During these weekends, we will be carrying out building works that will affect the users of the A10 Zuid and the train and metro services. By concentrating the work at weekends, we can minimize the number of people affected and can avoid a much longer period of disruption. The tunnel of metro line 51 will be demolished over the course of a number of weekends in April, May and June. This tunnel runs underneath the A10 Zuid and the train and metro tracks. The demolished tunnel sections will be removed by trucks and the resulting void will be filled with sand. In addition, we will screw a number of foundation piles into the ground, which will bear the weight of the roofs of the new Britten passage and Vivaldi passage. During three weekends in June, components of the roof of these two passageways will be put into place. This will cut through the southern lanes of A10 Zuid and underneath the rail tracks. Finally, we will also widen the existing entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station on the Mahlerplein-side What will these activities mean to you? Noise and dust The demolition of the roof of the metro tunnel will be done with pneumatic drill which will be audible in the surrounding area. The tunnel walls will be demolished using reduced-noise demolition tools. The pneumatic drill will be used on Saturdays during the day and in the evening until 11pm at the latest. The other demolition works will take place in the nights between Saturday and Sunday, as well as on Sunday during the day. In addition to noise, these activities will also generate dust, which can cause a nuisance. To prevent this as much as possible, we will sprinkle the rubble with water. Trucks Trucks will be running to and from the Arnold Schönberglaan and Parnassusweg to remove the rubble, and to deliver the sand. These trucks will drive via the Parnassusweg, Strawinskylaan and Beethoevenstraat and in the weekends when the A10 Zuid is closed to public traffic these arrivals and departures will be made via the A10 Zuid. Traffic coordinators will be deployed to ensure safe passage for all traffic including pedestrians and cyclists. A10 Zuid The southern lanes of the A10 Zuid will be closed between 10pm Friday evening and 5am Monday morning for all four weekends in May and one in June. During the fifth weekend, the road closure will be extended to (Whit) Monday, 10 June for the whole day. The overview above shows exactly which weekends will be affected. Coming from the A10 West, the A10 Zuid will be closed from junction De Nieuwe Meer in the direction of both the A2 and the A10 Oost (junction Amstel). Coming from the A4/Schiphol Airport, the A10 Zuid will be closed from junction Badhoevedorp. Traffic will be diverted via the A5 and the A9. Access route S109 in the direction of junction Amstel will remain open every weekend, as will the A10 Zuid en the A4 in the direction of Schiphol Airport. Please allow at least a 30 minutes longer travel time, plus any possible impact of busier-than- normal traffic. Train and metro No trains will be running to, from or via the Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam RAI stations on Saturdays and Sundays during the four weekends in May and one in June. During the fifth weekend, a limited timetable will be operated on (Whit) Monday, the 10th of June. When the trains are not operating, you can travel by metro. The overview above shows exactly which weekends are affected. It also shows during which weekends there will be fewer trains and metro’s. We advise you to consult a travel planner before setting out.
