On June 8, 2017, the Illinois Broadcasters Association hosted their Silver Dome Awards. Honorees included the 2017 Vincent T. Wasilewski “Broadcaster of the Year” Larry Wert, President of Broadcast Media for Tribune Media Company, and the 2017 W. Russell Withers, Jr. “IBA Broadcast Pioneer”, sports broadcaster Don Sharp. A special performance by BMI singer-songwriter and "The Walking Dead" actress, Emily Kinney topped off a great night.

In June, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association held their annual Summer Conference at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, WI. Over two days, broadcasters attended engineering and marketing seminars, young professional mentoring sessions and career fair, and other industry events. Jimmy Moore was a photo journalist with WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, SC. One morning, on his way into work, Jimmy was in a catastrophic car accident. His injuries were so severe, he had to be life-flighted to the nearest hospital. His wife, Jaimie, was also on her way to work and unknowingly stuck in the traffic from her husband’s accident. When Jaimie arrived at the hospital, she was told that her husband would never be able to walk again and might have trouble breathing on his own.
