MDA Region 6 Executive Officer 0. 5 FTE until 30 June 2021 Advertisement MDA Region 6 – Executive Officer MDA Region 6 is one of 12 regions making up the Murray Darling Association (MDA). The MDA is a membership- based body representing local government and communities in the management of Basin water resources by providing information, facilitating debate and seeking to influence government policy. A highly motivated Executive Officer is being sought to provide secretariat support, strategic planning and policy advice, and stakeholder engagement services to MDA Region 6. The Executive Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that MDA Region 6 is an organised and effective champion for the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Lower Murray region. Local governments form the core membership of the MDA but individuals, businesses, not-for-profit and community service organisations can also become associate members. Current members of MDA Region 6 include Alexandrina Council, Coorong District Council, Rural City of Murray Bridge, City of Victor Harbor, Southern Mallee District Council, and Tatiara District Council. Key issues of concern to the region include Basin Plan implementation, water security, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and water quality. The position will suit an applicant with strong interpersonal skills, experience in liaising with government agencies or similar bodies, and an understanding of Murray-Darling Basin policies and associated political issues. Some of the key responsibilities include: - Strategic planning and policy advice to the MDA Region 6 Board. - Assisting the Region Chair and members to build and maintain strong networks and stakeholder relationships. - Secretariat services including preparation for and attendance of meetings, and the coordination of communication between MDA Region 6 members, stakeholders, and the MDA Board. The position is jointly funded by Alexandrina Council, the Rural City of Murray Bridge and Coorong District Council, and will be hosted by either Alexandrina Council (based in Goolwa), Rural City of Murray Bridge (based in Murray Bridge), or Coorong District Council (based in Tailem Bend); or an alternative work location upon negotiation with the successful candidate. The position tenure is revised on an annual basis with the potential for further extension depending on funding and operational requirements. Applications close COB 20 September 2020.
