I am proud to be a Republican but have to admit it is hard to be one in California. What is helpful to me is part of a Bible verse that Malcom Forbes printed below his column each month “With all thy getting get understanding.”

I personally live in 2 worlds: my political world as a minor elected official and as board member of the California GOP, and I am in the “C-level” corporate world. Both gives me opportunities to meet leaders in those respective worlds and get behind the scenes where worlds intersect.

Yesterday I rushed over to where school teachers were picketing my fellow board members homes (my own house being excused from such humiliation, I presume, because I live 4 doors down from the union president). I completely changed the conversation (and helped disperse the picketers) when I explained that what they were protesting about were state laws that their endorsed candidates for state legislature voted for.
