To get in contact with Rob, email him at [email protected] I am proud to be a Republican but have to admit it is hard to be one in California. What is helpful to me is part of a Bible verse that Malcom Forbes printed below his column each month “With all thy getting get understanding.” I personally live in 2 worlds: my political world as a minor elected official and as board member of the California GOP, and I am in the “C-level” corporate world. Both gives me opportunities to meet leaders in those respective worlds and get behind the scenes where worlds intersect. believe we will be better off in the long term. For example, it is one thing to trade with China and to have US companies exporting goods over there, or building plants and sales organizations there, earning profits that are distributed back to shareholders here. But many times, the Chinese will require that companies doing business with them to transfer their intellectual property to China. In the near term the US company benefits from the initial commerce, in the long-term the US company is giving China the ability to easily compete with the US company in the future. At the same time, the combination of China overbuilding manufacturing capacity with a drive to dominate sales world-wide, it sells products to the US at prices less than it cost to manufacturer. Meanwhile, we have idle factories and unem- ployed people as US companies, not being government owned, cannot operate at a loss. President Trump differentiates himself from other US presidents and those short-term thinking corporate leaders by saying “no Yesterday I rushed over to where school teachers were picketing my fellow board members homes (my own house being excused from such humiliation, I presume, because I live 4 doors down from the union president). Some of the things they were protesting they thought were school board policy. I completely changed the conversation (and helped disperse the picketers) when I explained that what they were protesting about were state laws that their endorsed candidates for state legislature voted for.
