The La Honda Voice January 2015 Apple Jack’s Named in the Top 32 Diviest Dive Bars In America Path to the Upper Woodhams Creek Waterfall by Denis Shaw In October 2013, when writing about Cuesta Trails, I hinted about a secret path above the Woodhams Creek collection box that wound its way down to the bottom of the cascading falls below. It was, and still is, a crude, underdeveloped, and slightly dangerous pathway cutting through the scrub on the steep hillside. I planned to reveal the secret path during the winter rainfall, but it stopped raining, and there was no waterfall. Apple Jack’s was rated as the 12th diviest dive bar according to Impulcity (https://impulcity.com/ There is a waterfall now. articles/the-32-diviest-dive-bars-in-america/2) These last waves of rain did the trick, and there is water Their description of our beloved saloon: cascading down this 60 foot “Check your attitude at the door - this little one-room smooth rocky surface in a cabin on the way to the beach wont be having any of spectacular display. that. • Buffalo Springfield Reunited
Children, what's that sound? Buffalo Springfield reunited By Marco R. della Cava, USA Today, 10/25 MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Wow, man. There's tie-dyed Woodstock emcee Wavy Gravy getting wanded by security. Backstage, check out psychedelic album-art maestro Stanley Mouse, sketching up a storm. On stage? How about Buffalo Springfield, ripping through nearly a dozen of the band's hits? Who says you can't go back? Saturday's '60s throwback came courtesy of Neil and Pegi Young's 24th annual benefit concert to support the Bridge School, which educates 1 / 7 Children, what's that sound? Buffalo Springfield reunited children with severe impairments. Although the lineup for the all-acoustic, eight-hour affair was typically eclectic, the undeniable focus was on Young's first public reunion with remaining original members of his old band, formed with Stephen Stills and Richie Furay in the musical cauldron of 1966 and disbanded two years later. Springboard to fame The surviving trio did their late bandmates, Bruce Palmer and Dewey Martin, proud. Opening with a slightly slowed version of the Furay-led On the Way Home, Stills and Young dutifully fell into supporting roles on harmony. 2 / 7 Children, what's that sound? Buffalo Springfield reunited Furay, dressed in a black cowboy shirt, stayed in the spotlight with A Child's Claim to Fame, Do I Have to Come Right Out and Say It and Kind Woman. But the men flanking him would soon show their stuff, making it instantly clear why Springfield was fated to be a passing phenomenon.

Along the drive, Young recounted insightful and introspective stories from his youth to filmmaker Jonathan Demme. Demme, a long-time fan and collaborator, captured these tales of Young’s childhood and masterfully weaved them together with his mesmerizing music including songs from the 2010 album Le Noise and powerful renditions of classics including “Ohio”, Hey Hey, My My”, “I Believe in You” and previously unreleased songs “Leia” and “You Never Call.” Through the tunes and the tales, Demme portrays a personal, retrospective look into the heart and soul of the artist. In NEIL YOUNG JOURNEYS, Young’s intense performances are presented in full, along with passages from the funny and sometimes wistful ride into town. Demme and Young previously collaborated on two other documentaries, Neil Young: Heart of Gold, which chronicled Young performing in Nashville, the year after he survived a brain aneurysm and Neil Young Trunk Show, which memorialized a Pennsylvania concert during Young’s “Chrome Dreams II” tour.
