In the temple system of ancient Egypt, cosmic harmony was the model for earthly harmony. Intellectual life was part of the spiritual life; mental life was a reflection of the divine life; and Ascension to higher densities was the highest of ideals to strive for. This holistic philosophy accounted for the variety, complexity, and multiplicity of life, but never implied separation; unity was always present. To acquire knowledge was to observe the divine at work; all branches of learning were equally divine. All science was incorporated into the highest exaltation of knowledge, the Law of One. Two types of mediation are particularly useful for the seeker of the One. The Passive Meditation devoted to emptying of the mind’s mental jumble is useful for those who wish to achieve an inner silence to better listen to the Infinite Creator. Active Meditation, on the other hand, was the most important tool of the Adepts in the temples who practiced releasing the awesome power of their imagination every day of their lives. Active Meditation, simply put, allows you to tap into the basic energy and language of the universe. We can all speak the language of the universe. We do so every day; its language is vibration. You use Active Meditation constantly, whether or not you are even aware of it. When you raise your vibration through Active Meditation, the universe matches it and sends it back with an experience that matches the vibration. When you lower your vibration, the universe does the same; it does not discriminate. So how do you raise and lower your vibration? With your thoughts. Where do your thoughts come from? Your mind. Our higher mind is the tool we use to paint the world, but most of us don’t have full control of our brushes. Most of us live at the level of the basic mind-body survival system, trapped in the vortex of our senses and emotions, and believing that is who we are. We allow this basic mind- body survival system to run the show. We lose sight of the fact that our mind-body-spirit complex is a tool, a tool of our own making; an amazing tool that allows us to live in this world having all of the experiences – both good and bad --that we need to experience. Active Meditation requires, first, silence, and second, clarity of mind for you to transcend the duality of this world. To achieve this clarity of mind, Adepts taught their students that you must nourish the in-dwelling spark of the Divine each day just like the material body requires food and water to survive. So they invented a powerful mental technique we call an imaginization to help you still the mind and body sufficiently to release the awesome power of your imagination and, 2 imaginization Album Booklet with devoted practice, overcome the intense feelings and deeply embedded beliefs that confuse your subconscious mind and prevent you from letting go of old ways of doing and being. You may not know it but the subconscious mind only recognizes and understands emotion and symbol. You may desire it be so, believe it to be possible, and visualize it happening, but the problem is that your underlying deepest feelings about what you want are often confused. If there is a belief in your subconscious mind that there is not enough, that you are not enough, that you do not really deserve what you want, then those beliefs will “bleed” over into the conscious mind and affect your ability to manifest what you wish for. This is what keeps you locked into old ways of doing and being. Unfortunately, prayer, affirmations, and other techniques that come from the conscious mind and primarily use only

  • The AGA Song Book up to Date
3rd Edition Songs, Poems, Stories and More! Edited by Bob Felice Published by The American Go Association P.O. Box 397, Old Chelsea Station New York, N.Y., 10113-0397 Copyright 1998, 2002, 2006 in the U.S.A. by the American Go Association, except where noted. Cover illustration by Jim Rodgers. No part of this book may be used or reproduced in any form or by any means, or stored in a database or retrieval system, without prior written permission of the copyright holder, except for brief quotations used as part of a critical review. Introductions Introduction to the 1st Edition When I attended my first Go Congress three years ago I was astounded by the sheer number of silly Go songs everyone knew. At the next Congress, I wondered if all these musical treasures had ever been printed. Some research revealed that the late Bob High had put together three collections of Go songs, but the last of these appeared in 1990. Very few people had these song books, and some, like me, weren’t even aware that they existed. While new songs had been printed in the American Go Journal, there was clearly a need for a new collection of Go songs. Last year I decided to do whatever I could to bring the AGA Song Book up to date. I wanted to collect as many of the old songs as I could find, as well as the new songs that had been written since Bob High’s last song book. You are holding in your hands the book I was looking for two years ago.

  • That Ain't Bad (The Main Single Off Tingles), the Band Are Drowned out by the Crowd Singing Along
THAT AIN’T BAD A ZINE DEDICATED TO SYDNEY INDIE POP FROM THE EARLY 90’S BY ANDY PAINE INTROduction In the late 1980's and early 1990's, a group of bands emerged from Sydney who all played fuzzy distorted guitars juxtaposed with poppy melodies and harmonies. They released some wonderful music, had a brief period of remarkable mainstream success, and then faded from the memory of Australia's 'alternative' music world. I was too young to catch any of this music the first time around – by the time I heard any of these bands the 90’s were well and truly over. It's hard to say how I first heard or heard about the bands in this zine. As a teenage music nerd I devoured the history of music like a mechanical harvester ploughing through a field of vegetables - rarely pausing to stop and think, somethings were discarded, some kept with you. I discovered music in a haphazard way, not helped by living in a country town where there were few others who shared my passion for obscure bands and scenes. The internet was an incredible resource, but it was different back then too. There was no wikipedia, no youtube, no streaming, and slow dial-up speeds. Besides the net, the main ways my teenage self had access to alternative music was triple j and Saturday nights spent staying up watching guest programmers on rage. It was probably a mixture of all these that led to me discovering what I am, for the purposes of this zine, lumping together as "early 90's Sydney indie pop".

It was completed in eight takes (numbered Take 20 through 27 to match the film crew clapboard numbers) on January 31, 1969, the day after the rooftop concert. Take 27 had two complete performances of the song and the first of these Take 27 performances was deemed the best.

The Moody Blues Tour / Set List Project - updated April 9, 2006 compiled by Linda Bangert Please send any additions or corrections to Linda Bangert ([email protected]) and notice of any broken links to Neil Ottenstein ([email protected]). This listing of tour dates, set lists, opening acts, additional musicians was derived from many sources, as noted on each file. Of particular help were "Higher and Higher" magazine and their website at www.moodies- magazine.com and the Moody Blues Official Fan Club (OFC) Newsletters. For a complete listing of people who contributed, click here. Particular thanks go to Neil Ottenstein, who hosts these pages, and to Bob Hardy, who helped me get these pages converted to html. One-off live performances, either of the band as a whole or of individual members, are not included in this listing, but generally can be found in the Moody Blues FAQ in Section 8.7 - What guest appearances have the band members made on albums, television, concerts, music videos or print media? under the sub-headings of "Visual Appearances" or "Charity Appearances". The current version of the FAQ can be found at www.toadmail.com/~notten/FAQ-TOC.htm I've construed "additional musicians" to be those who played on stage in addition to the members of the Moody Blues. Although Patrick Moraz was legally determined to be a contract player, and not a member of the Moody Blues, I have omitted him from the listing of additional musicians for brevity. Moraz toured with the Moody Blues from 1978 through 1990. From 1965-1966 The Moody Blues were Denny Laine, Clint Warwick, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge, although Warwick left the band sometime in 1966 and was briefly replaced with Rod Clarke.

  • The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones How Does This All Work? Before rock and roll changed everything about the industry, sound studios used to find songs for artists and sometimes they found artists for songs. They handled everything for all but the biggest stars-song selection, arrangement, mixing, titles, packaging, all of it. This is the world the 20-something Stones and their 19-year old manager stepped into in 1964. The Stones battles with Decca Records would be epic over the duration of the contract their young manager negotiated for them. They seemed to be constantly breaking ground with their covers in the 60s and 70s. Never short of self-belief, even when it was provided by an inexperienced teenage manager, those battles began right out of the starting gate with the Stones untitled debut album. The story of the Stones first album cover is the story of a young man’s bold ideas and Nicholas Wright’s modest photographs. A writer on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of release of this album said, “So while we should be celebrating The Rolling Stones’ first album for “Route 66,” “I’m A King Bee,” “Tell Me” and all the rest; telling tales of Phil Spector shaking maracas while uptight old Gene Pitney looned about the place like Bez, its greatest legacy to rock’n’roll came courtesy of the wrapper it came in.” That was the beginning of the revolution that became a way of life. The Untitled There were 642 days between the Rolling Stones July 12, 1962 first performance at the Marquee Club in London and the release of their first Advance orders for the Stones first album album on April 17, 1964.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Slater's Silence by Nicky James Slater's Silence by Nicky James. Black Country-born sixties pop star Nicky James, who shot to fame with The Moody Blues, has died aged 64. Nicky, from Tipton, worked with some of the big names of his day including Denny Laine, Roy Wood, Bev Bevan, Carl Wayne, Mike Pinder, Scott Walker, Tom Jones and Graham Nash. He had been suffering from a brain tumour and died on Monday morning. He was born Mick Nicholls in April 1943 and attended Park Lane School in Tipton. Today his family paid tribute, saying he was a real character and was always cracking jokes. Nicky would joke he got his voice by drinking eye drops as a young boy. He lived most of his young life in Tipton until the age of 16 when he went to Scarborough with his father. However, he would make trips back to Tipton to see his mother Gladys. His sister Pat Coates, who lives in Coseley, said today: "He was a real character. We were very proud when he made his first record. He later moved back to Wiltshire but he always came back to see his mother in Shrubbery Avenue, Tipton. That was where it all started really. He was a lovable rogue." Denny Laine, of Denny and The Diplomats, hired Nicky in the early 1960s after he sang a few songs with the band. Nicky then joined Ronny and The Senators. The Moody Blues, after being signed to Decca Records, enjoyed worldwide fame by the end of 1964 with their recording of Go Now climbing to number one.
