Chuckles Nursery Sunday December 22nd! St David Lewis Church! Carol Service! Christmas Morning! 6.00pm Mass 11.00am ! Newport North Cluster! ! ! Health Drop In Sessions! Every Thursday ! 2pm – 3pm! Bettws Day Centre ! ! Healthy Cookery ! Wednesdays, starting 15th Jan 2014! For 4 weeks ! 10am - 12.30pm! Shaftesbury Community Centre Better location for Bettws Bus Stop to benefit the elderly! ! Please check our page, where we are running a campaign for better bus connections to the town centre for the elderly and disabled residents of Bettws who rely on this service. Due to the redevelopment of the bus station and town centre, the bus now stops at the train station, which means is impracticable for many residents who now feel trapped in their own homes.! ! This work is expected to last up to 2 years. If you or a family member or friend have already been affected by this please join our group and have your say. If we can get enough comments and support we will forward this to Newport City Council. Remember that it is not just Bettws that is being affected - at least 6 others routes are also affected by the same situation. If we can get support for Bettws hopefully we can start the ball rolling for the others too.! ! Show us your support for you community. ! https://www.facebook.com/groups/ 176564459216821/ Chuckles Nursery is a private day care nursery which operates • Full time child care from 6am – 6pm for children from birth to 4 • Holiday Club (Chuckles Fun Club) for children 4 – 8 • And State Nursery sessions for 3 year olds. Chuckles Nursery opened its doors in November 1999 and has maintained its success by continuing to provide a safe, stimulating and home from home environment where children can have fun whilst learning new skills to grow. Situated on Pentwyn Lane between Bettws and Cwmbran, the grounds we have here at Chuckles simply can’t be beat. Set in an acre of land, we are well away from any roads and immediate pollution but still only a mile away from the M4. Surrounding wildlife such as squirrels and neighbouring farm animals are an added treat. Chuckles interior provides a surrounding of colours and shapes to stimulate your child’s mind into action from the moment you step in through the door. Our messy play area is 40 square metres with art and craft materials galore in abundance. All rooms have the bonus of large windows to ensure a light and airy feel and individually decorated with colourful artwork and displays from the children The outside areas are split to ensure the children have a variety of experiences. All areas are accessible to the children to allow them choices and have been designed with their input. The covered patio area is where the children can carry out all the activities they do inside but with the added benefit of fresh air. The Sensory Garden has a large grassed open space with huts made from willow trees, a slide and areas to dig and explore. The bike track is designed specifically so that children who wish to ride can so safely. The decking is situated on a higher level for the younger children to play but where they can also see the older children play. Our latest development is a small allotment for the toddlers and pre- school to practice their gardening skills Private child care doesn’t have to be expensive, the government does offer a variety of ways for you to re-cover your child care fees (depending on your circumstances). For further information regarding funding you can contact the Family Information Service via their email [email protected] or call 0800 328 8483. Also Child Care Vouchers can be used against Holiday Club fees. Rugby Success at Newport High School" ! Earlier this year Joe Davies a member of our sixth form was selected to join the Dragons senior rugby academy. Whilst working with the Academy Joe has played first team rugby for Pontypool RFC in the WRU Championship and Newport RFC and Bedwas RFC in the Premiership. Last week Joe had his first call up to Regional Rugby playing his first game for the Dragons in their LV Cup clash with The Scarlets. Joe ran out in the second row alongside seasoned veterans and ex Wales Internationals like Adam Jones and Joe and Leon Rob Sidolli at Parc y Scarlets. Despite loosing the match Joe acquitted himself well and has earned himself a place on the bench for this Saturdays clash with Wasps. This is a significant achievement for any rugby player let alone one who is still !only 17. Congratulations once again Joe and good luck on Saturday." Joe has also been called up to the Wales under 18’s squad that is preparing to face Australia later this month. Joe has been joined in the squad by Leon Brown another member of our Sixth form and 1st XV." Some of “The Boys” ! Congratulations should also go Ben Snell who has been selected to play for Newbridge RFC several times this season in the WRU Championship and scored a try on his debut in a tough local derby against Ebbw Vale, James Sully, Evan Ash and Connor Edwards on their inclusion into the Dragons U18’s squad and Alex Turnbull who has been selected to play for the Boys Club of Wales this season. After some strong performances for Newport High 1st XV all the boys have caught the eye of selectors and their hard work and !determination has payed off." Finally we would also like to congratulate our Head Coach Mr Flanagan on his first selection for the Barbarians. Mr Flanagan pulled on the famous Barbarians Black and white shirt joining a long list of rugby Legends last night when he played against the Combined Armed Forces in a Remembrance Day Match. Mr Falnagan had a great match setting up a couple of tries and making four conversion’s despite eventually loosing the match 34-28." ! This case is concerned with the right of the claimant, the Pontypool Rugby Club, a club with a proud history, to continue to play in the Premier Division of Welsh rugby in the 2012/13 season. The defendant is the Welsh Rugby Union, which organises and controls the sport of rugby union in Wales. It is the view of the WRU that as a result of the re-organisation of the Premier Division to reduce the number of clubs playing in it and Pontypool’s position in order of playing meritocracy of the fourteen clubs formerly in the division, the club is now only eligible to play in the Championship, the next division down. The essence of Pontypool’s case is that clubs which are above it on a basis of playing merit have not met the requirements to hold an A licence as required for the Premiership by the WRU’s National League Rules 2011/2012, and so there is a place for Pontypool within the Premiership.
