Her 15 strikeouts against Bellarmine were the most by a Lady Flame since Tiffani Smith struck out a program-record 16 batters on April 24, 2009 against Presbyterian. - Kirby entered this season with 34 career strikeouts in 60 career . This year, she has totaled 109 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched. - Kirby has posted three 10- games this season, the most double-digit strikeout games by a Lady Flame since Julia DiMartino (3) in 2019. DiMartino struck out 10 or more batters five times as a freshman in 2016. - Megan Johnson appeared exclusively as a starting pitcher in 2021. This year, in eight relief ap- pearances, she has allowed just one out of 12 inherited runners to score. Two-time Olympic Gold medalist, Dr. Dot Richardson has led the Liberty softball pro- gram to new heights. During the 2018 season, Richardson’s Lady Flames won a program-record 49 games (49-14), taking a 19-game winning streak into the NCAA Columbia Regional Final. She led the team to its first-ever NCAA Regional Final appearance, being named Big South and VaSID State Coach of the Year. The Lady Flames then went 40-22 in 2019, winning the Dr. Dot Richardson NISC Regional Round. UCLA, ‘83; Adelphi, ‘88; In 2017, she led Liberty to its first-ever postseason championship, as the Lady Flames Louisville, ‘93 captured the National Invitational Softball Championship title with a 3-1 win over Lamar.
