ZooKeys 484: 1–10. doi: 10.3897/zookeys.484.8836 Abstract A new genus Sumatrella gen. n. is described and illustrated based on the new species Sumatrella chelonica sp. n. collected in Sumatra, Indonesia. The new genus belongs to the family Oplitidae based on its hypertrichous internal malae and the absence of strongly sclerotized structures on the dorsal shield. The new genus is closely related to the genus Chelonuropoda Sellnick, 1954 but the transverse furrow on ventral idiosoma close to coxae IV and the strongly sclerotized C-shaped dorsal line are missing in the new genus. These characters can be found in species of Chelonuropoda. Keywords South-East Asia, taxonomy, turtl mites Introduction The Uropodina mites are one of the well-characterized members of the soil mite fauna.

B. HALLIDAY Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO, GPO Box 1700, Canberra ACT 2601, Australia. E-mail [email protected] Abstract This paper provides details of 300 genus-group names in the suborder Uropodina, including the superfamilies Microgynioidea, Thinozerconoidea, Uropodoidea, and Diarthrophalloidea. For each name, the information provided includes a reference to the original description of the genus, the type species and its method of designation, and details of nomenclatural and taxonomic anomalies where necessary. Twenty of these names are excluded from use because they are nomina nuda, junior homonyms, or objective junior synonyms. The remaining 280 available names appear to include a very high level of subjective synonymy, which will need to be resolved in a future comprehensive revision of the Uropodina. Key words: Acari, Mesostigmata, Uropodina, generic names, type species Introduction Mites in the Suborder Uropodina are very abundant in forest litter, but can also be found in large numbers in moss, under stones, in ant nests, in the nests and burrows made by vertebrates, and in dung and carrion. Most appear to be predators that feed on nematodes or other small invertebrates, but others may feed on living and dead fungi and plant tissue (Lindquist et al., 2009).

Genus Vol. 21(4): 687-693 Wrocław, 27 XII 2010 Notes on the genus Latotutulioplitis HIRSCHMANN, 1984, with the description of Latotutulioplitis janae n. sp. from Nigeria (Acari: Uropodina: Oplitidae) Jenő Kontschán Systematic Zoology Research Group, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Department of Zoology, Hungarian Natural History Museum, H-1088 Budapest, Baross u. 13. Hungary, e-mail: [email protected] AbstrAct. All of the previously described Latotutulioplitis HIRSCHMANN, 1994 species are listed accompanied by a key to the species. Short diagnosis about the genus is presented. A new species (Latotutulioplitis janae n. sp.) is described from Nigeria on the basis of the samples stored in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London. The new species differs from the other Latotutuliopiltis species in the ornamentation of ventral and sternal shield and the position of the sternal setae. Key words: acarology, taxonomy, Uropodina, Latotutulioplitis, new species, taxonomy, Nigeria. INTRODUcTION Werner hirschmAnn, the noted Uropodina researcher established a new species group (latotutuli group) in the genus Oplitis for eight new and three already known species (HIRSCHMANN 1984a). The eight new species (O. latotutuli HIRSCHMANN, 1984; O. ootutuli HIRSCHMANN, 1984; O. labyrinthi HIRSCHMANN, 1984; O. tutuli HIRSCHMANN, 1984, O. irae HIRSCHMANN, 1984; O. radiata HIRSCHMANN, 1984; O. angustifolia HIRSCHMANN, 1984 and O. latifolia HIRSCHMANN, 1984) were described from cameroon, while the other three species earlier described species were presented from East-Africa (O. retrobarbatula (BERLESE, 1916) and O. szunyeghyi HIRSCHMANN, 1983) and Angola (O. natalensis (mArAis & Loots, 1981)). In another publication that appeared in the same volume, HIRSCHMANN (1984b) erected a new genus (Latotutulioplitis HIRSCHMANN, 1984) and moved the previously 688 JENő KONTScHáN mentioned species into the new genus.

News 30: 73-92 doi: 10.25849/myrmecol.news_030:073 29 January 2020 Original Article Myrmecophilous organisms associated with colonies of the ponerine ant Neoponera villosa (Hymeno ptera: Formicidae) nesting in Aechmea bracteata bromeliads: a biodiversity hotspot Franklin H. Rocha, Jean-Paul Lachaud & Gabriela Pérez-Lachaud Abstract Ants and their resources are exploited by a plethora of other organisms, some using remarkable morphological and behavioral adaptations for host deception and social integration. The diversity, abundance, and distribution of myrme- cophiles are likely underestimated, particularly regarding Neotropical ants. This study aims to document the diversity of myrmecophiles associated with the colonies of Neoponera villosa (Fabricius, 1804) in the southern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, a region with rapid transformation and high risk of habitat loss and habitat fragmentation. Between January 2016 and January 2019, 82 colonies (or parts of colonies) established in the core of the tank bromeliad Aechmea bracteata (Sw.) Griseb., 1864, were collected. All invertebrates present in the nest chambers were recorded, and ants and their brood were inspected under a stereomicroscope for the presence of any sign of parasitism. Natural history of some of the recorded myrmecophiles and nest associates was determined. Results showed a diverse array of associated taxa, with organisms from six classes distributed in at least 43 different taxa belonging to 16

A new species of myrmecophile mite, Oplitis hutae sp. nov. is described based on specimens collected in central-southern Romania (Arges District). Oplitis hutae sp. nov. belongs to the species group conspicua. The new species differs from the other species of this group in adults by the distinct ornamentation of ventral shields and by the presence of a pair of short simple setae with large pores and lyrifissures on the ventral shield. It differs in females by the shape of endogynium. Keywords: taxonomy, Acarina, Uropodina, Oplitis, new species, Romania. Introduction 24°54’E).
