The threat of relegation is becoming more and more The Young Sky Blues pulled off a massive upset last real for Hakoah with the club needing a major turn week with a brilliant back to the wall 3-2 win against around if they are to rescue their season. Sydney Olympic and confidence is sure to be high Sydney FC will be favourites for this match at home for Jimmy van Weeren’s side. but perhaps the second half of the season is the time Another upside for van Weeren is the end of the Hakoah reignites their stuttering campaign. A-League season which means he could be set to have rising stars Joel King and Luke Ivanovic more readily available over the second half of the campaign. Both King and Ivanovic found themselves on the scoresheet last week and are only going to get better as the season goes on. Ryan Teague was another impressive performer in last week’s win and the holding midfielder will be expected to star against a struggling Hakoah attack. It’s been a tough run for Hakoah over the past two months with the Gavin Rae coached side finishing the first half of the season anchored to the bottom of the table with only two wins from 11 matches. Sydney FC were clinical in their execution, with Benjamin Koop, Luke Ivanovic and Joel King all scoring their goals through their fast-paced attack, while Olympic struggled to convert their chances, with Alex Sanchez’s double not enough to match the energetic young Sky Blues. Olympic’s defeat means they drop out of the top five while Sydney FC climb up to ninth. Blacktown City FC 1 – Hakoah Sydney City East 0 at Lily Homes Stadium A Daniel Araujo strike has helped Blacktown City to consecutive wins as they edged Hakoah Sydney City East 1-0 at Lily Homes Stadium. It was a match defined by the chances which were missed as both sides spurned penalties before City clung on for a hard fought three points. Araujo found the back of the net early in the second half with a clinical headed finish from a Matthew Lewis cross. The visitors had a chance to snatch a point when they were given a late penalty but it wasn’t to be for Hakoah as Amaury Gauthier’s spot kick was saved. 6 #NPLNSW TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol NPLNSW.COM.AU 7 TOP GOAL SCORERS NAME & CLUB GOALS SCORED Thomas James (Wollongong Wolves) 12 Chris Payne (APIA Leichhardt Tigers) 11 Alejandro Sanchez (Sydney Olympic) 9 Mirjan Pavlovic (Marconi Stallions) 8 Marko Jesic (Marconi Stallions) 7 Brendan Cholakian (Manly United) 7 Peter Simonoski (Sydney United 58) 6 Jeremy Cox (Sutherland Sharks) 6 Jordan Swibel (Sydney FC) 5 CHRIS PAYNE APIA LEICHHARDT TIGERS Fabricio Fernandes (Mt Druitt Town Rangers) 5 PHOTO GALLERY U20’S TEAM LISTS 22 Tyson Savas 26 Jay Hirschowitz 23 Harry Mccarthy 27 Peter Turral 24 Jake Hollman 28 Hesan Soufi 25 Mitchell Mattison 29 Ryan Rooke 26 Sam Amey 30 Mitch Knight 27 Aaron Gurd 32 Daniel Salinas 28 Fletcher Mcfarlane 34 Samuel Shepherd 30 Adam Pavlesic 36 Ellis Bellos 31 Scott Browning 37 Ben Burton 32 Thomas Main 38 Julio Mushaba 33 Jaiden Kucharski 39 Tom Sutters 34 Calem Nieuwenhof 57 Cameron Szyszka 40 Levi Kaye Head Coach: Neil (Jabba) Jablonski Head Coach: Shane Smeltz Goal Keeping Coach: Trinity Allen Assistant Coach: Howard Fondyke Head Physio: Andrew Hughes Team Manager: Jarek Pacholski Manager: Dave Shaddock Manager: Jordan Divertie U20’S - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Blacktown City FC 11 9 1 1 29 7 22 28 2 Rockdale City Suns FC 11 6 2 3 20 13 7 20 3 Sydney FC 11 4 5 2 19 12 7 17 4 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 11 5 2 4 13 8 5 17 5 Sydney Olympic FC 11 5 2 4 15 17 -2 17 6 Sutherland Sharks FC 11 4 3 4 13 14 -1 15 7 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 11 4 2 5 18 20 -2 14 8 Manly United FC 11 4 2 5 18 22 -4 14 9 Marconi Stallions FC 11 3 3 5 16 22 -6 12 10 Wollongong Wolves FC 11 4 0 7 11 21 -10 12 11 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 11 2 4 5 18 26 -8 10 12 Sydney United 58 FC 11 2 2 7 12 20 -8 8 10 #NPLNSW U20’S MATCH PREVIEW Sydney FC came away from Belmore Sports Ground The Sky Blues return to Lambert Park on Saturday last weekend with all three points after beating afternoon to face Hakoah Sydney City East, who Sydney Olympic 2-1.
