Vadlamudi was nominated to represent on the Executive Council of the Drug Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) for the period 2018 – 2019. IPA Committees for the years 2018 – 2020 The following Committees were formed to manage the affairs of the association and to meet the objectives of the trust. 1. Awards Committee 2. Building Committee 3. Administrative Committee and 4. Constitution Review Committee International Affiliations With an objective to enlarge participation in global activities, the Association continued its affiliation with the following international organizations and actively participated in their programs. International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP); Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA); Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Association (FAPA); SEARPharm Forum; American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS); American Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAiPS) IPA also participated actively in Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) meetings and participated in their programs. Membership The total membership was 14,697 for the period under review. The names of the new local branches are given below and all the State & Local branches conducted various programs in line with IPA Objectives. The detail report about branch activities is available on IPA Website at www.ipapharma.org Andhra Pradesh – Nellore & Narsapore; Maharashtra ‐ Raigad 2 CEC and other Meetings CEC meetings: During the year under report four Central Executive Council meetings were held in Mumbai. Annual General Meeting: The IPA Annual General meeting of the Association was held on 22nd December 2018 at Delhi during 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress. IPA Programs IPA Building Bhoomi Puja After a decade of waiting, the dream project of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Building Bhoomi Puja was performed on 30th August, 2018 at 4.30 p.m. in the presence of senior members like Mr. A.I. Mehta, Mr. B.N. Thakore, Dr. P.M. Naik, Mr. Subodh Priolkar, Dr. M.K. Raina, Dr. Ajit Dangi, Mr. Kaushik Desai, Dr. Alka Mukne, Mr. Nitin Maniar, Mr. S.D. Joag and many other distinguished guest and BCP faculty members. IPA President, Dr. T.V. Narayana could not attend the function due to his sudden illness and other Office Bearers also could not be present due to their previous commitments. The Building is designed to have ground plus 3 floors with each floor area of 8000 sq.ft. The ground floor will be used for car parking and first floor will be for IPA Administrative office. The decision about usage of 2nd and 3rd floor will be taken at a later stage. Mr. Amit Valsangkar is the Architect for the IPA Building and M/s. Rajshree Build Tech Pvt. Ltd. are the main contractor for the IPA Building. The Building construction will be completed within 12 months with expected expenses of more than Rs.9 crores. IPA Convention, 2018 Theme: Pharma Vision 2030: A Road Map for Profession of Pharmacy’ with Special Focus on “Odisha Pharma Industries: Issues and Challenges; November 3 ‐ 4, 2018, Bhubaneswar, Odisha The 12th Annual Convention 2018 of Indian Pharmaceutical Association was organized by IPA Jeypore Local Branch in association with Odisha Pharmacy Intellectual Forum at Rail Auditorium, Bhubaneswar on 3rd and 4th November, 2018 with the theme ‘Pharma Vision 2030: A Road Map for Profession of Pharmacy’ with Special Focus on “Odisha Pharma Industries: Issues and Challenges”. The event was powered by Centre for Pharmaceutical Development & Research (CPDR). 3 Lighting of the Lamp during Inauguration Inaugural address by Dr. T V. Narayana The Inauguration ceremony was presided by Dr. T.V. Narayana, President, IPA. Dignitaries present on the dais were Sj. Sashibhusan Behera, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Finance & Excise, Govt. of Odisha, Chief Guest. Sj. Prakash Kumar Guha, Managing Director, Zuventus, Chairman, LOC, Dr. Sruti Ranjan Mishra, Convenor. The Guest of Honour present were Sj. Prafulla Samal, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Social Security & Empowerment of persons with disabilities, Women & Child Development & (Mission Shakthi), Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Govt. of Odisha, Sj. Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar, Sj. Sudarshan Das, Convener, Agami Odisha, Dr. Alok Lodh, Unit Head, BR Life Kalinga Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Prof. K. Chinnaswamy, President, Indian Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (IACP), Prof. C.K. Kokate, Former President, Pharmacy Council of India, Dr. Rao Vadlamudi, President, Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, Dr. A. Ramakrishnan, Dy Drugs Controller (Eastern Zone), CDSCO, Sj. Sudarshan Das welcomed the distinguished guests and delegates to the convention and introduced the dignitaries present over the dais. Sj. Prakash Kumar Guha, Chairman, LOC focussed on the issues pertaining to pharmaceutical scenario of the state and quoted the pharmaceutical development in neighbouring state like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim etc. Sj. Sashibhusan Behera, Chief Guest, informed that Odisha Govt. is proactive towards pharmaceutical and device industries and assured to resolve the judicious implementation of Odisha Pharmaceutical Policy 2016 and it’s logistic. A souvenir was released during the inauguration program. Dr. Sruti Ranjan Mishra, Convenor gave the Vote of Thanks. Dr. V.G. Somani Dr. R.N. Gupta Dr. M. Venketeswarlu Memorial Lecturer Award ‐ 2018 lecture was deliberated by Dr. V. G. Somani, Joint Drugs Controller, CDSCO, who highlighted the issues and challenges in drug regulations. The IPA President’s Special Orientation Award 2018 Lecture was deliberated by Dr. R. N. Gupta, Vice President & Divisional head, Hospital Pharmacy, IPA who focused on the role of pharma‐industrialization in creating job opportunities and national economy. The Scientific Session 1 was taken by Mrs. Manjiri S. Gharat, Vice President & Divisional head, Community Pharmacy, who discussed about the changing role of Pharmacists and highlighted about the opportunity from
