International Affiliations With an objective to enlarge participation in global activities, the Association continued its affiliation with the following international organizations and actively participated in their programs.

IPA also participated actively in Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of (ASSOCHAM) meetings and participated in their programs.

Annual General Meeting: The IPA Annual General meeting of the Association was held on 22nd December 2018 at Delhi during 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress.

IPA Programs

 IPA Building Bhoomi Puja

After a decade of waiting, the dream project of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Building Bhoomi Puja was performed on 30th August, 2018 at 4.30 p.m. in the presence of senior members like Mr. A.I. Mehta, Mr. B.N. Thakore, Dr. P.M. Naik, Mr. Subodh Priolkar, Dr. M.K. Raina, Dr. Ajit Dangi, Mr. Kaushik Desai, Dr. Alka Mukne, Mr. Nitin Maniar, Mr. S.D. Joag and many other distinguished guest and BCP faculty members.

IPA President, Dr. T.V. Narayana could not attend the function due to his sudden illness and other Office Bearers also could not be present due to their previous commitments.

The Building is designed to have ground plus 3 floors with each floor area of 8000 sq.ft. The ground floor will be used for car parking and first floor will be for IPA Administrative office. The decision about usage of 2nd and 3rd floor will be taken at a later stage.

Mr. Amit Valsangkar is the Architect for the IPA Building and M/s. Rajshree Build Tech Pvt. Ltd. are the main contractor for the IPA Building. The Building construction will be completed within 12 months with expected expenses of more than Rs.9 crores.

 IPA Convention, 2018 Theme: Pharma Vision 2030: A Road Map for Profession of Pharmacy’ with Special Focus on “Odisha Pharma Industries: Issues and Challenges; November 3 ‐ 4, 2018, Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The 12th Annual Convention 2018 of Indian Pharmaceutical Association was organized by IPA Jeypore Local Branch in association with Odisha Pharmacy Intellectual Forum at Rail Auditorium, Bhubaneswar on 3rd and 4th November, 2018 with the theme ‘Pharma Vision 2030: A Road Map for Profession of Pharmacy’ with Special Focus on “Odisha Pharma Industries: Issues and Challenges”. The event was powered by Centre for Pharmaceutical Development & Research (CPDR). 3

Sudarshan Das welcomed the distinguished guests and delegates to the convention and introduced the dignitaries present over the dais. Sj. Prakash Kumar Guha, Chairman, LOC focussed on the issues pertaining to pharmaceutical scenario of the state and quoted the pharmaceutical development in neighbouring state like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim etc. Sj. Sashibhusan Behera, Chief Guest, informed that Odisha Govt. is proactive towards pharmaceutical and device industries and assured to resolve the judicious implementation of Odisha Pharmaceutical Policy 2016 and it’s logistic. A souvenir was released during the inauguration program. Dr. Sruti Ranjan Mishra, Convenor gave the Vote of Thanks.

Dr. M. Venketeswarlu Memorial Lecturer Award ‐ 2018 lecture was deliberated by Dr. V. G. Somani, Joint Drugs Controller, CDSCO, who highlighted the issues and challenges in drug regulations. The IPA President’s Special Orientation Award 2018 Lecture was deliberated by Dr. R. N. Gupta, Vice President & Divisional head, Hospital Pharmacy, IPA who focused on the role of pharma‐industrialization in creating job opportunities and national economy. The Scientific Session 1 was taken by Mrs. Manjiri S. Gharat, Vice President & Divisional head, Community Pharmacy, who discussed about the changing role of Pharmacists and highlighted about the opportunity from trader to healthcare professional. Dr. Alka Mukne, Editor ‐ Pharma Times, addressed the Scientific Session 2 and highlighted the ethics in Scientific Research & Publication. The BR Life Kalinga Hospital‐OPIFCPDR Privilege Card for Pharmacists of Odisha was inaugurated by Mrs. Manjiri Gharat on behalf of the President, IPA. Dr. Mihir Kumar Kar, Cofounder of Centre for Pharmaceutical Development and Research (CPDR) 4 had briefed about the benefits and privileges offered by BR Life Kalinga Hospital to the Pharmacists of Odisha. The Scientific Session 3 was taken by Dr. AlokLodh, Unit Head, BR Life Kalinga Hospital, Bhubaneswar, who shared his experience about the importance of Pharmacists in corporate hospital. Oral scientific research presentation evaluation was also made parallel to the scientific session.

Cultural event was organized in the evening where traditional Odisi dance, Prince Dance group and Bihu Dance were performed. Further the musical night witnessed the performances of Rock stars like Satyajeet Das, Satyajit Pradhan and Navya.

The second day started with Scientific Session 4 by Dr. Subhash C. Mandal, Vice President & Divisional head, Regulatory Affairs. The poster presentation evaluation was also carried out. His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Hon’ble Prof. Ganeshi Lal, had graced the Valedictory ceremony as Chief Guest which was presided by Dr. T. V. Narayana, President, IPA. Among other dignitaries Sj. Ananta Narayan Jena, Mayor, Bhubaneswar, Sj. Pratap Sadangi, Ex‐ MLA Prof. K. Chinnaswamy, President (IACP), Dr. Sruti Ranjan Mishra, Convenor. Dr. Prasanna Kumar Kar, Organizing Secretary, Dr. Amiya Kanta Mishra, Jt Organizing Secretary and Dr. Manoj Dash were present on the dais. LOC, OPIF & CPDR Members along with winners of scientific paper presentations as well as other volunteers were felicitated by His Excellency Governor of Odisha for their dedicated contribution to this mega event.  IPA Award Function & Fellows Dinner 2018

The IPA prestigious Awards Function & Fellows’ Dinner was organized at Hotel Holiday Inn Mayur Vihar Noida, Delhi on the evening of 22nd December, 2018. The function was attended by the Fellows of IPA, industry leaders, regulators, educators and healthcare professionals. The function was organized on the sidelines of 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress hosted by the IPGA.

Mr. Ajit Singh and Mr. Ajit Kanetkar of Associated Capsules Group joined in presently the IPA ACG – SciTech Innovation Awards. Prof. Arvind Bansal, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, (NIPER), Mohaliwas awarded the Best Innovative Development of Solid Dosage Form Award for 2018 for his work on “Generation of solid dosage forms of four model APIs using novel technology for generation of nanocrystalline solid dispersions (NCSD)”. The award comprised of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 100,000/‐. The promising innovation award in Innovative Development of Solid Dosage Form was given to Dr. Mala Menon, Bombay College of Pharmacy, Mumbai for her work on “Dry Powder inhalation (DPI) formulation of Rifampicin and Moxifloxacin for alveolar macrophage (AM) targeting to achieve improved therapy of Tuberculosis (TB)”. This award comprised of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 50,000/‐. The Best Innovative Packaging of Pharmaceutical Formulation Award was presented to Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. for their work on “Recognize initiatives 2D matrix barcode on the Aluminium blister”. The award comprises of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 100,000/‐.

Narayana, Dr. Rao Vadlamudi and Dr. Divakar Goli, Editor, IJPS honored the authors with a memento, certificate and a cash announcing the IJPS Awards prize of Rs.10,000/‐.

The prestigious IPA – Ramanbhai Patel Foundation Life Time Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Prem Kumar Gupta and Prof. R.K. Khar for their pivotal role in regulatory and in the growth of the pharmaceutical profession and pharmacy education respectively and for their significant contribution in the activities of IPA for more than three decades. The award comprises a citation, medal and a cash prize of Rs.25,000/‐.

The Awards function was brought to a close by Dr. Alka Mukne, Editor, Pharma Times by proposing a Vote of Thanks and inviting all the dignitaries attending the function to the program ended with cocktails and dinner.

 Pharma Times Conclave ‐ Golden Jubilee celebration :

Pharma Times Conclave, with the theme Transforming ‘Disruptors’ into ‘Enablers’ for Universal Health Care, was held on 24th January, 2019 at Hotel Orchid, Mumbai. The Conclave was organized to commemorate the completion of 50 years of quality publishing of Pharma Times, the monthly newsmagazine of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). The event was supported by ACG Worldwide & had the then Drugs Controller General (India), Dr. Eswara Reddy as the Chief Guest & Ajit Singh, Chairman, ACG Worldwide, as the Guest of Honor.

The Conclave had two panel discussions – on Evolving Regulatory Landscape & Digitization in Pharma Industry. With Rajeev Patil (Regulatory Affairs Consultant), Subodh Priolkar (CEO, Wincoats), Dr. Nilima Kshirsagar (National Chair, Clinical Pharmacology, ICMR, Government of India) & Dr. Eswaran Iyer (IPR Consultant) as panellists in the discussion on Regulatory Scenario that was moderated by Dr. Rao Vadlamudi (Immediate Past President of IPA), the deliberations presented the most recent updates with respect to the various facets that make up the current regulatory climate in the

country & impact of the changing / tightening regulatory requirements globally. Regulatory compliance issues & recent updates, especially with respect to 483s & warning letters, global regulatory requirements for use of excipients in drug products, current status of fixed dose combinations (FDCs) and USTR Special 301 Report & India being placed on Priority

Panelists of the discussion on Digitization in Pharma Industry (L to R) Sandeep Dewangan, Dr. T.V. Narayana, DCGI, Dr. S. Eswara Reddy, Utkarsh Palnitkar, Dr. Parizad Elchidana, Ettore Cucchetti, Dr. Rajesh Jain, Seshnath Chauhan, Ajit Singh and Dr. Alka Mukne watch list, pressure on the Indian government to accept ‘TRIPS plus’ provisions & compulsory licensing were some of the elements that were dealt with, during the discussion. The second discussion on Digitization was moderated by Utkarsh Palnitkar (Founder & Managing Partner, Aarna Corporate Advisors) and had Ettore Cucchetti (CEO, ACG Inspections), Sandeep Dewangan (Director, SciTech, ACG Worldwide), Dr. Parizad Elchidana (Chief Technical Officer, Pharmax Pharmaceuticals), Seshnath Chauhan (Director, Global Sourcing, Dr. Reddys Laboratories) & Dr. Rajeev Jain (Co‐Founder, ConsilX Digital) as the panelists. Applicability of industry 4.0 to pharma scenario, digital transformation of pharma product infrastructure from manufacturing to dispensing the product to the patients, with drastic changes in business models & global manufacturing operations, software‐controlled packaging execution (serialisation and automation/robotisation), integrated supply chain (traceability and collaboration) & enterprise back‐end IT cloud based services (XaaS) utilizing the data from the product supply (analytics, clinical trials, life‐cycle management and regulatory compliance reporting), were some of the topics deliberated upon, during the discussion. DCGI, Dr. Eswara Reddy made the closing remarks on both the discussions and emphasized on the need to make the Indian drug regulatory laws more contemporary & exhorted the industry to exercise just as much due diligence in their domestic regulatory submissions as for the global regulatory agencies.

The panel discussions were followed by the Pharma Times Felicitation program. President of IPA, Dr. T. V. Narayana, in his welcome remarks, congratulated Dr. Alka Mukne, Editor, Pharma Times, for successfully

Dr. Alka Mukne in her presentation highlighted on the challenges faced in distributing over 13,000 print copies, free of cost every month, to IPA members & requested the pharmaceutical, machinery & excipients industry to extend greater support to Pharma Times so as to make it a viable pro‐ position.

Dr. Eswara Reddy, in his address, spoke about how proud he was, to be present for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Pharma Times. Dr. Reddy continued on the need to put in greater focus on building innovation – based products & further added that there was this burning need for building trust between the industry & the Indian regulators.

The last leg of the program included felicitation of the Past Editors of Pharma Times – Founder Editor, Ashok Mehta (1968 – 1988) who founded the magazine & managed it for two decades, Dr. P. M. Nayak (1988 – 1990), Kaushik Desai (1996 – 2004 & 2008 – 2010) & Dr. M. K. Raina (2004 ‐ 2008). Dr. Anil Kapadia (1990 – 1996), who was the Editor immediately after Dr. P. M.  IPA Students’ Forum 10th Indian Pharmaceutical Association – Students’ Congress Theme: Need Based Education – Changes Envisaged: February 16 ‐ 17, 2018, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh

Indian Pharmaceutical Association – Students’ Forum (IPA‐SF) major national event is IPA Student Congress and the 10th Indian Pharmaceutical Association – Students Congress was hosted by IPA Rajahmundry Local Branch which was held from February 16 – 17, 2019 at Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajahmundry, AP with a theme “Need Based Education – Challenges Envisaged”. IPA‐SF, the student wing of the IPA was inaugurated by our former President, his excellency Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on 16th August 2008. IPA‐SF was awarded the best overall performer among all the 85 international associations and was conferred the Sidney J. Ralph award in 2013. IPA‐SF were winners of Vampire cup and Live Vampire cup (given by IPA‐SF for maximum blood donation camps) in 2014 and winners of Live Vampire cup in 2015 and 2016. IPA‐SF hosted the 61st IPASF World Congress 2015 at Hyderabad over 400 student delegates from 61+ member countries participated in this event and it served as a great opportunity for the delegates to “Connect‐Catalyse‐Innovate”.

The 10th IPA Students’ Congress mainly focused on patient counselling event, clinical skills event, pharma quiz, placement conclave, innovative ideas and panel discussions blended with a cultural evening. The congress brought together over 2800+ delegates from 90 colleges across the nation from various states like Tamilnadu, Keral, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal and Maharashtra to participate in the workshops and competitions to share their experiences, to learn from one another and to debate regarding the current future pharmacist roles. The congress was inaugurated by Dr. B. Suresh, President, Pharmacy Council of India and Vice Chanceller, JSS University, Mysore.

Vidhyadhara, Chairman, IPA Education Division, Prof. KPR Chowdary – SSC Convener IPCA graced the occasion. Mr. Dhilip Kumar, President, AIDCOC, T.Ch. Subbarao – Chairman Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajahmundry; Dr. A. Ramakishan, Deputy Drugs Controller graced the event as well.

Inception of the programme was done with a welcome address by Ms. P. Pragna Ella, Chairperson IPASF and it was followed by inspirational speeches of the dignitaries on the dais and moved forward for the felicitations to the privileged guests Dr. B. Suresh, President, Pharmacy Council of India and keynote speaker Dr. Krishna Ella and all other guests of honour.

The programme proceeded with an enlightening panel discussion which concerned towards the theme of the congress : Need Based Education – Changes Envisaged. By exactly justifying the theme, the congress truly explained about the need of outcome based education by eminent personalities like Dr. Rao Vadlamudi, Dr. Naresh Sharma, Dr. Sunil Attavar and others from different fields of pharmacy. They also justified so many queries raised from the students. Student’s congress served as a best platform to share and showcase student’s research work in the Scientific programme. With an overall participation, 776 Scientific papers were received and out of which 28 e‐posters and 65 oral posters along with 93 posters were presented in the conference. The total number of delegates in this mega event was 1749 excluding many of the VIP and VVIP. The mentors Dr. T.K. Ravi & Dr. Sriram Shanmugam played a vital role in guiding and conducting the events like Patient Counselling, Clinical Skills & Compounding event was very thought provoking and innovating. A total cash prize of worth 9 lakhs was awarded to the winners of all competitions. Mr. Aditya Srinivas, Secretary, IPASF gave the plan of action for 2019 – 2020 and their vision, expansion of IPASF though out India in the valedictory program. The congress would not have been a success without the selfless support & guidance and encouragement of IPA, IPA Education Division, IPA Student’s Forum, IPA A.P. State branch, IPA Rajahmundry Local branch, team of Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the LOC team. We also thank scientific partner Omics International and academic institutional sponsors and all Principals for supporting this event.

 Mrs. Manjiri Sandeep Gharat conferred with Pan – Asian Ishidate Award from FAPA

Mrs. Manjiri Gharat received the prestigious Pan‐Asian Ishidate Award for Community Pharmacy at the 27th FAPA Congress held in Manila, the Phillippines on 25th October 2018. She also delivered a talk on Community Pharmacists’ Advancing Role in Patient Care. The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) had nominated Mrs. Gharat for this award. She is the Vice President and Chairperson of Community Pharmacy Division of IPA and the Vice President of Community Pharmacy Section of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

 World Pharmacist Day (WPD), 25th September

IPA Community Pharmacy Division (CPD) made the tool kit for WPD consisting of 3 posters, “Pharmacists: Your Medicines Experts” list. It was posted on IPA website. CPD conducted a national competition of Case Studies for practicing pharmacists, based on the WPD theme, Pharmacists: Your medicines experts. Total of more than 50 cases were received from community, clinical pharmacists and Pharm D interns from across India. The cases were evaluated by Judges who had tough job to select few entries as winners. Each case showed the proactive and caring approach of the Pharmacist and the intervention made a positive difference in the life of a patient indicating how true the WPD theme is. 3 winners were selected and they were given cash awards. All participants were sent e‐Certificate of Participation. Ms. Anu Rao from IPA SF helped in carrying out WPD competition. The WPD was celebrated throughout India by branches and institutes in a befitted manner.

 National Pharmacy Week (NPW) 2018

The National Pharmacy Week was celebrated in the fourth week of November 2018 across the country with rallies with apt slogans and posters. The theme for the year National Pharmacy Week was “Pharmacists for a healthy India”. Through various programs, the association successfully projected pharmacist as a healthcare provider. The state and local branches including institutes celebrated NPW very actively in line with the theme.

The competitions were organized by CPD with support of IPA Education Division and IPA SF for all categories of pharmacy professionals and were successfully completed. Winners were given Certificates and cash prizes.

CPD prepared the educational material (leaflets, articles, logo, and NPW Manual) which were uploaded on the IPA website and sent to branches.

 IPA Devinder Pal National Elocution Competition 2018

For the Thirtieth consecutive year, IPA held the National Elocution Competition (NEC) amongst the students of Pharmacy Colleges all over India. The IPA‐Devinder Pal‐National Elocution Competition‐2018 (IPA‐DP‐IPA‐DP‐NEC‐ 2018) final round was conducted on 22nd December 2018 during 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress at Amity University, New Delhi. Dr. G. Nagarjuna Reddy, National Convener, IPA‐DP‐NEC‐2018 welcomed the guests, Judges and Participants. Dr. T.V. Narayana, President, IPA inaugurated the IPA‐DP‐NEC‐2018. The IPA‐DP‐NEC‐2018 was witnessed by the galaxy of intellectuals from Industry, Academia, Regulatory and IPA office bearers along with about 200 budding pharmacists from all over the country.

The IPA‐DP‐NEC‐2018 was conducted in four rounds i) Preliminary/Institution Round ii) State Round (19 states/zones), Nineteen coordinators all over the country have coordinated in conducting IPA‐DP‐NEC‐2018 state round successfully. iii) Semi‐final Round was held on 23rd November 2018 at Hyderabad (21 participants from 12 states/zones) and iv) Final Round (Eight participants from six states have participated). For all the out station participants of semi‐final round free boarding and lodging and Complementary registration & free accommodation for finalist was provided by IPA.

The Eight Contestants of final round of the National elocution competition‐2018 orated on the topic "Pharma Vision 2030 : Indian Pharma Industry‐ A Global Leader". The First place was secured by Ms. Renny Rozario of college of pharmacy of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu; Second place by Ms. Castelino Renita Edwin of J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, Ootackmand, Tamil Nadu and third place by Ms. Rashmi Anand Shukla Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The winners of first, second & third place were given certificate, memento and cash award of Rs.20000/‐, Rs.10000/‐ & Rs.5000/‐ respectively. The cash awards for winners of the National elocution competition ‐ 2018 were sponsored by the Dr. M. Venkateswarlu Memorial Lecture Endowment fund.

Highlights of the year

 IPA Education Division in Association with Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has organized Work Shop on “Computational Methods in Drug Design” with Schrödinger’s Team, Bangalrore during 9th April, 2018. Dr. P. Pavan Kumar, Assoc. Professor, CHIPS was the convener for this Workshop.

 Organized a Two Day National Seminar on “Green Pharmacy” at M.A.M. College of Pharmacy on 14th – 15 th April, 2018 and conducted several competitions to the students. The Cash Prize worth of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs were distributed to the winners of various events. Medicinal Plants exhibition with more than 500 varieties of Medicinal Plants were exhibited and distributed the plants to various colleges for Plantation. Dr. M. Prasada Rao, Principal, M.A.M College of Pharmacy was the Convener for this Seminar.

 A Mega student event by name “Pharma Ashthra 2K18” was organized at Balaji Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Narsannapet, Warangal during 21st ‐ 22nd April, 2018. More than 2000 student delegates have participated in this event. Prof. T.V. Narayana, Dr. Rao Vadlamudi, several eminent speakers from Pharma Industry and Principals of Several Pharmacy Colleges have shared their expertise for the benefit of Students during this convention. Dr. Raghunandhan, Principal, B.I.P.S was the convener for the two day event.

 The IPA Education division and IPA, AP State branch have jointly organized a three day work shop on “Current Aspects and Orientation on Pharma Industry” at Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guntur and Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, during 28th ‐30th of June and 1st ‐ 3rd of July, 2018. During 20th ‐ 22nd July, 2018 same work shop was organised at St. Peeter’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal in association with IPA, Hanumakonda branch. The three day work shop was conducted in association with Pharma Training Institute, Bangalore.

 The IPA Education division and IPA, AP State branch have jointly organized a three day work shop on “Problem Based Teaching and Learning of Organic & Analytical Chemistry, Module‐III ” at Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guntur during 11th ‐13th of July, 2018. The three day work shop was mainly aimed to train the Faculty of various Pharmacy Colleges, Research Scholars and PG students.

 IPA Education Division has taken up Massive Staff & Student Life Membership Drive during this Session. About 20 No. of Staff Members were enrolled as Life Member Ships, 40 No. of Students were Freshly enrolled as Student Life Members and about 66 No. of Students were Renewed their life memberships as II, III and IV Instalments.

The IPA Education Division is in the process of encouraging Students to form the IPA Student Forums at their respective regions.

 IPA Education Division organized one day Work Shop on “Evolutionary Progress of Pharmaceutical Industries through Regulatory affairs for Product Development” on 25th August, 2018 at Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chowdavaram, Guntur – 19, A.P. Dr. T. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy from Pfizer, Vizag and Dr. Kiran Kumar from Mylan Laboratories, Hyderabad were attended as speakers for the Workshop.

 This year the IPA Education Division has initiated to conduct Mock GPAT Online Tests to the Pharmacy Students through Online Mode. About 15 Online GPAT Practice Tests were conducted from 30th September, 2018 to 6th January, 2019 on every Sunday. More than 800 students across India have registered and Practiced these Mock GPAT Tests. The IPA Education Division has lended cloud computing services from M/s. Inspire Informatics, Hyderabad for successful conduction of Practice GPAT Tests.

 The IPA Education Division has organized IPA‐IPC National Pharma Quiz‐ 2018. The Quiz Competition is organized at three rounds with Preliminary Online Round followed by Semi Final and Final Offline Rounds. The Preliminary Online Round was conducted on 23rd November, 2018. The Semi Final and Final Rounds were conducted on 8th December, 2018 at Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chandramoulipuram, Chowdavaram, Guntur ‐19, A.P, India. About 225 Teams from various colleges across India have participated in the Quiz Competition. The Event was successfully conducted and a detailed report is also submitted separately. Dr. S. Vidyadhara was the Convenor and Dr.G. Sumalatha was the National Quiz Coordinator for the Event.

 IPA Devinder Pal National Elocution Competition‐2018 was also successfully conducted by IPA Education Division. State Level, Semi Final and Final Round Competitions were organized at several places. Dr. G. Nagarjuna Reddy was the National Coordinator for the event. Final round was conducted at 70th IPC, Amity University, Noida on 22nd December, 2018. A detailed Report is already submitted by Dr. G. Nagarjuna Reddy.

 A two day International Seminar on “ Advances in Clinical Pharmacy Services” and Workshop on Anticoagulation was conducted on 13th & 14th December, 2018 at Sri Vishnu College of Pharmacy, Bhimavaram, West Godavari, A.P.

 A One day National Conference on “New Frontiers in Conceptional Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences was organized on 28th December, 2018 at Vallabhaneni Venkatadri Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gudlavalleru, Krishna District, A.P.

 Three Student Chapters were inducted by IPA Education Division during November, December, 2018. The following are the new IPA Student Chapters established: i. IPASF CHIPS Chapter. ii. IPASF ASN Pharmacy, Tenali Chapter. iii. IPASF VVIPS, Gudlavalleru Chapter.

 The IPA Education Division has organized a One day Work Shop on Nano composites as Catalysts for Synthesis of Pharmaceuticals by Prof. J. Sreekantha Babu, Kwazulu‐ Natal University, Durban, South Africa in association with A.P. Akademi of Science at Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chowdavaram, Guntur – 19 during 04/01/2019.

 IPA, Education Division has organized 10th IPA Students Congress in association with IPA, A.P. State Branch, IPA, Rajahmundry Local Branch, which is hosted by Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajahmundry under the able mentor ship of Prof. T.V. Narayana, President, IPA during 16th – 17th February, 2019. More than 2000 students from across India have attended the Congress. Several Scientific Sessions, Student Interactive Sessions and various competitions were conducted during the congress. Cash Prize worth of Rs. 8 Lakhs were given to winners of various competitions, which was solely sponsored by Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

 Health Awareness Campaign’s:‐ Pharmacy students from various parts of country were involved in conducting health awareness campaigns in their respective cities. These include some of the following:  IPA‐SF ASN Student Chapter organized a visit to Leprosy Re habitation Center at Tenali on January 30th 2019.  Cancer awareness campaign held at primary schools by ASN student chapter and IPASF Andhra Pradesh on February 4th 2019  Chebrolu Hanumiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Student Chapter organize a guest lecture on Kidney diseases & its complications on March 14th 2019. a) IPA‐SF MSB‐organized various programmes like: Trekking, Rink football, Literati (literary events related to pharmacy field) b) Aesthetica (artistic events related to pharmacy field).

10thIPA Student Congress: IPA‐SF team actively supported in organizing 10th IPA student congress, Feb. 16&17th 2019 & make it a grand success at Vikas Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh.

Outreach to pharmacy students: The Council expanded its reach to various pharmacy students through an active social media page on face book, instagram, whatsapp group. The Council Members have started online activity called “Pharma Friday” a poll based activity where in certain aspects of pharma based questions would be put in official instagram page every Friday which is happening on regular basis of in order to educate students by providing required & interesting into which as a pharmacist they should know & inturn we can learn & be updated as well.

International Outreach: Chairperson of IPA‐SF , Pragna Ella got Asian Association of schools of pharmacy provided Travel Grant to attend 9th AASP conference at South korea on July 3‐5, 2019.

Highlights of the Year

Industry Projects of CPD: Continuing professional Development programmes in collaboration with Pfizer, Piramal, and Anti‐Microbial Resistance project with GSK. There has been significant inflow from the corporate projects from last 6 years and in the year ending March 2019, huge surplus is generated.

IPA Pfizer Trainings conducted: Total 20 trainings on GPP, Medication Errors in different parts of the country were conducted for practicing pharmacists under IPA Pfizer collaboration. Programmes were held all across India in different cities: Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Indore and Bangalore. IPA’s role in this collaboration is to organize a speaker, and Pfizer organizes the venue and other logistics. Thanks to IPA state and local branches for suggesting a speaker when contacted.

IPA GSK Collaboration Anti‐Microbial Resistance project Webinar was conducted by IPA CPD with GSK on Role of Pharmacist in tackling AMR under India Inspiration Meet series. This webinar was telecasted on 23rd November 2018 during antibiotic awareness week and later on few other days. It reached total 3 lac pharmacists/pharmacy owners across India. It received great response.

WPD Case Study Competition for practicing pharmacists: CPD conducted an innovative competition for practicing pharmacists and it received good response. Total 50 participants, 3 prizes and 5 appreciation certificates.

Attendance at the Congress: Manjiri and Raj Vaidya attended 78th FIP Congress Glasgow, UK .Mrs Manjiri chaired one session, attended Steering Committee and ExCo meetings of FIP CPS and CPA meeting. Mrs. Manjiri was elected as Vice‐ President of FIP CPS.

National Pharmacy Week 2018: CPD prepared all the material like posters, leaflets, powerpoint presentation, Activity Guide for NPW 2018 on the theme “Pharmacists for a healthy India”. Mrs Manjiri , Raj Vaidya and Anu Rao worked for preparation of all NPW material.

IPA CPD e‐Times: 6 issues were released in one year and each issue received excellent feedback from readers. Team of Mrs. Manjiri, Raj Vaidya along with a project associate Ms Anu Rao, Ms Radiya Mahale manage the eTimes preparation and e‐distribution. Mr Karthik Rakam is a regular contributor for one of the columns Drug Watch. Daffodil designers, Bangalore design the eTimes.

 One day national seminar on “Industrial Pharmacy, Quality Control, Assurance and Management” IPA – Tamilnadu Branch was organized. More than 600 delegates from various pharmacy institutions were participated and benefited from the seminar.  Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association organized the 4th Edition of Pharmac South on 6th and 7th of July 2018 in Chennai Trade Centre. IPA – IPD actively participated. On July 6th 2018 the 4th Edition was inaugurated by Shir. K. Gnanadesikan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Tamilnadu. Buyer Seller meet was inaugurated by Dr. J. Radhakrishnan., IAS., Principal Secretary to Government, Health and Family Wellfare, Tamil Nadu. The occasion was felicitated by S. V. Veerramani, Past National President IDMA, Mr. K. Sivabalan, Director of Drugs Control and Mrs Shanthy Gunasekaran, Deputy Drugs Controller of India, CDSCO. During this event a Pharma Expo was organized where exhibitors participated from across the country. The theme of this year Pharmac South is “Challenges and Opportunities for Start‐Ups and Growing Companies in Pharma “Marketing / Branding / Regulatory & Supply Chain”. On 7th July 2018, Dr. T. V. Nagar (NIPER‐S) on ‘‘Development of Formulations of Sensitive Drugs’ on 5th October, 2018 for Small and Medium Pharmaceutical Industrial Centre (SMPIC) at Mohali. The seminar was attended by more than 50 professionals from Pharma Industry  Chairman & Secretary met the Industries secretary of Tamilnadu to bring out the industrial policy & the same is expected to be released in January 2019 at the Global Investors Meet in Chennai.

Patients Counseling Centre Dr. Suresh Sarvedkar has set up "Patients Counseling Centre" at OPD of Sir Sundar Lal Hospital, IMS‐BHU, for education of patients on adherence to medicines treatment and proper use of medicines in February '2019 also he was nominated as Chairman of Antimicrobial and Infection Control Committee of IMS, BHU, he has initiated many activities towards Rational Use of Antibiotics Proper use of disinfectants and training activities for nurses and ward staff at IMS‐BHU "Hospital Formulary” was prepared by Dr Sarvedkar for Sir Sundar Lal Hospital and Trauma center under IMS‐BHU " with guidelines for Rational Use of Medicines for clinicians.

 Chairman RAD who was also President of IPA Bengal Branch was engaged in organizing “Refresher Course for Registered Pharmacist” as per PPR‐2015. Under his leadership a course curriculum has been framed and it was duly approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). Dr. Mandal delivered more than 20 lectures in 20 such courses during 2018‐2019.  Delivered a lecture on “Role of Drug Formulary in Sustainable Healthcare” organized by CARPS, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University, held at Dr. H.L.Roy Auditorium, on 25th May 2018.  Supported in organizing a “Workshop on GMP Norms: Global Quality Management in Pharmaceuticals” organized by the School of Pharmaceutical Technology, Adamas University, Barasat, West Bengal. Mandal and Dr. Tulsi Chakrabarti joined as speaker along with Mr. Alok Ghosh, President (Technical), Lupin Laboratories.  Attended and delivered a lecture entitled “Rational Use of Antimicrobials: a tool for containment of AMR” in the “UK‐India Newton Bhabha Researcher Link Workshop” on “Scopes and challenges for the development of novel antimicrobial agents from Ayurvedic medicinal plants to combat the problem of antimicrobial resistance” organized jointly by Newton Bhabha Fund, British Council, Royal Society of Chemistry & Jadavpur University during 04‐07 September 2018. The programme was inaugurated by the Minister of State of Labour, Govt. of W.B. Mr. Jakir Hossain, with lightening the lamp. He has also address the guests regarding the seminar with his valuable views on healthcare system to build the society strong, effects of diseases and protection. Various experts deliberated on different topics during the seminar.  Made a presentation in 6th International Congress of Society for Ethnopharmacology on “Ashwagandha and its Formulations: Varying Regulatory status round the Globe” at Manipal University, Manipal on 8th February 2019.  Made presentation on “Pharmacists in Drug Information services” in one day Refresher Course for Registered Pharmacists organized by IPA Bengal Branch supported by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) at Suri, Birbhum on 17, 23 & 24, February and 2, 3 & 17, March 2019 .  Participated in an interview by Hindustan Times, Delhi edition on the Clinical Trial rules and death during clinical trial, which was published on 12.02.2019.& 19.04.2019.  Regularly sending regulatory updates to the RAD members through e mails. This service is highly appreciated by the members.  RAD in Media: Opinion of Chairman on several issues published in several issues of Pharmabiz, Pharmapulse, DNA News, Hindusthan Times, local news papers and electronic media. Dr. Mandal delivered a lecture on AMR which was telecasted in Doordorshan.

Achievement: IPA‐Regulatory Affairs Division (RAD) already has established its efficiency in strengthening regulatory structure in both Govt. and private structure. Now this division is well recognized by several Govt. agencies and seeking opinion of IPA regarding framing and amending any legislation related to Pharmaceutical profession. Now our aim is to propagate the concept of regulatory sciences and its implementation in improving therapeutic outcome.

During the period under review, Volume 50 was completed and Volume 51 was commenced, Dr. Alka Mukne was the Editor. Neha Dabholkar, Nivedita Hegdekar, Pooja Kulthe, Rasika Dharap, Rishab Babel Sania Kothari. Seline Dantes, Shrey Gohil, Snehal Shenoy, Shubhangi Kamalia, Soham Yande, Tamanna Gidwani and Vibhusha Dube were appointed as Editorial Assistants.

During this period, Pharma Times has special issues focused on Dissolution Sciences & Applications in June 2018, Digitization in Healthcare in November and Personalized Medicines in March 2019 respectively.

Pharma Times special issue on “Dissolution Sciences & Applications” was supported by Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution sciences (SPDS) and it was released at Disso India 2018 conference, held at Hyderabad held on 28th & 29th June, 2018.

Aptar Pharma India Pvt. Ltd. And Optel Vision Pvt. Ltd. supported the Pharma Times November, 2018 special issue on “Digitization in Healthcare”.

A total of 54 articles and 7 book reviews were published in Pharma Times. Several features including Interviews, Advocacy Corner, Pharma Wits & Leisure, PharmaScene, Reminiscenes and Pharmexcil updates were included in this period.

The editorial team of Pharma Times is grateful to all members and other pharmaceutical professionals for their continued support in sending articles for publication in Pharma Times. Many experts assisted the team as Reviewers for the books received for Review. The Editor acknowledges the contribution made by the reviewers.  Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

During the reporting period of April 2018‐March 2019, all issues of Volume 80 were published as well as the issue 1 of Volume 80. For the term 2018‐2019, Dr. Divakar Goli was the Editor and Srinvas Kavati was the Assistant Editor. Mr. Ganesh Andhale, Mr. Mr. Anudeep Balla, Dr. Manjunath P. Mudagal, Dr. Gurubasavaraja Swamy, and Dr. Suresh Janadri, were the editorial assistants.

During the calendar year 2018, IJPS received a total of 1436 papers, out of which 1340 articles were rejected in the preliminary screening while the rest were subjected to suitability evaluation for further processing. Among these, around 96 articles were sent to reviewers and each article was sent to 4‐6 reviewers. In the 6 issues of Volume 80, 101 Research papers, 34 Short communications, and 12 Review articles were published taking the total number of articles published to 147 (average 24.5 articles per issue) of which 37.4% (55 articles) articles were by foreign authors. A total of 240 scientists from India and abroad reviewed these 147 articles published in volume 80. Average publication lag time of an article stood at 7 ‐ 9 months. Efforts are in progress to increase the average number of articles published per issue and reduce the average publication lag time to less than 7 months.

The JCR Impact factor of IJPS for the year 2017 is 0.73 and the SJR index for 2018 is 0.26. The H‐index of the journal stood at 50 and IJPS ranked first among all journals in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences published in India, ranked 2nd in Asia and 47th in the world. The editor and the editorial team along with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association express their deep sense of gratitude to all the authors and the referees for their valuable assistance in bringing out yet another volume of this journal.

Apart from the routine Association news & happenings, conference information of various partnership events with IPA was uploaded for the benefit of the members. D.; M.Pharm & B.Pharm guided the higher Secondary Students. Several competitions like PCUBE Model, Prescription Audit, Compounding & Dispensing, Formulation Development, Instrument Validation and Compendial Screening were organized. Guest Lecture by ASN Pharmacy College on Role of Pharmacist in Healthcare at ASN Pharmacy College. Students took Pharmacists oath. The college gave financial support for the event.

Exhibition 3 day exhibition on ‘CHIPS PHARMA EXPO – 2K18’ organized on 1st – 3rd Nov., 2018. Expenditure of Rs. 406,858/‐ supported by CHIPS & Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Featured 145 live exhibits, 400 varieties of medicinal plants and Student talent Test. 6855 students attended

Two day SERB DST Sponsored National Seminar 23rd ‐ 24th November, 2018: The branch in collaboration with the department of pharmaceutical sciences organized a two day SERB DST sponsored national seminar on Emerging global Trends in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology during 23‐24 November 2018 with major financial assistance from SERB DST GOI. The event started at 10.00 am. With welcome speech by prof. Malay Das Convener Pharma Nanotech 2018 followed by the inauguration of the event by lighting of the lamp and speech y Prof. RNS Yadav Dean School of science and engineering Dibrugarh University. A total number of 15 oral talks and 47 posters were presented by students, research scholars and faculties from various academic and research Institutions.

14.12.2018 : An invited talk with organized by the branch on 14.12.2018 Prof. Yashwant Pathak, form the dept. of Pharmacy Dean, Faculty Affairs, and university of South Florida, USA Dr. Vijay Swami, executive Director RIWATCH, Rowing, Arunchal Pradesh and Dr. Ista Pulu Senior Gynecologist, Rowing General Hospital Arunachal Pradesh presented their lecture.

NPW Celebration 16th – 17th November, 2018: The 57th NPW was celebrated in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University on 16 and 17th November 2018. The branch jointly organized the program with the department of pharmaceutical sciences, Dibrugarh University with great endeavor. The program was inaugurated by hoisting the IPA flag by prof. Ranjit Tamuli, Hon. Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Dr. B. B. Kakoti, Hon. Secretary IPA branch Prof D. Chetia, Head of Department of Pharmaceutical and Prof. B. Mazumder, President the branch spoke on the occasion.

Various programs like health camp Quiz competition, Alumni meet cultural program etc. were organized. A souvenir Pharmarian was inaugurated on the occasion featuring articles from various writers and students. The highlight of the event was the health camp where 16 doctors from various disciplines from Assam Medical College 2 dentist and 2 pharmacists from Dibrugarh University Health center and from outside and students had participated.

Reconstitution of the Guwahati Local Branch: Guwahati local had shifted their services and had joined Institutions, the local branch was asked to reconstitute the Executive committee afresh as per the guidance of central committee of IPA. They have called for a general body meeting on 22.5.2019 and had reconstituted a new committee where the members elected in different posts.

The pharma newsletter is being published regularly by the branch under the editorship of Prof. D. Chetia, Executive Member of IPA. Various news items pertaining to pharmaceutical education R & D news, Pharma Seminars and conference are published.

Drug Information Bulletin: A bi‐weekly e‐ bulletin published jointly by IPA‐Bengal and IPA –RAD. For the year April, 18 – March, 19, 26 issues of volume 12 were published and also archived on IPA headquarter website. This bulletin has got a good reputation in India as well as outside India, like, USA, Switzerland, Srilanka, Thailand etc.

Refresher Course for Registered Pharmacists as per PPR 15. ‐ From 1st April, 2018 – 31st March, 2019, IPA‐Bengal has organized as many as 58 PCI approved refresher courses at various places in West Bengal.

Letters to Different Authorities: Request letter to Director of Health services, Govt. West Bengal, to allow on duty working pharmacists to participate in refresher courses conducted by IPA‐Bengal. It was granted by the concerned authority. (24/04/2018). Letter to the Registrar, West Bengal State Pharmacy Council regarding approval of refresher course as per PPR 15.

Health Camp at Tarakeshwar, Hooghly – from 22nd July to 6th August, 2018 – On the eve of Shrabani Mela at Tarakeshwar temple, IPA Bengal arranged a health camp to cater to the pilgrims coming. The camp was successfully conducted by treating around 3547 patients for various problems like dehydration, foot injuries, muscle sprains etc.

Health Camp at Maligeria, Pingla, Paschim Medinipur on 3rd September, 2018 and 27th October, 2018. – IPA Bengal Branch & IPA Bengal Pharma & Healthcare Trust jointly organized a health camp in association with Swami Vivekananda Sangha. A rally was organized to distribute bleaching powder, oil pesticide for mosquitos in the wake of Dengue outbreak. Villagers were made aware of precautions to be taken for same.

Celebration of World Pharmacist’s Day: 25th September 2018 – Working Pharmacists, Teachers, students, representatives of various pharmacists Associations under the leadership of IPA‐Bengal branch celebrated the World Pharmacist’s Day on 25th September 2018 with great enthusiasm. Celebrations included interactive sessions, lectures and presentations by dignitaries, pharmacists and students on the theme ‘Pharmacist – Your Medicine expert’. Also a silent rally was organized peacefully with the help of Kolkata Police. The program was covered in various print and electronic media.

IPA‐Devinder Pal – National Elocution Competition on 10th November, 2018 – 8 institutions from West Bengal participated in the preliminary rounds. 7 selected from preliminary round participated in the State round held on 10/11/18 at IPA auditorium. Two of them reached till the final round. The event was coordinated by Dr. S. C. Mandal.

57th National Pharmacy Week – 18th – 25th November, 2018 18th November, 2018 – Inauguration by Hon Speaker of Legislative Assembly Sri Biman Banerjee at Jadavpur University. 19th November, 2018 – At Institute of Pharmacy, Kalyani and Adamas University. Organized a rally for awareness of theme ‘Pharmacists for Healthy India’. Lectures were arranged. 20th November, 2018 – A blood donation camp was organized by Institute of Pharmacy, Kalyani in association with various other institutes and IPA‐Bengal. 22nd February, 2019 – Amendment of IPA – GSB Rules & Bye laws ‐ Rules & Bye laws adopted on 24th March, 2017 were amended on 22nd February, 2019 by incorporation of section 14.3 that provided for appointment of trustees of V.B. Patel Education Trust as per the provision of B.V. Patel Education Trust Deed. IPA State Branch after deliberations in the SEC made recommendations for appointment of 6 trustees of B.V. Patel Education Trust on 18th March, 2019.

22nd February, 2019 – Continuing Pharmacy Education – As per the recommendation of SEC, IPA GSB initiated Continuing Pharmacy Education program to be arranged on last Friday of every month jointly with and at L/M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad. The first program was held on 22nd February 2019, when a lecture on Digital Media & Digital Marketing was given by Founder Director of BoomBox. Student Public Speaking: A competition for Public Speaking was organized by IPA‐Jharkhand State Branch on 29th August 2018 at BIT, Ranchi. Three prizes were declared. On this occasion, Dr. R. N. Gupta informed the audience about the importance of taking IPA membership.

Quiz Competition: IPA‐Jharkhand State Branch organized a quiz competition. It was divided into preliminary and final rounds. In the final round 8 teams participated. Winners were decided after completing 6 rounds.

IPA Pharma Cup Tournament: IPA‐Jharkhand State Branch arranged a cricket tournament from 20th Feb 2019 to 22nd March 2019. Inauguration by Dr. R. N. Gupta on 20th February 19 and ended on 22nd March 19 by final round played between final year B.Pharm and M.Pharm.

IPA Annual Convention. 2018 ‐ The 12th Annual Convention of IPA was organized by IPA Jeypore local branch in association with Odisha Pharmacy Intellectual Forum. Prof. B. Suresh addressing the inaugural day two day national conference synchropharma 2019 as the Chief Guest Prof. B. Suresh and pharmacist can play an important troll in reducing health expenditure on patients by becoming super specialist. Workshop on Good Manufacturing Practices and Updates in Pharmaceutical Industry A 3 day’s workshop was organized for the Pharmacy college faculties in Southern region of Tamilnadu from 22nd to 24th December 2018 by The Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical University in association with IPA TNSB & IDMA TNPKSB. The inauguration program was held on 22nd December 2018 at University Senate Hall, Presided by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Geethalakshmi & Chief Guest IPA President Dr. S. Manivannan. Followed by the inauguration, lectures delivered by industry experts and one day industrial visit arranged for them.

The event started with a vision to serve and help the needy people by distributing food packets and fruit juice to patients at DOON Hospital. b. The team met the Medical Superintendent of Doon Hospital and extended financial support to meet the medicine expenses of needy poor patients. c. On this special day, the fellow pharmacists of nearby medical stores, were requested to offer special discount on medicines to help the needy. d. On 24th November, 2018, a team of faculty of Pharmacy visited the orphanage and sponsored one day breakfast. e. Pharmacists also spread awareness of Dengue among the public and distributed 200 prescription files. f. Same day fruits and medicines were distributed in an old age home.

25.9.2018 – In association with Drug Control Administration, Tirupati, we celebrated the world pharmacist day with the theme of Pharmacists – Your medicines Expert. Palm plates were distributed to the out patients in SVIMS and SVVRRGG Hospital, Tirupati and educated the safe usage of medications.

14.11.2018 – World Diabetics Day The branch in association with Lions club, Tirupati a medical camp was conducted on the world diabetic’s day. The aim of conducting this medical camp was to know the health conditions of villagers and support them in the various health related issues. The tests like BP BGL and BMI were also conducted in their camp 250 villagers availed our services in the camp. Mandlapudi villages Sarpanch, Sri Venkata Ramana garu provided lunch for our volunteers.

25.3.2019 – Health Awareness camp A health awareness camp was conducted in our adopted village Mundlapudi by all our volunteers. During the rally, pamphlets about health awareness were distributed to the villagers.

12.7.2018 Dental Camp The branch in association with NSS unit of Vikas Institute of pharmaceutical science organized a camp on dental checkup on the college premises on 12.7.2018. The dental checkup was done by Prof. Dr. Vishwaprakash Shetty from KLE LENORA institute of dental sciences Rajahmundry.

16.7.2018 Mega Blood Donation Camp The branch in association with Vikas Institute of pharmaceutical science organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with blood bank of Rajahmundry government hospital, on 16.7.2018. The camp being at 10.000 am with short inaugural function where in Dr. Suhasini and her five mebers team was given a floral welcome.

25.8.2018 Relief fund for kerala flood victims The branch in collaboration with Vikas Institute of pharmaceutical science collected the money from various people for the purpose of helping in KERALA and KODAGU flood affected areas. 16 students participated in the activity on 25.8.2018.

16‐17 February 2019 – National IPA Student Congress The 10th National IPA congress was hosted by local branch which was organized at Vikas Institute of pharmaceutical science during 16‐17 February 2019 with the theme need based education changes envisaged. 15th August, 2018: Independence Day ‐ IPA‐Anantpura in association with NSS Unit of RIPER, hoisted the Flag on the occasion of Independence Day and undertook mass Cleaning Drive under the Swacha Bharat Program. More than 350 students, non‐teaching staff and faculty took part in cleaning the campus.

5th September, 2018: Teacher’s Day ‐ IPA‐Anantpura in association with NSS Unit of RIPER celebrated the teacher’s day by organizing various games. The winners were felicitated with mementos. The teachers shared their experience and happiness being a teacher.

24th September, 2018: NSS Founders Day ‐ IPA‐Anantpura in association with NSS Unit of RIPER celebrate this day every year. Under the guidance of NSS Program officer, students and faculty took the NSS oath.

Guest lecture organized by Dr. Vinod Burade, Sun Pharma Industries ltd., Vadodara The branch and Anand Pharmacy College had organized a guest lecture on 27.7.2018 on the topic recent trends in preclinical screening of anticancer drugs. The talk was delivered by Dr. Vinod Burade from Sun Pharma Ltd., Vadodara. Cancer as a disease has not been comprehensively defeated and remains a massive challenge for future generations of researchers.

National Pharmacy week celebration 2018 The branch celebrated national pharmacy week on 30.7.2018 at Anand Pharmacy college campus on the theme of Pharmacists for a healthy India. Every year the IPA celebrates the national pharmacy week all over India in the third week of November. IPA has been recommending that the activities and celebrations based on the theme should continue the whole year round, with enthusiasm and zeal. This will help us to give more time to our efforts, and also sustain it round the year. The theme was pharmacists for a healthy India. Total 192 students have actively participated in different events and the whole national pharmacy week was coordinated by Dr. Veena Patel, associate professor, under guidance of Dr. Tejal Gandhi, Principal Smt. Jyotsana ben Patel, Hon. Secretary, Shri. Ramakrishna Seva Mandal had congratulate all team members and students for active participation in events. Following events were organized during national pharmacy week. Each event was judged by two judges. Elocution, poem, pharmacy debate, pharma rangoli, pharma wod, phamrtoon, cross word.

Free women health check‐up and awareness camp at Fangani village. Fangani is a village in Petlad taluka in Anand District of Gujarat. It is located 17 km towards west from district headquarters Anand. The branch with Shri. Krishna hospital, Karamsad had organized free women health checkup and awareness camp a Fangani village on 31.7.2018 and 1.8.2018. It aims to spread awareness about health and hygiene amongst women, address various health problems faced by them along with early detection and prevention. Extension program SPARSH is run by Shri. Krishna Hospital with the aim to spread awareness about breast and cervical cancer and free primary checkup in remote areas. Expert consultation was offered by Dr. Rachna R. Sharma, Assistant medical officer, Shri Krishna Hospital. Students of Anand Pharmacy College had performed play and had spread breast cancer awareness through poster presentation in vernacular language.

Guest lecture organized by Mr. Pranav Pandya, Sun Pharma Industries Ltd., Vadodara Anand Pharmacy College with the branch had organized a guest lecture on 4.8.2018 on the topic challenges and key aspects of regulatory submission. The talk was delivered by Mr. Pranav Pandya, Senior manager Sun Pharma Industries Ltd., Vadodara. A regulatory authority is usually established for administrative control. To protect public health, governments need to approve comprehensive laws and regulations and to establish effective national regulatory authorities to ensure that the manufacture, trade and use of medicines are regulated appropriately.

Higher secondary School Anand, Various aspects were covered in awareness program like what is pharmacy? Know your pharmacist, self‐medication, consequences of irresponsible use of medicines, Tips on taking medicines, medicines and children etc. Total 113 students of 12th standard were beneficiaries of the awareness program.

World pharmacist day celebration With the aim to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world, the branch and Anand pharmacy college celebrated world pharmacist day on 25.9.2018. First Year B. Pharm had performed street play on theme pharmacists your medicine expert at Kanjari village of Kheda Dist. Students enlightened that pharmacists are a trusted source of knowledge and advice for patients through skit performance. Further they explained about quality, performance and regulation of approved generic medicines, how generic medicines differ from branded medicines by poster presentation to general public. They walked in street of kanjari village with slogan your pharmacists a partner for good health and holding different flash cards that highlighted role of pharmacists. Mr. Devang Tandel, Ms. Janki Patel and Mr. Shreyas Divakar accompanied students during awareness program at Kanjari village.

IPA Devinder Pal national elocution competition 2018 (NEC)– Preliminary Round. The NEC 2018 preliminary round was organized at Anand Pharmacy College on 1.10.2018 the topic for preliminary round of the NEC 2018 was pharmacists for a healthy India. Total 5 students participated in the event. Event was judged by Dr. Sarika Kohari, Ms. Hiteksha Panchal, Ms. Jigisha Patel, Assistant Professor, Anand Pharmacy College. Each students were given total 8 minute time for their speech with warning bell after 6 minutes.

IPA Devinder Pal National Elocution Competition (NEC) 2018 – State Round. Anand Pharmacy College with branch organized state round of NEC 2018 on 3.11.2018 at Anand Pharmacy College. Dr. Tejal Gandhi, Principal Anand Pharmacy College was coordinator of the state round competition. Event was inaugurated by prayer, lamp lightning and SRKSM song. Total 10 studnets of different college of Gujarat state were presented their speech for state round competition on the topic pharmacists are your medicines experts. Evaluators were distinguished personalities from industry and academia. Participants were given a code during registration and their identity was kept confidential during elocution competition. Each students were given total 8 minutes time for their speech with warning bell after 6 minutes.

Guest lecture organized by Shri. Ketan Naik, Executive Director, Astral Steritech Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara. The branch and Anand Pharmacy College had organized a guest lecture on 3.11.2018 on the topic basic for strategic approach to career planning. Strategic career planning is essential for career development as it can help ensure that one remain focused. The talk was delivered by Shri. Ketan Naik, Executive Director, Astral Steritech Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara.

Guest lecture organized by Mr. Sudhan Marathe, Senior Director, Pfizer Global. The branch in association with Anand Pharmacy College had organized a guest lecture on 2.1.2019 on the topic scale up and technology transfer. The goal to technology transfer activities is to transfer product and process knowledge between development and manufacturing, and within or between manufacturing sites to achieve product realization. The talk was delivered by Mr. Sudhan Marathe, Senior Director, Pfizer Global. He highlighted to the students regard past, current and future aspects of process development, scale up and technology transfer in commercial manufacturing of pharmaceutical dosage form.

Awareness camp on rational use of Medicine at Mogar Village. Awareness camp on rational use of medicine was organized by IPA CPD, IPA local branch with Anand Pharmacy College at mogar village on 19.12.2018. Objective of the camp was to aware villagers regarding rational use of antibiotics. Students explained how generic medicines differ from branded medicines by poster presentation. They approach one to one basis in village and explain them about objective of the awareness camp. Awareness camp was coordinated by Mr. Shreyas Dvakar under guidance of Dr. Veena Patel, Hon. Secretary, branch and Dr. Tejal Gandhi, President Branch.

Free medical health checkup camp at Mogar village. A free medical health checkup was organized by local branch and Anand Pharmacy College in association with Anand homeopathic hospital on 2.12.2018 at mogar village where around 65 patients were examined. Free physical examination along with blood sugar and BMI were carried out by team of homeopathic doctors and student volunteers of Anand Pharmacy College. Doctors advised them various medicines and consultation during the camp. Students had counsel them regarding diet, exercise weight control in diabetes by poster presentation.

World Suicide Prevention ‐ IPA‐ Mangalore in association with Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Managalore observed ‘WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY’ on 10th September, 2018. Members of IPA and students of pharmacy took part in a rally in Mangalore city to highlight the significance of preventing suicides. Dr. A. R. Shabaraya addressed the rally and emphasized on the role of pharmacist to bring about such awareness.

World Heart Day 29th September, 2018 – Program organized in Panambur beach to attract the attention of general public and highlighted the risk posed by cardiac disease. They also suggested preventive measures for a healthy, sound heart and life free of cardiac disorders. A spots event and Marathon Run was also organized, which was inaugurated by National Level Body Builder, Shri Prithvi Hegde. Large number of students, executive council members of IPA‐Mangalore participated in the marathon.

57th National Pharmacy week celebration ‐ The branch celebrated 57th National pharmacy week from 5‐8th December 2018 with various events at JSS College of pharmacy, Mysuru.

5th December 2018 the branch collaboration with department of pharmacy practice JSSS college of Pharmacy, Mysuru, organized a health screening camp for the benefit of public of Mysuru city at three different locations viz. Bal Bhavan, Chamundi hills footsteps and Lalith Mahal gate between 6.00 am. And 10 am.The aim of the health screening was to sensitize the people about the importance of regular monitoring of health and safe use of medicines.

Drug Abuse Awareness to High School Students: on 28th June, 2018, IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy conducted the above program at Anjuman PU Arts, Science and Commerce College. The speaker highlighted the reasons, types of drug abuse and ways to tackle them.

Nutraceuticals – A total Energy – On 25th July, 2018 ‐ IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy conducted an awareness program on Nutraceuticals. Prof. Hullati lectured on the nutrient value of food in a guest lecture under the topic mentioned. 120 ‐130 B.Sc. students attended.

An awareness program on ‘Community based Storage of Medicines’ was organized by IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy on 6th October 2018. Mrs. Anjana Adhyapak, Asst Prof Dept. Quality Assurance – KLE College of Pharmacy spoke about correct storage and handling of drugs.

Another awareness program on Anti Biotic Resistance was organized by IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy on 10th October, 2018. Mr. Sanjay Ugare Asst. Prof. Dept. Pharmacology spoke about the correct usage of antibiotics and the major concern of developing resistance to them. Program was attended by 100‐ 110 students

World Pharmacists Day was celebrated on 19th October, 2018 at by IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy. Drug information pamphlet was distributed to the patients. The information provided by IPA –main was displayed in more than 50 pharmacies in Belgavi.

On 22nd November 2018, an awareness program of Generic Medicines was conducted. On the eve of World Leprosy Day, an awareness program facilitated by IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy was conducted. A lecture was organized with the topic ‘Safe Use of Antileprotic Drugs in Community Pharmacy’ on 22nd November 2018.

4th February 2019 saw an awareness program being organized by IPA –Belgavi in association with KLE College of Pharmacy. Dr. Shankar Alegaon delivered a lecture on ‘Enhancing Medication Adherence in Cancer Patients. 30 ‐35 patients and nursing staff of KLE Cancer hospital benefitted.

On 16th March, 2019, World Kidney Day was observed. A talk on ‘Hazardous Effects of Pain Killers on Kidney Diseases ’’ was delivered by Dr. Satish Karoli, Asst. Prof. Dept. World Obesity Day on 11.10.2018 We in Acharya & BM Reddy College of Pharmacy organized a poster presentation program to increase the awareness among people. The event was inaugurated by guest of honor Dr. Ajith Kamath, Executive Director Mitra Biotech Bengaluru chief guest Mr. A.G. Raghu Santhana Gopala Consultants. The seminar started with an inaugural ceremony, the Principal Dr. Giles and the head of the department of pharmaceuticals Dr. Venkatesh Addressed the gathering and gave us a brief about the seminar. After the inaugural was completed the speakers address the gathering. The seminar mainly focused on the focused on the different field of non –based delivery system. Mr. Ashish Dhayani delivered his talk on Vascularised composite allotransplantation. As this topic was new field of us the gathering showed their interest by asking many doubts to the speaker.

Celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 25.9.2018 On the occasion of world pharmacist day a mega pharma rally was organized under the banner of the branch in association with druggist and chemist organization. Around seven hundred students of various pharmacy college. Dr. Shyamsunder Nikam civil surgeon district general hospital flag the pharma rally.

One day seminar was organized on drug design and discovery at Vidya Bharathi College of Pharmacy dated 28.9.2018 seminar was delivered by Dr. Rahul Ingle from Aurangabad. One day state level symposium and poster presentation completion on current trends in pharma production was organized under the banner of the branch at Vidyabharati College of Pharmacy Amravati on 23.2.2019. The function was started by Lamp lightening and Godless SARASWATI Poojan Dr. K. K. Tapar, Principal Vidyabharati College of Pharmacy delivered introductory speech.

The branch conduced tree plantation drive on the occasion of world pharmacist day on 25.9. 2018 The main purpose of this drive was to plant medicinal saplings in the societies and explain their uses to the residents so that they can use these plants efficiently in future. The society members were informed to take care of the saplings and to grow and nourish the plants.

16.1.2019 a guest lecture was conducted by the branch at Bharati Vidypeeth poona college of pharmacy. The guest lecturer for this seminar was Mr. Mohan Rao Addi. He is a research associate at Aurabindo Pharmaceuticals Hyderabad. He is currently pursuing Ph. D. in Poona College of pharmacy.

Guest lecture on abroad opportunities on 3.10.2018 venue: Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Katraj Speaker Mr. Nilanjan Shah, Imperial Overseas Consultancy.

The flash mob for cancer awareness was conducted by the branch at the seasons Mall Premises on 10.2.2019 on account of the world cancer awareness day.

INVICTA 4 sporting encounter 2019 organized by branch on 23‐24 February 2019. There were three events namely throw ball, badminton and volley ball in which approximately 150 students of different pharmacy colleges participated. The branch organized a blood donation drive as a part of community service on 5.3.2019. The campaign took place at Gokul Nagar, Katraj. The campaign was done in collaboration with Bharati Hospital and Research Centre blood bank and Gowad Dewasi Raika Samaji Navyuka Mandal.

The branch along with Poona College of pharmacy organized a guest lecture on future prospects in pharmacy for all M. Pharm and Pharm. D students of the college on 16.3.2019 It was attended by 200 students. The session was conducted 59

National Pharmacy week celebration Awareness rally 20.11.2018 National Pharmacy week celebrated had been celebrated by the branch. As part of the celebration an awareness rally was organized in coordination with PSG College of pharmacy. The theme I am a Pharmacist on 25.11.2018. Around 600 students with 30 faculty members have participated in the rally.

In continuation a PowerPoint completion was also organized to the students of Pharmacy College in Coimbatore zone in coordination with the college of pharmacy, SRIPMS Coimbatore on the theme I am a Pharmacist on 22.11.2018. Workshop on Computer Aided Drug Development – 15‐16 December 2018. Sponsored The Tamil Nadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University, Chennai. The first of the program for the intensive dissemination of CADD. The guest of honor Dr. M. Ramananthan Principal PSG College of Pharmacy Spoke about the use of computers and a computational method permeate all aspects of drug discovery and forms the core of structure based drug design and development.

World Pharmacists Day: Celebrated with full enthusiasm on 25th September 2018 at D.S.T.S Mandal’s College of Pharmacy, Solapur in association with IPA‐Solapur Branch and Solapur Chemists and Druggists Association. During this occasion, a poster competition with the WPD theme ‘Pharmacist – Your Medicine Expert’ was organized. Winners of the competition were felicitated. Practicing community pharmacists and teachers were felicitated too. A lecture on the topic ’Indian and International scenario of various pharma sectors and the opportunities in the field of Pharmacy ’.

National Pharmacy Week: Celebrated from 3rd to 8th January, 2019 by IPA – Solapur, DSTS College pf Pharmacy and Solapur Chemists and Druggists Association.

3rd January – Inauguration: Dr. M. S. Ganachari, from KLE university, Belgaum was the chief guest. Various talks based on the NPW theme ‘Pharmacists for a Healthy India’ were arranged. Best retail pharmacy competition was held throughout the week, coordinated by Solapur Chemists and Druggists Association. January ‐ 4th Blood Donation camp, Visit to Blood Bank and Thalassemia Centre at Indian Red Cross Society was conducted. Students, staff and chemists donated blood on this occasion

5th & 6th January – A Two day National Workshop on ‘A hands on Training on Effective Use of ICT in Training ‐ Learning’ – organized by Dr> Ajita Deshmukh. More than 60 participated in this event.

7th January ‐ A lecture on ‘Online Pharmacy, A Challenge’ was delivered by Sri Shomeshwar Kharare President MSCDA, West Zone. On the same day Medical Detailing Competition was arranged for Diploma and Degree students.

World Pharmacists Day 2018: Celebrated at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, organized by IPA‐Nilgiris branch on 25th September, 2018. Several outreach activities were organized to raise awareness among society on the theme ‘Pharmacist – Your Medicine Expert’ a. More than 800 Staff and students of JSS College of pharmacy, along with visiting students from Latrobe University, Australia, and the office bearers, practicing pharmacists and members of Chemists and Druggists Association, Nilgiris participated in a rally. Pamphlets describing critical role of pharmacists in healthcare and safe use of medicine, were distributed among public. The participants formed a pharmacists chain in the form of logo of pharmacy as big as 600‐750mtd for 10 minutes. b. On the same day, Dr. S.P. Dhanabal, Principal and OB of IPA‐Nilgiris, distributed stationary items to school children from tribal villages, which are adopted by Ooty. c. Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) conducted in association with Department of Pharmacy Practice for benefit of hospital pharmacists.

5.6.2018 – World Environment Day The branch in association with NSS unit of Vinayaka Mission College of pharmacy celebrated world environment day with theme Beat Plastic Pollution on 5.6.2018 at Vinayaka Mission College campus Salem. This programme was inaugurated by branch President Dr. B. Jaykar. Prof. Dr. B. S. Vekateswarlu, Principal of VMCP delivered vote of thanks. After the meeting as a initiation of our effort towards the protection of environment and restoration of environment sapling of indigenous plants were planted in the VMCP premises by the branch and NSS volunteers.

18.7.2018 – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) Campus cleaning world Swachh Bharat on 18.7.2018 The branch and Vinayak Mission College of Pharmacy, Salem NSS unit organized a Swachh Bharat on 18.7.2018 by cleaning of our Vinayaka Mission college of Pharmacy campus with branch executive committee.

5.9.2018 – Teachers Day Celebration The branch and Vinayaka Mission College of Pharmacy celebrated Teachers Day celebration on 5.9.2018 at our college campus. This programme was celebrated and inaugurated by branch Prof. Dr. S. Venkateshwarlu, Principal Vinayaka Mission College of Pharmacy, Salem, Department HOD’s teaching and non‐teaching staff and students participated this programme.

31.10.2018 – National Unity Day The branch and Vinayaka Mission College of Pharmacy organized Rashtiya Ekta Diwas National Unity Day pledge programme to celebrate the birthday of Sardar Valladhbhai Patel Ji on 31.10.2018 at our college campus. Dr.B. S. Venkateshwarlu, Secretary of branch and Principal VMCP, Salem. The branch and students, staff of Vinayaka Mission College of Pharmacy were taken pledge on National Unity day.

2.11.2018 – Pamphlets Distribution for Dengue Awareness Programme As a part of the service to the community to educate the public and create awareness among the public regarding the Dengue Awareness Programme the branch and Vinayaka Mission College of Pharmacy organized an awareness program on 2.11.2018 in association with government primary health centre, Kannankurichi Salem. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. B. S. Venkateshwarlu, Principal VMCP.
