Outing to Traquair Medieval Fayre

On Saturday 28th May ten of us enjoyed a full day outing to the Medieval Fayre at Traquair House near Peebles. Our coach was parked in the grounds adjacent to the tea room, the house, the Walled Garden and the activities and displays. The Walled Garden was filled with stalls and displays of crafts of the medieval period. Stall holders and exhibitors were all in costume as they displayed the Behind the tea room was a hog roast and ancient skills. barbecue. Liquid refreshments and ice cream were also available. The gruel vendor did not appear to have much custom!

In the main avenue cannons were fired and mock longbow battles took place. The jousting tournament showed the thrills, spills, and magnificent action watched over by the Lady Sapphire, as knights battled for her favour.
