ROBBY BROWN QUARTERBACKS COLLEGE: GEORGIA TECH NFL: FIFTH SEASON DOLPHINS: FIRST SEASON Robby Brown enters his fifth season as an NFL coach and first with the Dolphins after being named quarterbacks coach on Jan. 20, 2020. Brown has experience working on both sides of the football and at a variety of levels, including a four-year stint (2015-18) with the New York Jets. Most recently, Brown served as a special assistant to the head coach and senior offensive analyst at West Virginia in 2019. At West Virginia, Brown was responsible for working closely with the head coach on all aspects of game analysis, including direct oversight of the game-planning for offense. From 2015-18, Brown held multiple roles for the New York Jets. He spent two seasons (2015-16) as an offensive quality control coach, where he primarily assisted the wide receivers, and two years (2017-18) as a defensive assistant, where he primarily worked with the outside linebackers. Brown also assisted the head coach with game management responsibilities. In Brown’s first season with the Jets in 2015, the Jets finished 10-6 and had one of the top passing offenses in the NFL. He assisted wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey as the Jets set franchise records for total offense (5,925), passing offense (4,057) and completions (362). Wide receiver Brandon Marshall set the team’s all-time receiving record with 1,502 yards while quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick broke the team record for touchdown passes (31) in a single season. Fitzpatrick’s 3,905 passing yards were second-most in Jets history. Prior to the Jets, Brown spent 10 seasons coaching offense at the collegiate level. In 2014, Brown served as running backs coach for South Alabama, where he helped the Jaguars reach the Camellia Bowl, the program’s first ever bowl game. Brown served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Northwestern State in 2013. From 2009-12, Brown was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Valdosta State, where he helped the team capture the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championship. His offense led the Gulf South Conference in every major offensive category in 2012, averaging more than 40 points and 460 yards per game. Seven of his players became All-Americans during his time at Valdosta State and he also helped the team win the Gulf South Conference in 2010. In 2008, Brown was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Henderson State, where his unit set 12 school records and ranked third nationally in passing and 18th nationally in total offense. At Southwest Baptist in 2007, Brown oversaw an offense that broke 29 school records, six conference records and two national records. Brown began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Troy from 2005-06. Brown played his junior and senior seasons at Georgia Tech, where he was a quarterback from 2003-04. He played in Georgia Tech’s wins in the 2003 Humanitarian Bowl and 2004 Champs Sports Bowl. Brown began his collegiate career at Georgia Military College in 2002. Brown earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech in history, technology and society. He also holds a master’s degree in sports and fitness management from Troy. He and his wife, Rachel, have two children.
