Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club S Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club S CLANNS UPDATE Proud sponsors of Clanna Gael Fontenoy Ladies lift the Cup Congratulations to our adult ladies footballers who won the Cup by Club News beating St Maurs in a pulsating final played in Sean Moore Park last Thursday night. This was a great all-round performance by the Clanns ladies in a game that was nip and tuck all the way through, was played in an excellent spirit and was a demonstration of ladies football at its best. Christmas party tickets If you have not been able to collect and pay for your tickets for the nd Christmas party (2 December) at the club on Tuesday or Thursday evening this week, you can make other arrangements by texting Christina Devey on 0879603899. Ladies squad: Serena Hannon, Ever Kelly, Lisa Brick, Jenny Mannion, Marie Twomey, Rachel Byrne, Julianne Twomey, Kate McKenna, Ella Thirroueiz, Maria O’Dea, Rebecca McDonald, Lisa Curtin, Anne O’Donovan, Niamh Flood, Orla Flannagan, Shannon Fullam, Kate Benson and Claire Ryan. Clanns were more clinical in taking their scoring chances and that’s what proved to be the vital difference in the end with a winning score line of 3- 7 to 0-13. As the saying goes, it’s goals that win games! The team’s abilty to score goals had already been well and truly reflected in the victory they recorded against Clann Mhuire in a replay of their semi final, where the final winning score line was 6-12 to 4-12. Great credit is due to the team mentors and managers, including Pat Kane, Clare O’Dea and Martin McDonald, as well as the players themselves. Chairman’s report In his Chairman’s report Bernard Barron focused on the challenges posed by Covid-19 restrictions and how well the club has been dealing with these. Match activity in the earlier part of the year brought considerable joy to many and no small amount of success for many of our teams, he noted. When restrictions needed to be applied, the club did so fully and effectively and, thankfully, no cases of Covid have come to the club’s attention.     Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club S CLANNS UPDATE Proud sponsors of Clanna Gael Fontenoy U10 hurlers fare well Our U10 hurlers made the short trip to Donnybrook to play our neighbours, Club News Ranelagh Gaels, in a series of friendlies. The team managed by Ronan and Cathal took a while to get into the game Stop Press….Stop Press……. but benefitted from a half-time team talk to change things around in the Evening Herald on Clanns second half. Strong performances were delivered by Ciaran Hegarty and proud history Anthony Hyland in defence, while up front the scores came from Arthur Collins, Donal Clarke and Ryan Byrne, who scored with the last puck of the A report in the Evening Herald this game. Special mention must also go to Ronan O’Connor in goal - both for week (Tuesday) illustrated a part of his numerous saves and tremendous puck outs. this club’s proud history and is worth reproducing in full here. In the other games there were great efforts put in by Conor Crowley, with one particularly fine score, as well as by Sebastian McKenna Cooper and “Mickey Whelan is Dublin gold. They Morgan Groves.     Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club S CLANNS UPDATE Impressive championship win for U16s Proud sponsors of Clanna Gael Fontenoy A beautiful sunny afternoon in Ringsend Park proved the perfect setting for an impressive performance by our U16s to overcome Naomh Olafs in Club News the first round of the football championship. The first half was keenly contested with both sides seeking to move the ball quickly into the forward lines to record scores. It was one such move that led to the Family Fun Day game’s first goal, well despatched by Theo Scolard. This gave Clanns the Be sure to get down to the Club this slenderest of half-time leads of 1-4 to 0-6. A quickly-taken free found on the restart Conor Hennessy in space on the half-forward line where he brilliantly turned on his marker, charged goalwards to blast a rocket to the roof of the net. From here on Clanns took greater control of the game, especially around the middle third where the diamond of Alex Soroka, Rory Tobin, Karl Morgan and Conor Hennessy – who added some fine points to his goal - were very solid in their play.
