REAL NEW ZEALAND FESTIVAL EVENTS HIGHLIGHTS May 2011 Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) is a chance to see some magnificent Rugby. We want visitors to enjoy this country and see us as we are, the things that make us and the things that we’re proud of. So for the six weeks of Rugby World Cup 2011, from 9 September to 24 October, we’re holding the REAL New Zealand Festival. Throughout the country, wherever you go, there are going to be hundreds of events and experiences – things that are quintessentially New Zealand – to see and do. The REAL New Zealand Festival is a chance to see and experience the country. So, go on, take the long way round. Because you really shouldn’t miss it. Held weekly, in cities and towns, they are the places to meet the growers and the locals, and to taste, experience and buy the very best of New Zealand food. Nationwide National 01/03/2011 23/10/2011 The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the New Anthem Zealand Choral Federation are recording the national Recordings anthems for each nation participating in Rugby World Project Cup 2011. These recordings will be made available to the public to learn the anthems prior to the matches. The project also includes choral workshops throughout the country. Nationwide 2011 Heartland 06/08/2011 08/10/2011 The Heartland Championship is a grassroots provincial Championship Rugby tournament featuring 12 teams from throughout New Zealand. Whāngārei The Great Living 03/09/2011 02/10/2011 The Great Living Legends Muck-In is 17 native tree- Auckland Legends Muck- planting projects around New Zealand during Rugby Hamilton In World Cup 2011. Whether you’re a tree lover or rugby Tauranga enthusiast, overseas visitors and locals can join in the Rotorua plantings to support and enjoy New Zealand’s natural Taupō heritage. Each planting site is dedicated to a New Napier Zealand rugby icon or Living Legend from that region New Plymouth who will be on-hand to “muck in” and make the Palmerston North experience even more special. Nationwide REAL New 09/09/2011 23/10/2011 A one-off application for Smart Phones and iPods that Zealand Music uses GPS technology to locate which region of New iPhone/iPod Zealand you are in and offers information about the App artists and music from that area. Nationwide REAL New 09/09/2011 23/10/2011 A REAL New Zealand Music CD will be curated by a New Zealand Music Zealand music legend. The CD will showcase an artist of the Host from each of the original 12 Rugby World Cup 2011 Centres match centres (including Christchurch).
