Our pre-construction planning teams swing into action quickly, meaning that we’re pro-active in streamlining our planned activities, reducing both timescales and costs. Our Managing Estimator takes each job from initial enquiry to tender submission – and handover stage if successful – with a team of six estimators across our construction, mechanical, and electrical departments. Our Bid Writer and Planner also sit as part of the Estimating Team and provide support for all pre- construction activities. The support of this team continues throughout each stage of the project through to completion. McGill has partnered with Govanhill HA for several years, and is an integral part of the regeneration of this important and historic area of Glasgow. Over the last few years McGill has been awarded a number of contracts and having been appointed to a four-year framework by GHA in 2020, is very committed to the regeneration project, and to the Govanhill community itself. McGill has delivered a wide range of services including major repairs and refurbishment to windows, kitchens and bathrooms, plumbing, electrics, and external walls and roofs. With their all-trades approach they have also variously delivered slating and tiling, fire and security, landscaping, TV installation, and lead and stonework services.

McGill completed high-quality work for this prestigious new build in Dundee’s Technology Park. With our extensive experience, we were able to contribute to the design process, offering alternative installation methods and systems, ultimately delivering a quality end product at a reduced cost. This building, with its BREEAM excellent rating, incorporates sustainable design, including use of natural ventilation, solar heating, a biomass boiler, and low energy lighting. McGill’s on-site project manager was integral to the successful delivery of this project.

McGill was appointed to refit the prestigious and ambitious Quartermile regeneration project, which now stands on the site of the old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. McGill were responsible for the entire electrical installation, joinery and builder work for more than 50 luxury apartments, including CCTV, door access, security systems, and site-wide fire alarm systems. Secured through a competitive tendering process, McGill delivered exceptional workmanship from start to finish.

McGill has completely refurbished Dundee’s Affinity Business Centre, in order to bring it up to modern workplace standards. As main contractor McGill has refitted this large building comprised of more than 40 offices and four large warehouse/store areas. McGill installed new ceilings, floor coverings, toilets,and kitchens, and decorated the entire building. A new heating system was installed, as was a large canteen area. Externally,the car park was resurfaced and electric vehicle charging points were installed. This refit has been so successful that the building has quickly been leased out to many local companies and is now at capacity.

McGill carried out the M&E Building Services works for the new build library exten- sion on the University of Dundee campus. Our on-site project manager worked as part of the wider project team, overseeing the installation of a new main switchboard providing power to the extension. We installed AHUs and a Chiller Plant on the roof, trench heating, and extensive cat 6e structured cabling system installed under raised access floors to provide power to floor boxes, as well as internal lighting consisting of suspended low energy fluorescent luminaries.

McGill was main contractor for the lighting upgrade to the Scott Monument in Edinburgh’s Princes Street. The monument was completed in 1844 and is a listed building standing 200 feet high. Only a few lights still functioned, so we replaced the existing cabling and lighting in line with the council’s sustainable lighting strategy. More than 50 LED luminaires were installed, and were switched on, on the anniversary of Walter Scott’s death. The lighting has greatly enhanced the look of the monument.

McGill was proud to be part of this important local project to redevelop the East Marketgait Development site in Dundee. The high-quality work was delivered by a mix of McGill’s own skilled tradespeople and a number of specialist contractors. As coordinators of these work packages we prepared drawings using REVIT MEP software, which improved productivity throughout. Major works packages included the Pool Hall Ventilation Package, installation of the Solar Heating System, and integration of the security systems by McGill Fire and Security.

McGill was appointed to refurbish the three gift shops in this special and historic listed building in the nation’s capital. This prestigious refurbishment project, which was carried out and completed in 2018, was extensive, and included upgrades to power, lighting, ventilation, heating, and fire and security. McGill’s experienced and qualified teams completed this work to an exceptionally high standard, handling this historic listed building with the care and attention it deserves.

With extensive experience in new-build and refitting student accommodation, McGill installed the M&E Services to the new-build student accommodation blocks at Murano Place, consisting of 278 bedrooms, common rooms, and a management suite. Our in-house team produced the drawings, allowing us to fully coordinate the services and develop 3D modelling for the Plant Room. McGill Fire and Security designed, supplied and installed fire and security systems throughout. The project was completed in just 36 weeks, with more than 40 electricians, plumbers, and heating engineers on site.

Dundee Science Centre is committed to operating in a sustainable way, so McGill‘s Eco Division was the obvious partner of choice to complete a 40 kilowatt (kWh) solar panel installation on the south-facing roof, as part of the on-going capital investment and refurbishment project. The new solar panels generate enough renewable energy to power the entire centre, reducing its environmental impact and rendering it carbon neutral. In addition to the solar panel installation McGill also completed electrical works to install new display lighting as part of the centre’s £2million Connect Project.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary McGill invested £100,000 in upgrading Dundee- based Junior Football team Lochee United’s home ground, Thomson Park. McGill donated materials, time, and resources to the football team who start the new season with completely refurbished facilities, in addition to significant groundworks which were undertaken in advance of fans coming back to the ground. The improvements funded by McGill’s generous investment are essential in allowing the club to obtain an SFA licence and move into the Highland League.

McGill has many long-standing and successful relationships with clients in the education sector. As main contractor – and go-to partner for many education clients – we have completed dozens of large-scale refurbishment projects on time and on budget, and always to the highest standards. Among many other projects, McGill has delivered the full M&E package for a 200-room student accommodation building, installed plant rooms and heating systems, and installed fire and security systems across campuses including school buildings, offices and classrooms, and student accommodation blocks.
