Prayer Journal March 2019
Prayer Journal March 2019 March 2019 Dear Southside Family, Welcome to Practicing God’s Presence in Prayer! This Journal has been prayerfully prepared to assist you and your family on the journey. There are 5 daily lessons for each of the three weeks (I think that still equals 15!). You can do them individually, with your spouse or as a family. You’ll need your Bible, a pen (or favorite electronic device) and a heart to find out more about prayer. If these truths are discovered, understood and applied, our prayer lives can be transformed, our spiritual growth can be accelerated and our lives and relationships changed! God is speaking. He desires to be more than a part of our life – He is life itself. May we learn how we can regularly, intentionally remain in His presence throughout the day through an attitude of prayer. Each day, read the suggested Bible passages and answer the questions. Use the KidConnect Corner with your kids or grandkids. Space has been given for you to record your thoughts and impressions from the Lord each day. Customize the content and make this fit for you and your family. Each day’s lesson will take about 20 minutes. Our goal is to become stronger in our walk with God by developing healthy spiritual habits. Don’t be overwhelmed. Take the Practicing God’s Presence in Prayer experience one day at a time! If you miss a day or two, don’t panic! Make them up when you have the opportunity. It’s my hope and intent that our whole Southside family (children, youth and adults) will be discussing the topics in KidConnect, Home Groups, the Sunday morning messages and in our homes. -

What Motivated Terry Ratzmann's Shooting Spree in the Living
What Motivated Terry Ratzmann’s Shooting Spree in the Living Church of God? Peter Ditzel On March 12, 2005, 44-year-old Terry Ratzmann walked into the services of the Living Church of God. They were being held in the Sheraton Hotel near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ratzmann stood near the back of the room where he was spotted by 12-year-old Robert Geiger. The boy later described Ratzmann, whom he had known most of his life, as looking enraged, and "his eyes were real dark." Robert also saw Ratzmann’s gun. Ratzmann opened fire with a 9mm handgun. He fired 22 shots, immediately killing four people. One bullet was intended for Robert, but the bullet whizzed past his face. Ratzmann ended the shooting spree by killing himself. Three more people died in hospital. Police have still not figured out Ratzmann’s motive. At first, they focused on the possibility that Ratzmann was about to lose his job. This now turns out not to be the case. He was near the end of a temporary assignment through an employment firm, and would likely have received a new assignment. Police and media at first assumed the Living Church of God to be an evangelical church. But both have now finally realized that the Living Church of God is no ordinary church. They now believe that Ratzmann’s motives were directly connected with the church. The Living Church of God is one of the most extreme of the many offshoots of the Worldwide Church of God, a church founded in the 1930s by the late Herbert W. -

These emanations from God produce new sounds that invariably when captured by true worshippers become the songs we arrange to communicate the heart of our heavenly Father. In this respect we sing a new song unto the Lord. Eternal Sound is a vehicle that God has created in our day to communicate the sounds of the season. They are true worshippers who do not just simply sing the song of the Lord but who have become the song that they sing. -

Assemblies of God Mission in Igboland, 1970-2016: a Thematic X-Ray
Preorcjah Vol. 2(1), 2017 www.ezenwaohaetorc.org Assemblies of God Mission in Igboland, 1970-2016: A thematic x-ray Patrick Enoch Nmah Abstract Assembles of God church provides a particularly intriguing context for a study of the church in Igboland. The purpose of the study is to find out why the Assemblies of God Mission (AGM) is no longer waxing strong vis-à-vis during its emergence. Findings showed that there are a lot of bickering and bigotries among the pastors and the lay. The crave for materialism is seriously affecting the spiritual life of the church. Methods of approach are historical and descriptive coupled with primary and secondary sources. Keywords: Mission, evangelism, charity, Igboland, and development and expansion Introduction The missionaries of the Europeans had settled down for the task of “civilizing” the indigenes, a process of westernization usually mistaken for Christianity, abandoning the pneumatic values of the Kerygma. It was this negligence that agitated the minds of Harris, Braide and American Evangelicals to launch aggressive evangelism in the early twentieth century. The legend Augustus Ehurien Nwogu of Old Umuahia in Abia State was a product of this early 20th century church development. The crisis thus generated in him led to his reconversion from Niger Delta Pastorate (NDP) to the faith Tabernacle Congregation (FTC). He Nmah Preorcjah Vol. 2(1), 2017 later separated from the FTC to form the church of Jesus Christ (CJC), which shortly became Assemblies of God Mission in Igboland (Ndubuisi, 1997). The main objectives of this study is to discuss the effects of bickery, materialism, lukewarm attitude towards mission and evangelism, and how they have created unnecessary rivalry, hatred, envy, spiritual barrenness and administrative bankruptcy. -

LU Newsletter for Students, Alumni and Friends of Living University
LU Newsletter For Students, Alumni and Friends of Living University June 15, 2017 From the President’s Desk Greetings again dear friends. This is our final newsletter for this academic year. On May 15, we honored our class of 2017 at our ninth commencement graduating 20 students. I would like to share with you my opening ceremony remarks. My intent was to remind everyone of our important educational mission, even though LU is a very small facet of God’s Great Work, by reviewing some of the basic principles on which Dr. Roderick C. Meredith and his fellow leaders founded the University. As we did at Commencement, let us reflect on them for a few moments. First, “The Word of God is the Foundation of Knowledge.” Seventy years ago Herbert and Loma Armstrong were busy preparing to open Ambassador College in Pasadena, California with the hallmark motto of “Recapture the true values.” Classes began in October of 1947 after great struggle. Ambassador College was our antecedent. Ambassador set the norm and established our overall approach to God-centered education for Christian life and service. Second, very importantly, Living University is God’s university, as Ambassador College was God’s college. Neither was a work of men. The Lord has built the house–our effort as weary laborers has not been in vain. The fruit of our labors includes touching the lives of over 1,000 students, and certainly our fine graduates, since our founding. Living, as known in higher education educational circles, is God’s very own university. Third, our charge is to “Recapture True Values” in all we do by internalizing and demonstrating our core values of Leadership, Service, Commitment, Integrity, Excellence, Culture, and Creativity. -
