Emergency Communications Bulletin 2015-2016 Emergency situations occasionally arise, which may require school schedule delays, closure , or changes in transportation. Therefore, we encourage you to: Have a family plan covering actions to take in emergency situations. When setting up your plan, please refer to the district’s EMERGENCY STUDENT-RELEASE PROCEDURE and TALKING ABOUT FAMILY EMERGENCY PLANS: QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER. Information may be distributed at the first of the school year and is available at http://www.bisd303.org/Page/92. Your plan should include: what to do if a bus does not arrive; who to call or contact with concerns; where to go for help; and other details pertinent to your situation. Radio stations include: Media: For schedule changes, announcements start at approximately AM KCIS 630 5:30 AM (or as soon as notice can be given after an emergency). KISS 106 For inclement weather, goal is to notify stations by 5:15 AM. KITZ 1400 Radio/TV stations will announce or list districts by name and KIXI 880 district numbers—Bainbridge Island School District #303. KOMO 1000 If there is no report, BISD schools are on normal schedules. Media announcements are made using the following FM KBKS 106.1 standard phrases: KCMS 105.3 Schools closed—All BISD public schools will be closed KGRG 89.9 for the day. All activities are cancelled. Please be aware of extreme road conditions in your specific area and be prepared with alternate plans for transportation. The Emergency/Snow Bus Routes are posted at http://www.bisd303.org/Page/2564. Notice of the availability of Limited Bus Service will be sent via Listserv and/or on broadcast media stations. Note: Buses will not stop in the middle of hills when traveling during snow or ice, and this also may apply during other inclement weather. If you have questions about the limited bus service, please call your school office or Transportation (206-842-4641). Road restrictions—Some roads may be closed by the City due to snow, thawing, landslide, or other conditions. In this case, announcements will be made after we receive notification from city officials. Again, no announcement on the radio or television means schools are operating on normal schedules. .
