Food Paradise Penang’s Official Food & Hotel Show FOOD & HOTEL PENANG 2016 The 2nd International Exhibition of Food, Drinks, Hotel, Restaurant & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies, Services & Related Technology 15 - 17 November 2016 Straits Quay Convention Centre Penang, Malaysia Food Paradise Supported By : Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang State Government Organised By : www.foodandhotelpenang.com Asia’s Malaysia’s tourist paradise, the beautiful island of Penang will once again play host to the much anticipated second edition of Food and Hotel Penang (FHP 2016). Set to take place from 15 to 17 Nov 2016, FHP promises to cement its position as the definitive trade only platform for the Northern region of Malaysia. FHP which enjoys the full support of the Penang State Government and the Malaysian Association of Hotels aims to build on the impressive 240 participating companies from 30 countries that exhibited at the inaugural exhibition in 2014. Featuring an international mix of exhibitors including exciting features such as a dedicated wine village, hosted buyer programme and the now popular General Managers Cocktail, FHP will give you an unrivalled access point to key decision makers in the food and hospitality industries both in Penang and also the neighbouring states of the north. Food and Hotel Penang returns in style Chief Minister visiting FHP 2014 Message by Chief Minister of Penang On behalf of the Penang State Government, welcome back for another successful instalment of Food & Hotel Penang (FHP), which made its debut in 2014. Having played host to more than 2,000 trade visitors from 17 countries, in addition to 240 participating companies from 30 countries and two International Group Pavilions, this event is the only F&B related trade show in Malaysia’s Northern region. It has also certainly established itself in Penang and for the hospitality industry as a whole. Given the success of that inaugural event, I am confident that FHP 2016 will be even bigger and better, surpassing the success of its forerunner, with so much more to offer. There is no denying that when it comes to the hospitality and F&B industries, no other state in Malaysia can boast so much expertise and diversity. This glorious state known as the “Pearl of the Orient” is renowned internationally as a food and gourmet paradise. Moreover, according to the figure by Tourism Malaysia, Penang also houses 206 hotels, offering more than 18,000 rooms as at 2014. These facts and figures by themselves bear testament that the multi-billion ringgit hospitality and F&B industries are fundamental pillars of current and future socio-economic progress of Penang. They have spurred jobs and business opportunities. They have championed the promotion of Penang’s rich and diverse heritage the world over. Events such as Food & Hotel Penang, therefore, play a vital role, not only as a core fundamental to these industries, but also as a catalyst towards their growth. We witnessed the convergence and participation of key industry players from all over the world and once again, we are proud to host Food & Hotel Penang 2016. My heartiest congratulations go out to the Organisers for heeding our call to make this event a regular affair, which I am confident, will fulfill our aspirations of transforming Penang into an international and intelligent city. I wish FHP 2016 every success and pledge the fullest support and cooperation of the Penang State Government in this regard. Welcome back to Penang FHP! Olga Kuzmicheva Asia Region Director, Wilmax England Penang A Hot Spot for Tourism Growth Statistics show that Penang’s tourism industry is heating up fast whereby arrivals at the beginning of 2014 were already up by 33.4% (domestic) and 8.23% (international) with more and more flights being introduced into the newly revamped airport. The future looks bright indeed for this world heritage site. Increased tourism needs more hotel rooms and certainly Penang has not been idle on that front. Already in the pipeline are projects worth over 693 million Malaysian Ringgit in the next 2 years which will give rise to an extra 1,157 hotel rooms on the island. Another major boost on the business tourism front is the construction of the SPICE and PWCC convention centres which are expected to spearhead Penang’s thrust to be a major MICE destination by the end of the decade. • International Association of Culinary Professionals 26Th Annual Conference April 21-24, 2004 Baltimore, Maryland
International Association of Culinary Professionals 26th Annual Conference April 21-24, 2004 Baltimore, Maryland General Session “Is Globalization Changing The Way The World Eats?” Speaker: Dr. Tyler Cowen Thank you all, and good morning. Let’s start with slide one. That’s me, the obsessive, and obsessive is the key word here. I’m food obsessive. I have several obsessions actually, but today we talk about food. When I get home, my wife will ask me, “how did it go?”, and my answer will be, “the breakfast was excellent!” So I travel a great deal, I cook a great deal, and I write an on-line dining guide. I’m one of those people who lives to eat. For a long time now, I have been writing about culture, and creativity, and diversity, and now I am writing about food. And my interest in food really stems from my life, and that is from my obsessive nature. I wanted to be going out there, eating in the best places possible. With this attitude every meal counts. But if every meal is going to count, you have to know how to eat. So let’s go to the next slide. I have a theory of food. It’s a fairly simple theory, it’s not perfect, and there are some exceptions. But what makes for great food? Three items: You need competition, experimentation, and pride. Competition – if you are in a strange city, or strange country, and you want to know where to eat, go to the cuisine that is represented by the greatest number of restaurants.

Yes, our audience is very gray and, I think, that is not just because these concerts are free to seniors but because our audience mostly learns about the concerts from the pages of WestView. • Good City Brewing Commits to Century City Business Park
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Good City Brewing Commits to Century City Business Park MILWAUKEE (July 25, 2018) – Good City Brewing announced it is moving its corporate offices and warehouse operations to the Century City Business Park located on Milwaukee’s northwest side. Good City is the first business to commit to the high profile city-led redevelopment project. Located near W. Capitol Drive and N. 31st on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side, Century City 1 is a 53,160 sf flex industrial building that was co-developed by General Capital Group and the City of Milwaukee. The facility represents the first phase of a planned business park initiated by the City of Milwaukee to spur economic development in the central city. The state of the art facility has not had a permanent occupant since its completion in 2016. Good City Co-Founder Dan Katt notes that breweries are often the first movers in spurring economic development. “From our Farwell location that had sat vacant for 5 years to our future downtown location that is literally being built from the ground up, we have been about breathing life into underutilized spaces. Our conviction is that the current downtown renaissance should create ripple effects benefitting the entire city. “ According to Katt, Century City provides an immediate business solution. “We’ve expanded our brewery 4 times in the 2 years since we opened our doors, and we are simply out of space on the east side. The demand for our beer, especially our flagship Motto Mosaic Pale Ale, and the growth that comes with it, is very exciting.” Pending approval from City leaders, Good City will purchase the building through an affiliate entity and begin to move operations into the building immediately.
