But it’s one thing copying your favourite celebs’ outfits and quite another matching your daughter’s. ‘My 19-year-old daughter, Lois, is very experimental with her style,’ says Sarah Buttfield, 42. ‘She loves following the latest trends but I’m not sure I could pull them off. For me, it’s about comfort.’ But as summer approaches – and with it a new set of looks – we’ll all be heading to the shops for a wardrobe overhaul. And while some styles will be best suited for a noisy nightclub, others are accessorised with the confidence that comes with age. ‘My style hasn’t changed much in the past few years,’ says Sarah. ‘I like to look smart, but with a quirky twist – maybe a statement necklace or a bold pair of shoes. I’d like to switch it up a bit – but I’m not sure if I’d suit the latest trends like Lois.’ So here, we put Sarah and Lois to the test and ask, ‘Who LOIS wore it best?’ WINS! I’ve got quite narrow hips, but I felt the jumpsuit gave me some curves, and I thought the culottes style was very trendy. I think it would be really versatile – I could wear it with flats in the day and with statement jewellery and heels for the evening. I thought it suited Lois too, but she’s maybe a bit young for it. Lois says: I really like jumpsuits, but I think all the SARAH frills and flares were a bit too WINS! mature. I’d usually go for something more fitted. I wasn’t too keen on the shoes either – for me, the higher the heel, the better! I knew Mum would love it though – navy is one of her favourite colours, and it suited her formal style. I hope it encourages her to wear more jumpsuits – it would make a nice change from her jeans or black trousers.

The following morning, rather than cooing I’ve always known what I wanted out of life over Lily and changing her clothes, I asked – a good job, a happy relationship, and children Eddie to. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Only, of my own. So, by 36, working as a copywriter, as I lay in bed, tears welling in my eyes once and married to my husband, Eddie, I was more, something inside snapped. ‘What on thrilled to discover I was pregnant. earth are you doing?’ I thought. realised Down’s syndrome didn’t define her – it was her love of the outdoors, listening to the Stereophonics, and her obsession with crisps that made her who she was. And it was during this time that the local support group we attended sent out an email, saying that a modelling agency was looking for kids with Down’s syndrome to feature in a campaign. By then Lily had become rather fond of the camera – she’d even worked out how to take selfies on my phone! I loved the idea that they wanted to represent children with disabilities, so I sent a few snaps to them. Huge achievement I didn’t think much more of it – that is until November 2016, when we received a call saying that Lily had been chosen – the retailer was Matalan, which has over 200 stores in the UK! At the shoot, she looked like butter wouldn’t melt – a far cry from my cheeky toddler. A few months later, nothing could have prepared me for the moment when, in March 2017, Eddie and I walked into the store to see Lily’s face on a huge billboard! ‘That’s you!’ I said to Lily, as she posed for a photo by her advert. As shop assistants came up, keen to meet the face of the new campaign, I felt so proud – yet again, Lily was defying expectations. Of course, now almost three, Lily doesn’t quite realise what she has achieved. And I doubt she’ll be keen to pursue modelling – for now, she’s more interested in playing on her trampoline and watching cartoons. It’s true, Lily certainly isn’t the little girl I thought I’d have – Down’s syndrome brings a set of unique challenges. But, I also thought I’d have a daughter obsessed with all things pink and girly – when in reality she’s happiest covered in mud! But every day, Lily continues to amaze me. I wouldn’t change a thing

Unable to cope with fame, Paul Nicholls turned to drink and drugs and quit the soap after two years. Now clean, he’s gone on to forge a successful career in TV and film. Paul, 38, currently has a leading role as teacher Steve Bell in Channel 4’s new drama Ackley Bridge, opposite Jo Joyner.

I’ve never earned as much as I did when I was 16. I went from working on the roof with my dad and earning £30 a week to living in London and earning a lot of money and always getting recognised. It was bizarre. I feel like I’ve had about four lives. Life before children’s TV, then life before EastEnders, life after EastEnders, and now the life of a person in recovery. I’ve just lived, I suppose. I’m very lucky.

I’m happy being single. I don’t really want to be ecstatically happy, because there is always the opposite to that. I’d just like more peace in my life.

Danny Dyer is really underrated. We’re not close any more but at one point he was a really good friend of mine and I love watching him. He’s a wonderful actor and he makes me laugh a lot. What people don’t know is that before Harold Pinter died, he directed Danny in two of WOMA his plays. That’s how good Danny is! Reptiles are my passion-Ilovethem! I had EXCLUSIVE! a grass snake as a kid and I’ve adored Paul them ever since. Having an addictive personality, at one point I was addicted to taking in rescue reptiles that idiots had smuggled into the country. I had boas, horn snakes – at one point, I had 12 and my partner at the time was like, NICHOLLS ‘What is wrong with you?’ But I’m fascinated by them.
