  • White Sox Headlines of October 18, 2017
WHITE SOX HEADLINES OF OCTOBER 18, 2017 “Adolfo 'grew up,' hit his stride in 2017” … Scott Merkin, MLB.com “White Sox manager Rick Renteria named one of most influential Hispanics in sports” … Chris Kuc, Chicago Tribune Adolfo 'grew up,' hit his stride in 2017 By Scott Merkin / MLB.com | Oct. 17, 2017 GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Standing in the hallway of the White Sox complex at Camelback Ranch and talking with a few reporters and a team media relations representative, Micker Adolfo points to one of the bold, almost majestic pictures hanging on the wall. It's a moment captured during one of the two games played at U.S. Cellular Field from the 2005 World Series, won by the White Sox over the Astros in a four-game sweep. "That's where I want to be," said Adolfo with a smile. The No. 14-ranked White Sox prospect per MLBPipeline.com didn't specify whether he was referring to playing at Guaranteed Rate Field or taking part in a World Series. Adolfo very well might have meant both. Steps were taken toward that goal during the 2017 season by the 21-year-old outfielder. Adolfo hit .264 with 16 homers, 28 doubles and 64 RBIs for Class A Kannapolis, marking career highs in all four categories, as well as the 112 games played and 424 at-bats. His season came to an end on Aug. 22, upon suffering a fracture in the knuckle of his left pinky from what he described as a freak accident after bumping his hand. The cast has come off the injured area, and while he worked primarily on range- of-motion activities during instructional league action in Arizona, Adolfo should be hitting in two weeks.

  • White Sox President
May 19, 2021 Mr. Kenny Williams President of Baseball Operations Chicago White Sox 333 W 35th St Chicago, IL 60616 Dear Mr. Williams: Upon news that the Chicago White Sox will be requiring vaccination credentials to attend certain fan sections of ballgames at Guaranteed Rate Field, we ask for your thoughtful reconsideration of proposals which could stigmatize unvaccinated Illinoisans. We strongly feel that COVID vaccines are a personal medical choice and those that do not receive it should not be excluded or stigmatized. If you agree, we ask for your intercession with this policy at Guaranteed Rate Field. Vaccine passports or solicitation of proof of vaccination should not be a requirement for Illinoisans to enjoy America’s pastime. Segregation of patrons unwilling or unable to show proof of vaccination would not only be an infringement on the liberties and freedom of Illinoisans, but also a violation of individual medical privacy. Operation Warp Speed, under President Donald J. Trump, allowed the development of COVID vaccines at a rate we have never seen in world history. These remarkable medical breakthroughs are helping allow Americans to get back to work and are protecting those who are medically able and willing to receive the vaccine. What we cannot permit, though, is disparate treatment of our constituents based on medical treatments. We are deeply troubled by potential stigmatizing of Illinoisans based on medical status. The CDC has not yet advised that all age groups and medical conditions are eligible for COVID vaccination, and as such, many Illinoisans are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine.

  • Podsednik Shakes Off Shyness to Analyze Sox with Garfein, Melton on CSN Chicago
Podsednik shakes off shyness to analyze Sox with Garfein, Melton on CSN Chicago By George Castle, CBM Historian Posted Thursday, May 18, 2017 Scott Podsednik was a natural at the skills needed for his previous job: base-stealing leadoff man of the 2005 world champion White Sox and other teams before and after. Also a natural as pre- and post-game Sox analyst for 25 games on CSN Chicago? Not so much. “I didn’t think about TV at all until the op- portunity came up for me,” said the person- able Texan. “I was a very shy, very intro- verted guy growing up. I remained pretty in- troverted and to myself (going into his ca- reer). For me to even think about pursuing a career in TV or in media didn’t seem right, didn’t seem natural. “It was something that my agent had thrown Scott Podsednik brings some World Series past me and had mentioned to me. I would glamour to 25 Sox pre- and post-game shows think a little bit about it. But I never thought on CSN Chicago.
