H. J. Heinz Company Foundation Grant Application Guidelines

The H. J. Heinz Company Foundation was established in 1951 to make contributions to further the public welfare. Funded each year by the H. J. Heinz Company, the H. J. Heinz Company Foundation is committed to promoting the health and nutritional needs of children and families, with priority given to programs in communities where Heinz operates. The Foundation proactively donates funds to develop and strengthen organizations that are dedicated to nutrition and alleviating malnutrition, diversity, and fostering healthy communities. The Foundation supports socially responsible endeavors and encourages Heinz employees to participate in voluntary activities in support of charitable organizations.

The Foundation gives priority to applications falling into its major program areas , including:

Nutrition: Supporting improvements in and a better understanding of good nutrition and contribution to the health and well-being of people and communities. This includes our signature program - the Heinz Micronutrient Campaign, which is dedicated to alleviating malnutrition through products, services and programs.

' Diversit : Supporting the advancement of minorities focusing on two fronts - education and community opportunities.

' Fostering Healthy Communities: Supporting programs that enhance the quality of life in our communities, with a special emphasis on children and youth. Program areas are focused on arts & culture and community development.

Foundation Guidelines

1. Nature of Grants The Foundation considers requests from eligible organizations that fall within the described areas of interest. Organizations should indicate how their proposed project fits the areas of interest. Generally, the Foundation does not make loans and does not provide grants for individuals, equipment, conferences, travel,

STATEMENT 10 general scholarships, religious programs, political campaigns, and unsolicited research projects.

II. Geographic Consideration Grants are typically awarded in areas where the H. J. Heinz Company has significant operations.

Ill. Eligible Organizations Only organizations that have 501 (c)(3) tax status under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code are eligible for support domestically. International organizations are encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry prior to preparing a full proposal to determine eligibility. International organizations will need to provide a 501(c) (3) determination letter from the United States Internal Revenue Service or sufficient documentation to demonstrate that the non-U.S. grantee is the equivalent of a U.S. public charity. Documentation should be provided in English.

IV. Sustainability of Project The organization must be able to demonstrate plans to continue the project after the grant funds end.

V. Accountability The organization must provide financial and evaluative reports on the use of grant funds.

Issuance of a grant is a discrete event and does not reflect continuing support for the organization.

The Foundation will also accept proposals in the Common Grant Application Format. All proposals must be submitted in writing. Electronic submissions are not accepted at this time.
