BACKGROUND OF OUR INSTITUTION: In the year 1996, our Institution was established at Latur for upliftment of women & children in distress and cause to make them self supportive. Swayamsiddha Mahila Mandal Latur herein after referred in short as SMM for brevity was founded in 1996 in Latur & was registered under Societies Registration Act vide regn. no. Maha/6120/Latur dated 15.2.1996 & under public Trust Act vide regn. no. F 5749/Latur dated 2.7.1998. SMM was founded by Adv. Mrs. Smita Sharadchandra Parchure, who happens to be 1st lady advocate of Latur district and worked as advocate since year 1976 to 1982. Thereafter she was not practicing as advocate but dedicated herself for cause of poor women. After the disastrous earthquake of year 1993, Mrs. Parchure and her like minded friends solemnly commenced activity to help affected women and sensed to establish a trust to help needy women and their dependant children on permanent basis. P.T.O. Page 2 of 9 SMM was then formed with the aim to help women and children in distress and to generate awareness in the issues of women & children and to empower girls & women. The Backbone of SMM’s activities is based on doctrines like Self Confidence, Swadhar, Independence, equality & respect for girls, women & culture. The Focus is clearly on development of the downtrodden women, children, neediest section of poor people and rural/urban sector of communities helping them to help themselves. There are many institutions devoted for specific social cause and aspects like HIV affected, Trafficked persons, Dumb & blinds, Leprosy, unemployed etc. However to specify in short, SMM has concentrated on problems relating to (Domestic) women in distress & their dependant children or poor orphan girls & children under BPL(below poverty line). Now institution has entered 22nd year wef 15 th Feb. 2017 & is ready for larger noble work. SMM desires to provide ultramodern quality educational facility including skill development programmes for about 50 girls sheltered in Swadhar gruh & Gokul Balsadan to make them self supportive in due course. B. THE WORK SO FAR SUCCESSFULLY DONE BY OUR INSTITUTION 1. From the year 1996 till date, our Society has run activities mentioned in latest Annual report annexed hereto for ready reference please as [Annexure-1] To mention in short we run 2 Swadhar gruh, 1 Gokul Balsadan in P69 MIDC Latur and 3 Counselling centres 1 at Ausa, 2nd at Gandhi chauk police station and in 3rd at Panchayat samiti in Latur with 2 crèche viz. Nandanvan & Baljagat at Latur & such other works as inscribed in Annual reports C. PROPOSED WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN BY OUR INSTITUTION 2. The proposed work is described as under Proposal for educational facility & skill development programme for learning girls Note :- At present 50 girls from our shelter homes are taking education but are not fully supported by good facilities. Girls below 10th standard are taking education in Jijamata, Sane Guruji, Swami Vivekanad or Vidyavikas High schools and girls above 10th standard are learning in Dayanand or Jijamata commerce college, Keshavraj Science college or DMLT college etc. P.T.O. Page 3 of 9 The beneficiaries come from very poor family devoid of quality education since childhood. In case they are provided with special skill development & training educational support to regularly educate under Govt approved centres & up grade them in house, then there shall be tremendous transformation in them to enlighten their lives drastically. SKD-Skill development training programmes have become need of hour and are easily available near our shelter home. Details of such programme & list of candidates etc are furnished herein after at end of this project note. Skill development programme is going to help girls in making them confident or economically independent & will help them take challenges and face the world as each SKD centre is to furnish Central Government certificate to student & is going to place each student in respective work place or industry . We have opted SKD programmes taking in view their background, aptitude, capability, availability, suitability etc. Govt. does not provide grant-in-aid for captioned proposal. D. THE LEGAL STATUS OF OUR INSTITUTION i. The land at P69 MIDC Latur standing in the name of our institution, (and buildings raised there on under MPLADs from Hon.'ble Dr. Gopalrao Patil, Shivraj Patil Chakurkar & late Adv. Balasaheb Apte etc) The land at P/21 adjacent to P69 allotted to SMM for development of fruits and flowers etc plz refer to para 8 to 10 indicated in SMM Credentials [Annexure-2] ii. The Institution has been registered as Coop. society regn. no. Maha/6120/Latur dated 15.2.1996 [Annexure-3] iii. The Institution has been registered as Charitable Institution under the provisions of Bombay Public Trust Act, Certificate regn. no. F 5749 /Latur dated 27.7.1998 [Annexure-4]. iv. The Institution has having PAN copy attached [Annexure-5] v. SMM obtained Certificate u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act - plz refer to para 5 indicated in SMM Credentials [Annexure-2 as referred above]. vi. Audited Balance Sheet with Audit report, Bs, I/E & R/P statements for the F.Y. 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16. [Annexure-6 Colly] and Colour Photos of the existing activities run by the Institution /Trust, [Annexure-7] SMM-SBI cancelled cheque copy [Annexure-7-8] , SMM current status report [Annexure-9] , SMM informative leaflet front and back [Annexure-10, 11] , NCW certificate to SMM- [Annexure-12]. vii. List of candidates indicating their details, and particulars about skill development programmes are quoted at end of this proposal Page 4 of 9 viii. Other SKD training programmes like Child Caretaker, Diabetes Educator, Unarmed Security Guard, Lab Technician/ Assistant - Life Sciences, Pickle Making Technician may be opted in due course ix. Beneficiaries may also be changed as per circumstances and needs from time to time as may be guided by SMM Any other document/s may be supplemented as directed/needed by funding organization/donor institution E. APPEAL SMM has heard that your Institution is encouraging various other Charitable Institutions for the financial assistance of good activities.
