Dear Parents,

We are excited to launch “EMBRACE” Summer Learning for our SCCPSS students and families. After a challenging and unconventional school year we know that our students are now ready for some summer fun. Summer is a time for experiencing new and wonderful things. Our beautiful city holds wonder and exploration for all to enjoy.

This summer SCCPSS has created learning opportunities that focus on readiness, enrichment, acceleration, and credit acquisition for students in grades PreK-12. It is more important than ever before that our students become lifelong learners ready to seize the opportunities that our new world will offer. We will offer a variety of camps, explorations, social and emotional learning activities and engaging experiences to prepare our students for the coming school year and beyond.

It has been our mission to help all students succeed while supporting families in their important work to nurture the love for learning. We welcome the opportunity to continue to partner with you to create a unique summer learning experience that provides instruction and engagement for your student, our teachers, and families.

Research tells us that summer learning opportunities have the potential to help children improve their academic performance and other outcomes. Having access to a quality summer learning experience can reduce learning loss and accelerate readiness at high levels.

We invite you to experience a joyful, rich, and rewarding journey into EMBRACE Summer Learning and turn an ordinary summer into an extraordinary one.

Celebrating every student,

Mary Kaye Aikens, Interim Associate Superintendent Elementary/K8

Bernadette Ball-Oliver, Associate Superintendent Secondary Schools

Vallerie C. Cave, Ph.D., Associate Superintendent K-12 School Transformation
