Form guide • Steaua have lost only one of their five UEFA meetings with Dynamo, and remain unbeaten against their Group J rivals in Kyiv (W1 D1). Indeed, they have yet to lose in Ukraine (W2 D1). • In the sides' most notable previous meeting, Anghel Iordanescu's Steaua beat Valeriy Lobanovskiy's Dynamo 1-0 in the 1986 UEFA Super Cup in Monaco, Gheorghe Hagi scoring the only goal. • The teams for that game on 24 February 1987 were: Steaua: Stângaciu, Iovan, Bumbescu, Belodedici, Bărbulescu, Bălan, Lăcătuş, Bölöni, Hagi (Balint 84), Stoica (Majearu 89), Piţurcă. Dynamo: Chanov, Bal, Baltacha, Kuznetsov, Demianenko, Evtushenko, Yakovenko, Rats, Zavarov (Morozov 77), Belanov (Mykhailychenko 50), Blokhin. • When Steaua beat Dynamo 4-1 in Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League group stage on 13 September 2006, current Steaua assistant coach Nicolae Dică scored two of Steaua's goals, while current Dynamo coach Serhiy Rebrov was on target for Dynamo. Trivia and links • Steaua's 6-0 win against Aalborg BK on matchday one matched their best previous European result – a 6-0 defeat of BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup on 3 October 1979. • Claudiu Keșerü's 12-minute hat-trick in that game was the fastest in UEFA Europa League history (Liverpool FC's Steven Gerrard had held the record with a 13-minute treble against SSC Napoli in 2010/11). • It was also the first UEFA Europa League match (group stage to final) in which a team had managed to score six goals. • Dynamo's 3-0 win at Rio Ave FC on matchday one matched the margin of their biggest previous away wins in this competition (both 4-1 victories). • Dynamo are competing in this group stage for a fourth time, having only once – in 2011/12 – failed to make it through to the round of 32. The coaches • Dynamo coach Serhiy Rebrov formed a deadly attacking partnership with Andriy Shevchenko for the Bilo-Syni, though his goals dried up somewhat after moving abroad. Following retirement in 2009, Rebrov took a job with Dynamo's youth team, but became first team coach in May 2014 after a successful caretaker spell. • Steaua coach Constantin Gâlcă was capped 68 times as a midfielder and played in Spain with RCD Mallorca, RCD Espanyol and Villarreal CF among others after making his name at Steaua. He took charge of his old club in June 2014 following a spell working as Romania's Under-17 coach. 4 FC Dynamo Kyiv - FC Steaua Bucureşti Thursday 2 October 2014 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskyi, Kyiv Team facts FC Dynamo Kyiv Formed: 1927 Nickname: Bilo-Syni (White-Blues) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (2): 1975, 1986 • UEFA Super Cup (1): 1975, (1986) Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) National title: 26 (2009) National cup: 19 (2014) Ten-year European record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2013/14: round of 32 2012/13: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) 2011/12: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2010/11: quarter-finals (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2009/10: UEFA Champions League group stage 2008/09: semi-finals (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) 2007/08: UEFA Champions League group stage 2006/07: UEFA Champions League group stage 2005/06: UEFA Champions League second qualifying round 2004/05: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 8-0: Dynamo v Barry Town AFC 22/07/98, UEFA Champions League first qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-6: Coleraine FC v Dynamo 02/09/65, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup preliminary round first leg 0-5: Beşiktaş JK v Dynamo 14/03/87, European Champion Clubs' Cup quarter-final first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4 four times, most recently v AS Roma 27/11/07, UEFA Champions League group stage 0-3 on three occasions, most recently v Olympique Lyonnais 17/10/2006, UEFA Champions League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 5-0 twice, most recently v Juventus 24/09/02, UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 5-1: Dynamo v FC Aktobe 29/08/13, play-off second leg 4-0 twice, most recently v MTK Budapest 13/09/89, first round first leg • Biggest away win 1-4 twice, most recently v Beşiktaş JK 17/02/11, round of 32 first leg 0-3: Rio Ave FC v Dynamo 18/09/14, group stage • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Dynamo v RSC Anderlecht 04/11/92, second round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 5 FC Dynamo Kyiv - FC Steaua Bucureşti Thursday 2 October 2014 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskyi, Kyiv 3-0: VfB Stuttgart v Dynamo 12/12/73, third round second leg FC Steaua Bucureşti Formed: 1947 Nickname: Militarii (Army Men) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Champion Clubs' Cup (1): 1986, (1989) • UEFA Super Cup (1): 1986 Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 25 (2014) Romanian Cup: 21 (2011) Ten-year European record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2013/14: UEFA Champions League group stage 2012/13: round of 16 2011/12: round of 32 2010/11: group stage 2009/10: group stage 2008/09: UEFA Champions League group stage 2007/08: UEFA Champions League group stage 2006/07: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) 2005/06: semi-finals (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2004/05: round of 16 Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0: Steaua v Aalborg BK 18/09/14, UEFA Europa League group stage 6-0: Steaua v BSC Young Boys 03/10/79, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 1-5: AC Sparta Praha v Steaua 07/09/88, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: Steaua v VfB Stuttgart 22/11/12, UEFA Europa League group stage 0-4: Steaua v Chelsea FC 01/10/13, UEFA Champions League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 5-0 on three occasions, most recently v Maccabi Haifa FC 20/10/11, UEFA Europa League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 6-0: Steaua v Aalborg BK (see above) • Biggest away win 1-4: FC Levadia Maardu v Steaua 26/08/99, qualifying round second leg 0-3 on three occasions, most recently v FC Spartak Trnava 09/08/12, third qualifying round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: Steaua v VfB Stuttgart (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: Maccabi Haifa FC v Steaua (see above) 6 FC Dynamo Kyiv - FC Steaua Bucureşti Thursday 2 October 2014 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit NSK Olimpiyskyi, Kyiv Squad list FC Dynamo Kyiv Current season All-time UEL League UEL UEFA No.
