2016 ITTF World Tour Super Series German Open Berlin, GERMANY 2016 ITTF World Tour Super Series German Open 27 – 31 January 2016 Berlin, GERMANY 1 Tävling German Open World Tour, Berlin Tyskland Domare: Benny Sandmo (Stockholm) Klasser: Men’s Singles (MS) Men’s Doubles (MD) Women’s Singles (WS) Women’s Doubles (WD) U21 Boy’s Singles (U21B) U21 Girl’s Singles (U21G) MS och WS spelades i bäst av 7 set medan MD, WD, U21B och U21G spelades i bäst av 5 set. Tvådomarsystem tillämpades under hela turneringen (även i U21-klasserna). Resa Utresa 26/1: Arlanda, Stockholm – Tegel, Berlin 10:35 – 12:10 (1 tim 35 min) Hemresa 31/1: Tegel, Berlin – Arlanda, Stockholm 21:25 – 22:55 (1 tim 30 min) Lite förseningar i båda riktningarna men eftersom total restid var så pass kort så var det inget som jag påverkades nämnvärt av. Upphämtning i taxi organiserat av arrangören i anslutning till flygplatsen i Berlin. Inkvartering H2 Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz Både de internationella och nationella domarna bodde på hotellet. Dubbelrum tillsammans med den danske domaren Jens Gullberg. Hotellet var av bra standard med ca 3 km:s avstånd till hallen (10 minuter med buss). 2 Måltider Frukost serverades på hotellet medan lunch och middag i arenan. Maten var av mycket bra kvalitet på hotellet men lite sämre på arenan. Frukosten var varierande med inslag av varma rätter medan lunch och middag hade likartade rätter varje dag med pasta och ris som bas. Inte mycket annat än vatten att tillgå i själva domarrummet. Lokala transporter Bussar gick i skytteltrafik mellan arena och hotell med ca 30 minuters mellanrum under hela tävlingen. Att promenera tog dryga 25 minuter om man så önskade detta istället. Något kyligt väder gjorde att man valde det förstnämnda. Ackreditering Från Berlin flygplats kördes man direkt till hallen där ackrediteringen skedde. Därefter kunde man ta en av bussarna till hotellet och installera sig där innan domargenomgången senare på kvällen. 3 Hallen Max Schmeling Halle - Berlin Arenan kändes lite karg då mycket av dess material var av järn och betong. Tävlingen spelades på 8 st. bord i A-hallen (enligt skissen nedan) och på 8 st. bord i den intilliggande B-hallen. Träningsbord fanns i C-hallen till ett antal av 15 st. 4 Tycker att B-hallen var av undermålig kvalitet (både golv och ljussättning) men var godkänd för spel vilket för mig var lite förvånande. Material Bord: Butterfly Centrefold 25 Blue Bollar: DHS 40+ *** White Skyltning Fortlöpande resultatredovisning fanns på informationstavlor inne i arenan. Även nere på själva spelområdet fanns under slutspelet resultattavlor. Domargenomgång Tisdag 26/1 kl.20:00 Max Schmeling Halle Berlin Förrättades av ’Referee’ Jörg Baumgart (Tyskland) och pågick ca 45 minuter. Spelsystem och procedurer gicks igenom tillsammans med hanteringen av ’call area’ och hur racketkontrollen skulle utföras under tävlingen. Domarschemat för första dagens spel (onsdag) delades också ut. Följande dagars tjänstgöringsscheman delades ut på hotellet kvällen innan aktuell speldag. Fungerade bra då ”domargänget” som regel var samlade nere i restaurangen inne på hotellet på kvällarna. Dessutom fanns både domar- och transportschema att tillgå nere i hotellets reception. Gruppfoto på domarna togs inte under genomgången utan istället på onsdag morgon innan spelstart då alla var samlade för en kort genomgång inför tävlingen. Se bild under rubriken domarorganisation. Välkomstparty anordnades redan på Onsdag kväll på hotellet. Detta var mycket uppskattat trots att det kom tidigt i turneringen. 5 Domarorganisation Referee: Jörg Baumgart (Tyskland) Deputy Referee: Christina Crotta (Grekland) Reto Bazzi (Schweiz) Sven Weiland (Tyskland) Michael Zwipp (Tyskland) Totalt 58 st. domare varav 43 st. från hemlandet Tyskland. Övriga domares nationaliteter var Belgien (1 st.), Danmark (1 st.), England (2 st.), Frankrike (1 st.), Iran (1 st.), Italien (2 st.), Kroatien (1 st.), Mongoliet (1 st.), Nederländerna (1 st.), Norge (1 st.), Ryssland (1 st.), Sverige (1 st.) och Österrike (1 st.). Ett stort antal tyska spelare och domare gjorde neutralitetskravet svårt att tillgodose. Detta löstes genom att de inhemska domarna fick agera assisterande domare i de matcher där tyska spelare var inblandade. 6 Blue Badge Blue Badge-utvärderare från ITTF var Predrag Colovic (Makedonien) och Wolfgang Wulz (Österrike). Lottning/Bollvall Senast 20 minuter innan match skulle spelarna vara i ’call area’ och delge sin tröjfärg, coachens namn samt göra bollval (ev. också ha lämnat sin racket till en före match kontroll). Racket Control För varje spelomgång valdes 1-2 st. bord ut till en central racketkontroll (RC) medan på övriga bord fick domarna själva bedöma planhet och mäta tjocklek. Tveksamma racketar i något avseende lämnades in till centrala RC för kontroll. Centrala RC mätte också VOC på de utvalda racketerna. Från lördag utfördes racketkontrollen centralt i ’call area’ på alla racketar. Tjänstgöring Onsdag 27/1: Benny Sandmo (SWE) / Harry Kohl (GER) 5 matcher – 1 call area Torsdag 28/1: Benny Sandmo (SWE) / Arend Hansheinrich (GER) 6 matcher – 1 call area Fredag 29/1: LEDIG Lördag 30/1: Benny Sandmo (SWE) / David Edwards (ENG) 2 matcher – 1 call area Söndag 31/1: Benny Sandmo (SWE) / David Edwards (ENG) 1 match – 1 call area Utöver detta stod man också som reserv till några av matcherna men behövde aldrig ingripa under turneringen. Förvånansvärt få matcher att döma om man ser till hela tävlingen. Hade förväntat mig det motsatta enligt tidigare domare i German Open. Fick förtroendet tillsammans med David Edwards (England) att döma den ena semifinalen i herrsingel mellan kineserna Zhang Jike (regerande olympiske mästaren) och Ma Long (världsetta för dagen). Var assisterande domare i denna match. Pga stor inhemsk domartillgång erbjöds de internationella domarna en ledig dag, vilket jag och mina nordiska kollegor utnyttjade för att turista lite. 7 ”Checkpoint Charlie” ”Jens Gullberg (DEN) och Torstein Rønningen (NOR)” Arrangemanget i stort Mycket välarrangerad men ingick också som enda europeiska tävling i World Tour Super Series. Kändes mer som en mästerskapstävling av kategorin EM eller VM om man ser till den entusiastiska publiken och mängden fotografer/pressfolk. Mycket bra uppslutning av topprankade spelare gjorde att kvalspelet höll en ovanligt hög nivå. Stort publiktryck på de två sista speldagarna av tävlingen. Fickpengar Delades ut under torsdagen till respektive domare och uppgick till € 23 per speldag. 8 Övrigt Säkerheten var rigorös i samband med terrorhoten som legat över Europa de senaste månaderna. Hade man inte sitt inpasseringskort med sig kom man inte in någonstans. Hälsningar Benny Sandmo 9 10 .

Net height research is under discussion and the Athletes Commission proposes to create a Working Group on studying the service rules implementation. Future of World Cups: after their comments, DTTB was requested to submit proposal for the qualification and invitation system for the World Cups, the ITTF Future Event Working Group is reviewing the overall tournament structure, including the World Cups. ITTF-DTTB cooperation with ITTF Development Program: a meeting took place in Frankfurt between the German Sport Ministry (DOSB), DTTB and ITTF Deputy CEO on joint project plans in Africa, equipment assistance for several countries, and a refugee project on Syria-Turkey border.

    17 June 2016 MEDIA RELEASE Zeng Jian claimed her second Under 21 singles title for 2016 at the ITTF World Tour Laox Japan Open (Super Series),15 Jun 2016 - 19 Jun 2016, Tokyo, JPN Zeng Jian beat Hamamoto Yui, Japan 3-1 (6-11,11-6,11-6,11-5) at the ITTF World Tour Loax, Japan Open and claimed her second U21 singles title in the year 2016. “It's an amazing feeling to win, I can't put it into words. There were many strong opponents in this tournament and I am glad that I put up my best performance. So, I would like to thank Singapore Table Tennis Association, Singapore Sports Institute and my coaches for their support.
