President’s welcome and opening remarks The President welcomed all of the Executive Committee members and staff and special notes of thanks were addressed to Khalil Al-Mohannadi (Deputy President) for hosting the Seamaster Qatar 2016 World Tour Grand Finals, ITTF Star Awards and the Executive Committee meeting in Doha. The Deputy President also welcomed everyone and hoped all participants enjoyed the Star Awards Gala. It was further noted that he is looking forward to host more events in Qatar. 2. Presentation on the 2016 World Veteran Championships Jordi Serra (2016 World Veteran TT Championships CEO) thanked ITTF for the help and support during the championships and made a verbal and visual presentation on the successful event. The President thanked Jordi Serra for the presentation and explained that the ITTF is in discussion to integrate the World Veteran Championships in the ITTF competition programme. 3. WORLD CUP 2021 PRE-BULLETIN Orienteering World Cup 2021 Pre-Bulletin WELCOME TO THE WORLD CUP 2021 Dear athletes, Dear fans of orienteering, We, the World Cup consortium, are happy to be able to present a great program for the 2021 World Cup. The World Cup 2021 will consist of nine competitions over 3 events. The same design as for the World Cup 2020. The locations are carefully selected to shape a series of competitions that place demands on a variety of skills. The first round, in Sweden, will require a high level of technical navigation skills. The second round, in Russia, will be all about speed, in legs and brain. The ability to handle high altitude alpine terrain will be a key skill in the third and decisive round. The program marks a further step towards a consolidation and quality improvement of the World Cup. 2021 will be the second year under the management of the World Cup consortium, consisting of IOF and Verein Swiss Cup. This stability gives good opportuni- ties for making the cup attractive to both athletes, fans and the media. The media is showing an increasing interest and we have reasons to believe that TV coverage will be excellent during 2021. We wish athletes, teams, partners, spectators and fans everywhere welcome to the World Cup 2021. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING Victor’s Residenz – Hotel Rodenhof, Saarbrucken, Germany 09h00, Saturday 1 October 2016 MINUTES 1. President’s welcome and opening remarks The President welcomed all of the Executive Committee members and staff, and thanked the German Table Tennis Association for hosting the Executive Committee during the LIEBHERR 2016 Men’s World Cup. 2. German TTA’s Executive Board welcome DTTB President, Mr. Michael Geiger introduced their EB members and thanked for the opportunity to raise few points for joint discussion with the ITTF EC. ITTF’s plan and vision with TTX (urban table tennis): project is in initial stage, final equipment is under development, but Rio OG was proper time to launch to the media. It will be promoted from the bottom to top, targeting new generation of players, but with the aim of having top events in future. Test is planned during and connected to the 2017 WTTC in Düsseldorf, as promotional activities are foreseen in the city. Development of table tennis: DTTB suggested research on making the game more interesting and the rallies longer. Net height research is under discussion and the Athletes Commission proposes to create a Working Group on studying the service rules implementation. Future of World Cups: after their comments, DTTB was requested to submit proposal for the qualification and invitation system for the World Cups, the ITTF Future Event Working Group is reviewing the overall tournament structure, including the World Cups. ITTF-DTTB cooperation with ITTF Development Program: a meeting took place in Frankfurt between the German Sport Ministry (DOSB), DTTB and ITTF Deputy CEO on joint project plans in Africa, equipment assistance for several countries, and a refugee project on Syria-Turkey border. -
