Where is Gibraltar? • Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory • Located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance to the Mediterranean • It has an area of 2.6 square miles (6.7 km2) • Population: 32,000 • GDP: £1.91Bn (2016/17) The University • The University of Gibraltar opened its doors on 21st September 2015. • There are three faculties • Faculty of Business • Faculty of Health and Sport Science • Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality • Three Institutes: • Institute for Gibraltar and Mediterranean Studies • Institute for Earth and Life Sciences • Institute of Continuing Professional Development • Linked to the UK as a Member State of the EU, Gibraltar has access to European FundinG and the Erasmus+ ProGramme. • Gibraltar does not come under the UK universities but we chose to be aliGned with the UK Governance, Academic Framework and Quality Assurance. • The University of Gibraltar has Research DeGree and Research DeGree awardinG powers.
