We will not hand out metro cards after school. Thank you! AMC Math Contest - If you enjoy solving challenging math problems, sign up for this once-a-year opportunity to take the prestigious AMC Math Contest. The contest will be held on Wednesday, February 13th from 3:40 until 5:15. See your math teacher or look for the link on bths.edu for more information and to register for the contest. All motivated math students are encouraged to participate. The College Office will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 29th and Friday, Feb. 1 - all day - to allow staff to work on submitting mid year high school transcripts to colleges for seniors. Should you need assistance today please see staff in the College Office Annex (5S7) or see your guidance counselor. Flowers for Favorites! Come out on Saturday Feb 2, to see jr High School and High School step teams from around NYC compete in the 6th annual Higher Level Step Competition here at Brooklyn Tech HS. Tickets are $5 in the SGO store. The BTHS Guidance Department will be hosting an info session for families interested in learning about the NCAA Eligibility Center and how student-athletes should prepare for possibly playing a sport at a college level. Candymatics will take place from January 29th to February 4th, where you will use your mathematical skills to guess how much candy is in a jar. Prices range from $1 - $3 per guess according to jar sizes. Make your educated guesses between periods 5-9 in the lunchroom (center section). Guess right and win the jar of candy you guessed for! May the odds be ever in your favor! Major War Game - Ever watched "Family Feud" and wanted to be in it? Guess what? The next Major War game will be a family feud between all the majors in tech. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Table Tennis Team on their victory in quarterfinals against Murrow High School yesterday. Shoutout to first singles Jane Medved, second singles Michelle Vilenskiy, third singles Karen Chan, first doubles pair Abigail Isakov and Nicole Chan, and second doubles pair Michelle Jaffe and Joey Ruan. BOYS & GIRLS INDOOR TRACK - The 2018-19 BTHS Boys & Girls indoor track teams wrapped up a busy January schedule at the Ocean Breeze Invitational track meet in Staten Island this past Saturday (Boys) and Sunday (Girls). The meet featured over 250 high schools from 9 different states giving Coach Taylor and Clarke's teams an opportunity to show their mettle against the best runners in this region & beyond. Great work Engineers! The Engineers get Super Bowl weekend off but return to the Ft. Washington Armory the following Sunday (2/10/19) for the PSAL Brooklyn Borough Championships where the Boys will defend their 2017-18 Championship while the Girls will seek to avenge their 2nd place finish to Medgar Evers College Prep HS. Good luck Engineers! JV Boys Basketball - Congratulations to the Boys JV Basketball as they defeated Cobbl Hill HS. Team was led by Manjinder Khera, Kaan Guler, Arianit, Benson Zheng and Jackson Katz... Awesome team Win... and congratulations to the Applebees and Modells raffle winners. Also, please come out Saturday Jan 19th to watch and cheer on The Girls Varsity and Boys JV Basketball 12pm and 2pm..Why stay home when you can come watch some super competitive basketball this Martin Luther King Jr weekend. Applications for this travel scholarship are due March 1, and it covers all trip expenses outside passport fees and scholarships.
