We have hosted both the Kimberley Russell who finished in 14th spot, AClass and Moth Nationals with the 505 very courageous performance as Kimberley Nationals starting this weekend. was the only female participating in the Division. Fantastic effort. We have seen some fabulous sailing over this 2 week period. On New Year’s Eve, Kevin donated 28 kgs of freshly caught prawns to the Club to sell and all proceeds are to be donated to Junior Sailing. The prawns were delicious and the donation to our Club is greatly appreciated. Over the next few months the Club will be trialling a Sailing App called Race Qs. This app can be downloaded for free onto your phone or watch is applicable and can be used as a training tool. We are encouraging all skippers to download the application to see how it works. After racing the data can be uploaded onto a computer and will be shown on the big screen at the RSL Club. WASC will be running information nights on the benefits and application. In this Newsletter there will be an informative document showing how easy it is to use the application. Please have a read and come to our information nights with your queries. Multihull Nil RCO Regattas A Class and Moths produced some great racing with world class skippers participating. Race Secretary Lakefest- RTC regatta change of name back to RTC as sponsor had already paid in advance!! Regatta re formatted to two W/L races on Saturday and Pulbah passage race on Sunday. W/L races contribute to WASC W/L series. New SI amendments for Tom Crowley and Jimmy Alan to be completed early next week Lakefest – Wednesday Twilight. Change of format to scratch start using LMYC start vessel, Calypso. Details will be posted in January. Race will form part of Wednesday twilight series for WASC and RMYCT. Yachts from Newcastle and SLMYC will also participate. Commodore COMMODORES REPORT – Please see newsletter Social Nil General Business WASC will be trialling a sailing tracker App called Race Qs for the summer series in conjunction with Top Yacht. Boats will be able to see how they performed in races as well as the Club trialling start and finish times. Data can be uploaded onto a computer and will be shown on the big screen in the RSL. The App is free to download and all skippers are encouraged to give it a go. Details of upcoming information nights will be communicated very soon. Meeting closed 8.20pm Join the Wangi fleet on RaceQs RaceQs is a dead simple to use GPS tracking phone app and race replay service available to the sailing community free, to get started with RaceQs right now visit http://raceqs.com/started/. 1. Create a free account (option but recommended) 2. Download the App (links at RaceQs.com or search “raceqs” on your app store) 3. Press the start button on the App 4. Upload at the end of the race RaceQs is a free phone app available for iPhone and Android that enables you to track your boats position during a race and then upload after the race or live stream if you prefer. You can then visit the RaceQs website and watch the whole race unfold tack by tack in a 3D simulation, don’t worry you can play back at up to 64x real speed for the slow days. The replays are a lot of fun but also a very useful tool for improving your sailing tactics, there are too many to go into here but RaceQs has a suite race analysis tools at your disposal, showing SOG, VMG, who you are shadowing and leg by leg analysis. The club is encouraging you to start using RaceQs, its already been used to great success with some boats from the Friday Twilights and the Trailer Sailer fleets. To get the full benefit of Wangi RaceQs, Wangi RaceQs officers will be defining the courses, fleets and start times for the race replays. You can see RaceQs in action with the following Wangi race replay (https://tinyurl.com/ycq4kwqf). If you want to participate but don’t have a smart phone capable of running RaceQs on board then contact Graeme Booker ([email protected]) or Graeme Vivian for detail on how you can use almost any GSP device to join in. Don’t forget to start RaceQs before the start of the race, the app allows you to schedule the start so while you’re having breakfast you can schedule your race start so you don’t forget at race start time when you have your hands full.     For Immediate Release: Zhik SB3 World Championships 2011 Event Preview Date: 15th May 2011 Racing for the 2011 Zhik SB3 World Championships 2011 begins on Monday 16th May and runs until Friday 20th May hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club in Torquay, UK. 103 entries represent 14 nations. 2 fleets will compete in 2 days of qualifying races, before splitting into Gold and Silver Fleets for the finals races. 14 races are scheduled for the Championships. The first race will start at 1100 hrs on Monday on the beautiful waters of Torbay. The sun has shone as measurement, registration and launching of the 103 boat fleet was undertaken. Now that this is all but complete, there is great anticipation as the fleet make their final preparations to their boats for the start of racing on Monday. The line up of Olympians (past and present), National, European and World Champions will compete for the title of Zhik SB3 World Champion and the honour of lifting the stunning Waterford Crystal World Championship Trophy and receiving a full crew compliment of Zhik ISOTAK range on Friday 20th May 2011. There is one thing that is guaranteed at this event, competition is going to be fierce and as ever in the Laser SB3 fleet, consistency will be essential.     Club Marine Coaching Clinic 5th – 7th April – Mornington Yacht Club Optimist Rob Brewer Sam McKay Sam comes to us from New Zealand with a wealth of experience, including top 3 placings at the NZ Nationals in each of the Optimist, P Class, 420 and Starling classes. He was a member of the Nations Cup winning NZ team at the 2007 Optimist Worlds and placed in the top 20 in the 2008 Optimist Worlds. Sam is also an accomplished Match Racer, winning the NZ Youth Match Racing Nationals in 2014. Sam has been coaching since 2009. As Head Coach at Worser Bay Boating Club, Sam designed the program that saw the club achieve its best ever NZ Nationals result in 2015, including the National Champion. He was also invited by a club near Boston (USA) to spend last northern summer to run their race squad program. Sam spent this summer in Australia and was part of the VIODA coaching team for World Cup Melbourne and the Nationals. Minnow Paul Rogers Started coaching at Blairgowrie Yacht Club in 2005. Head Coach in the Victorian Minnow Association 2012 - present. Sailing Background - First boat was an old Minnow, sailed minnows for 4 years before moving onto Lasers. Followed the YV pathway program and then moved into 14ft Skiffs for a number of years. Highlights / Achievements - Successfully coaching 5 sailors into the top 10 at the Minnow Nationals over the past 4 Nationals. I am also proud to see the Minnow class holding strong as a sailing community filled with wonderful sailors and supportive parents.

    World Sailing News eSailGP Championship returns with new innovations for 2021 With less than three weeks before the eight international teams meet on the water in Bermuda for the league's return to racing, SailGP today launched the 2021 eSailGP Championship. Building on the success of the inaugural season, which saw more than 146,000 unique players take part across 55,783 individual races, fans will have a chance to test their skills piloting one of the most innovative race boats in the world in a virtual environment on new courses and with new-look boats. The Championship winner will be rewarded with an all-inclusive package to a SailGP event in 2022 and a place in the 2021 eSailing World Championship Final. In partnership with World Sailing and Virtual Regatta, the championship will feature six qualification events over the course of the first half of the season, with a spot in the eSailGP Grand Final on October 15 up for grabs for the winners. The eSailGP Grand Final will see the two gamers with the highest points after three fleet races face off in a single winner-takes-all match race. Two wildcard berths will also be available at the final for a female player and a youth player, who will be selected by a panel of judges. This initiative is in line with SailGP's immediate focus on the advancement of gender equity and its program to fast-track the training and development of female athletes for participation in SailGP. eSailGP Season 1 amassed 753,000 views on SailGP's social platforms and the league has been working to further bring the live shows to life for players and followers, including enhanced graphics, explainer videos and a reinforced expert commentary team.

HAMILTON – April 23, 2021 – After an intense week of training on the water in Bermuda’s Great Sound, the Great Britain SailGP Team is ready for the action to begin with racing starting today, Friday April 23rd, in SailGP Season 2. For the opening event for the season, the first day of racing will now take place a day earlier than scheduled. The weather on Saturday is forecast to be extremely light, therefore it is highly unlikely racing can take place and so the decision has been made to move the racing to ensure a spectacular event. Due to SailGP’s global broadcast agreements, racing on Friday will be pre-recorded and broadcast at SailGP’s allotted broadcast time on Saturday and distributed to all of its global broadcast partners, comprising 175 territories worldwide. SailGP will not be publishing any race results or race content from Friday across its channels. The format of the event’s racing will see three fleet races take place today, April 23rd, (with all eight boats racing together) and two fleet races on Sunday April 25th, followed by a final ‘podium race’ on Sunday with three teams competing to decide the winner of the Grand Prix.
