Following an introduction by Emily Schultz, John Lewis presents the findings of three field visits to evaluate transhumant cattle management in the Sahel. Paul Riesman examines the relationship between the Fulani people of West Africa and their environment, paying particular attention to the people's cultural and environmental ties to their cattle. Gregory Finnegan and Christopher Delgado discuss the relationship between the Mossi farmers and the Fulbe herders in Upper Volta. -

Décembre 2014 Direction régionale de l’Institut national de la statistique et de la démographie de l’Est Avant-propos Au Burkina Faso, l’Institut national de la statistique et de la démographie (INSD) est la structure de référence en matière de production statistique. Depuis 2005, il est déconcentré dans trois régions (Est, Sahel et Hauts-Bassins), ce qui lui permet de mettre régulièrement à la disposition des utilisateurs des productions régionales qui contiennent des informations démographiques, sociales et économiques se rapportant à une région sur une période donnée. Depuis 2012, l’Institut a entrepris d’améliorer le produit « Annuaire régional » et les autres productions, en adoptant, d’une part, une harmonisation des variables présentées, et, d’autre part, sous forme de série de données sur dix années, avec un glissement annuel. Cette autre publication permanente, le tableau de bord régional, contribuera à une plus grande diffusion des statistiques produites par l’ensemble des producteurs sectoriels au cours des dix dernières années, et cela dans la mesure de l’existence et de la qualité des données. -
