Northeast Ohio C.S. Lewis Institute – Northeast Ohio Hosts Community Lecture Series Event to Answer the Question “Can We Love Without God?” Northwestern Nazarene University professor, Dr. Thomas Jay Oord, will explore what science, and say about the human experience of love and address the controversial question, “Is it possible to love without God?” at YSU’s Kilcawley Center on November 14, 2014.

(YOUNGSTOWN, OH) – The C.S. Lewis Institute - Northeast Ohio is hosting an upcoming Community Lecture Series event where Dr. Thomas Jay Oord, professor at Northwestern Nazarene University, will cover the topic of love and what science, philosophy and theology have to say about it. In this free public lecture, Dr. Oord will examine the questions, “Can we love without God? Is it possible to have an authentic love without a God who loves us first? What do science and philosophy tell us about the nature of love? What role can theology play in helping us understand the human experience of love?”

The event will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 7:00-8:30pm in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University. This lecture is free and open to the public, however registration is required. Registration can be completed at oord.eventbrite.com.

Bio: Dr. Thomas Jay Oord is a theologian, philosopher and scholar of multi-disciplinary studies. He is the author and editor of a dozen books and professor at Northwestern Nazarene University, Nampa, . Oord is known for his contributions to research on the subjects of love, relational theology, science and religion, Wesleyan/Holiness/ thought, Evangelical theology and postmodernism. Upon graduating with a Masters of Divinity, he attended Claremont Graduate University in Southern . He earned a Masters of Arts in Religion and a Ph.D. at Claremont School of Theology.
