Vryburg – Piet Plessis 200 SATURDAY 1 MAY 2010 SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS OF: The Northern Regions Junior Championships and Platinum Offroad Club series for Motorcycles and Quads as well as Northern Regions and Platinum Offroad Series for Cars. Held under the General Competion Rules (GCR's) and Standing Supplementary Regulations (SSR's) of Motorsport - South Africa (hereafter referred to as MSA), and these Supplementary Regulations (SR's) together with any Final Instructions and/or Official Bulletins, which may be issued to competitors. 1. WARNING – MOTORSPORT IS DANGEROUS In view of the high speeds attained by competitors, accidents can happen. The promotors and organisers of this race/meeting/event/competition cannot guarantee your safety. You are present at your own risk. 4. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS 4.1 THURSDAY 29th APRIL 2010 17HOO – ENTRIES CLOSED. Internet payments close on Wednesday 28th April 2010. All of the other payments close at registration on the 1st May 2010. 4.2 FRIDAY 30th APRIL 2010 12H00 – 20H00 Documentation at Laerskool Piet Plessis On Friday evening there will be braaipacks with pap and salads available as well as fires for those who wish to braai. FORMAT AND STATUS 5.1 The event will be known as the VRYBURG – PIET PLESSIS 200 and will be run in the PIET PLESSIS area. The event will start at 07h00 on Saturday 1st May 2010 and will be deemed to have finished once the results are final. 5.2 The MSA flag will be flown for the duration of the event. 5.3 The event will count towards the 2010 Northern Regions Motorsport Off Road Championships as well as the 2010 Platinum Off Road Series. 5.4 Race Headquarters will be at the PIET PLESSIS BOERESAAL, about 2km from PIET PLESSIS on the VERGELEË road. Follow markers on all main roads leading to Piet Plessis. 6. DESCRIPTION 6.1 Competitors who have not completed documentation and scrutineering will not be permitted to start. Competitors will be required to complete the documentation and scrutineering formalities as detailed in SR 4.2. Car competitors will be allocated a starting position as their time trail results with 1 minute intervals. 6.2 Car Racing Sections Racing section 1 (Time Trial) of 1 lap of 20km. Racing section 2 will be approximately 200km, comprising of 2 laps with a service point after each lap. 6.3 Jnr Motorcycle and quads Racing Section The junior Motorcycle and Quads racing section will comprise of three or four 30km loops or 1h30 / 2hrs racing time respectively. NOTE: THIS IS A LAP RACE AND THERE WILL BE ONE DESIGNATED SERVICE POINT AT THE END OF EACH LOOP. 6.4 Food and beverages will be on sale at PIET PLESSIS BOERESAAL on Saturday 1st May 2010 6.5 Pre race practicing – refer to SSR 312 6.6 Competitors briefing will be on Saturday 1st May 2010 6.7 The Clerk of the Course reserves the right (subject to the approval of the Stewards of the meeting) to: 6.7.1. Alter the departure times and route if forced to do so through weather conditions, or for any other reason; 6.7.2. Alter the scoring methods, if it is found to be necessary to do so; 6.7.3. Alter the times stated in the clauses of these Supplementary Regulations 6.8 The promotors/organisers reserves the right (subject to the approval of MSA to postpone or cancel the event for reasons of “force majeure” Refer to GCRs 62 and 244 of the 2010 MSA Handbook. 7. ROVING JUDGES OF FACT WILL BE APPOINTED TO OBSERVE COMPLIANCE WITH SSR 309. (i) COMPETITORS ARE REMINDED THAT IT IS COMPULSARY FOR THEM TO STOP AND ASCERTAIN WHETHER IT IS SAFE TO CROSS IRRESPECTIVE OF WHETHER AN OFFICIAL (TRAFFIC OFFICER OR OTHERWISE) INDICATES THAT THEY SHOULD PROCEED. 8. ELIGIBILITY AND PRE-START REQUIREMENTS 8.1 Competitors 1. All competitors must comply with SSR 300 2. All competitors to have medical tag on wrist 3. Competitors require a minimum of a club licence in order to participate in the Platinum Off Road Series event & a regional licence in order to participate in the Northern regions Championships. 4. No club licence will be for sale on the day 8.2 Advertising Refer to GCR 246 (iii), GCR 247 and SSR 301 (I). 8.3 Acquintance with and submission to the Rules Competitors attention is drawn to GCR 122 9. CREW AND CHANGE OF CREW OR VEHICLE 9.1 Refer to SSR 300 (iv). 9.2 A change of crew or vehicle, but not both, may be permitted by the Stewards of the Meeting, in terms of GCRs 99 (vii), 152 (viii), 238 (I) and 259. Any application for such change must be made, in writing, and will only be permitted prior to the crew having completed documentation, refer SSR 300 (iv). 10. CLASSES 10.1 DESCRIPTION OF JNR BIKES AN QUAD CLASSES: Class 1: Jnr Motorcycle 65cc, 85cc and Pitt bikes 150cc (4 stroke Ages 8-12yrs) Class 2: Jnr Motorcycle 85cc, 105cc (2-stroke) and 150cc (4 stroke Ages 12 – 15yrs) Class 3: Jnr Motorcycle 125cc, 200cc and 250cc (4 stroke) Class 4: Jnr Modified Quads 200cc and 300cc (4 strokes) Class 5: Jnr Hybrids Quads (Hybrids and 400cc 4 stroke STD) Class 6: Junior Open 450cc 10.2 DESCRIPTION OF CARS CLASSES 10.2.1 Vehicles will be divided into classes as contained in the NR Off Road Car Circular 08/2010 10.2.2 Special Vehicles – B , P , X , W 10.2.3 Production Vehicles – D , E , Y , Z 11. ENTRIES 11.1 GENERAL Entries open immediately and close at 17h00 on Thursday, 29th April 2010, by which time properly completed entry forms accompanied by prescribed fee must be in the possession of the organisers. The organisers reserve the right to limit the number of entries to a maximum of eighty (80) per category. Entries in excess of this will be selected in accordance of GCR 101 and SSR 300 (v). Should a competitor be uncertain of whether he will be able to compete, he should nevertheless submit an entry. Should he then be unable to compete he should inform the organisers, in writing, by no later than 17h00, Friday 30th April 2010. If the organisers are in receipt of such a withdrawal of entry they will refund the entry fee less a R50-00 handling fee to the entrant. 11.2 ENRTY FEES Junior Motorcycles & Quads: Entry Fee for Regional - R400 Entry Fee for Platinum - R400 Entry Fee for Both - R500 Cars: Entry Fee for Regional - R500 Entry Fee for Platinum - R500 Entry Fee for Both - R600 These entry fees include the regional Levy as well as MSA Levy but DO NOT INCLUDE a meal ticket.
