Alvamar Golf Club Jayhawk and Quail Creek, joined by the Hidden Valley nine in 1973. The Sunflower annually hosts the Web.com Qualifier and has been the site of the United States nine opened in 1978 and in 1982, the Hidden Valley and Sunflower nines became Golf Associations Women’s Public Links tournament. It was the site of the Big Alvamar Country Club. Eight Conference Men’s Championship for eight consecutive years, and in 1990, the Big Eight Conference Women’s Championship was held at Alvamar and Alvamar was named by developer and one time men’s golf coach Bob Billings won by the Jayhawks. Alvamar Golf Club hosted the inaugural Big 12 Women’s from the contraction of the names of his parents, Alva and Margaretta Billings of Championship in 1997 and has been the site of the KU men’s Kansas Invitational Russell, Kan. Five different golfers can use the radiant heated facility with three golfers in each of the small bays, along with two golfers utilizing the larger bay, at one time. 4 2014-15 KANSAS MEN’S GOLF JAYHAWKS IN THE PROS AND ALL-AMERICANS RYAN VERMEER (ALL-AMERICAN 1999, 2000) Led KU in scoring average in 1999 (72.80) and 2000 (71.31). KRIS MARSHALL (ALL-AMERICAN 2002, 2003) Named All-American in back-to-back years in 2002 and 2003, Marshall recorded 17 top-10 finishes during his career and was named All-Big 12 in 2002 and 2003. As a senior, Marshall was the Jayhawks’ top finisher in 10 of 14 events. Marshall was also named Academic All- Big 12 in 2001. CHRIS THOMPSON EGOLF TOUR AND WEB.COM TOUR Thompson recently proved he’s still got it with a win at the Championship at Ballantyne Country Club in March - his third on the tour since the 2010 season. In 2010, he claimed his first eGolf Tour title at the HGM Hotels Classic at Rock Barn, while win No. 2 came at the Columbia Open in May of 2011. At KU, Thompson was a three-time All-Big 12 selection (1997-99) and still holds the Kansas record for lowest round in an NCAA Tournament with a 69 in the second round at the 1998 NCAA Championship. MATT GOGEL PGA TOUR AND PRO GOLF ANALYST Gogel spent seven seasons on the PGA Tour before retiring after the 2007 Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, an event where he had his best professional success.
