Composite comments regarding the proposals My Proposed Constitunecies

72,921 Belfast East

The eintre DEAs of Lisnasharragh, Ormiston and Titanic The wards of Central and Ormeau, from Botanic DEA

I only minorly altered this constituency.

71,266 Belfast North West

I kept this constituency unchanged from Boundary Commission proposals.

72,723 Belfast South West

The eintre DEAs of Balmoral an Collin The Black Mountain DEA, minus the ward of Beechmount The Botanic DEA, minus the wards of Central and Ormeau

I only minorly altered this constituency.

74,317 North Down

I kept this constituency unchanged from Boundary Commission proposals.

72,440 Strangford

The eintre DEAs of Ard Peninusla, Castlereagh South, Comber and Newtownards The ward of Moneyreagh, from Castlereagh East DEA The ward of Saintfield, from Rowallane DEA

I was going to proposed the name of Ards and Castlereagh for this constituency, but it still emcopass more than half of the coastline of Strangford Lough, so I kept it as Strangford.

70,953 Lisburn and South Antrim

The eintre DEAs of Downshire East, Killultagh, Lisburn North and Lisburn South The Downshire West DEA, minus the ward of Moira The Airport DEA, minus the wards of Mallusk and Templepatrick

I honestly could not think of a better name for this constituency. The ward of Moira would make as much sense here as in Upper Bann, but removing it from Upper Bann left the constituency a little too small.

72,396 Mid Down

The eintre DEAs of Downpatrick and Slieve Croob The Banbridge DEA, minus the ward of Gilford The Rowallane DEA, minus the ward of Saintfield The Lagan River DEA, minus the wards of Donaghcloney and Waringstown The ward of Tollymore, from The Mournes DEA

This constituency came about as a result of moving Castlereagh into Strangford and the realization that Newry and Mourne worked as a consituency. I am rather pleased with it.

72,329 Upper Bann

The eintre DEAs of Craigavon and Lurgan The Portadown DEA, minus Loughgall The ward of Gilford, from the Banbridge DEA The ward of Moira, from the Downshire West DEA The ward of Tandragee, from the Cusher DEA The wards of Donaghcloney and Waringston, from the Lagan River DEA

I think keeping Upper Bann similar to its original design works a lot better, as it was always a rather large constituency.

73,113 Newry and Mourne

The eintre DEAs of Crotlieve, Newry and Slieve Gullion The Mournes DEA, minus the ward of Tollymore

I was surpised this constituency worked! I orginally kept the ward of Tollymore here, but Mid Down was just a little too small.

74,287 Armagh and Blackwater

The eintre DEAs of Armagh, Valley, The Cusher DEA, minus the ward of Tandragee The Torrent DEA, minus the wards of Stewartstown and Washing Bay The ward of Loughgall, from the Portadown DEA

This is another constituency I was surprised worked. The Blackwater River forms the boundary of with both Counties Armagh and Monaghan, so it was only fair to include the Clogher Valley DEA here, and the name ‘Blackwater’ in the new constituency.

72,671 Fermanagh and

The eintre DEAs of Enniskillen, Erne East, Erne North, Erne West, Omagh and West Tyrone The wards of and , from the Mid Tyrone DEA

The northern end of this constituency looks a little odd around Omagh. However, I managed to keep it one council area, and slightly shorten the name at the same time.

73,352 Mid Ulster

The eintre DEAs of Derg, , Magherafelt and Sperrin The Mid Tyrone DEA, minus the wards of Beragh and Sixmilecross The wards of Stewartstown and Washing Bay, from the Torrent DEA The ward of Ballymaguigan, from the Moyola DEA

This my attempt to rework the proposed North Tyrone constituency. I am reasonable pleased with the outcome, however I toyed with keeping Donaghmore in Armagh and Blackwater or moving into here. I proposed the name Mid Ulster for this constituency, mainly because I’ve never heard anyone talk about ‘North Tyrone’ before, and now the constituency includes parts of County Londonderry.

73,934 Foyle

The eintre DEAs of Ballyarnet, Faughan, Foyleside, The Moor and Waterside

My only change to this constituency was to include the rather misplaced ward of Claudy.

71,979 East Londonderry

The eintre DEAs of Benbradagh, Carntogher, Coleraine and Limavady The DEA of Moyola, minus the ward of Ballymaguigan

I considered the names of ‘Binevenagh and Glenshane’ and ‘North ’ for this constitunecy, and the more riduclous name of ‘Lower Bann’, but East Londonderry was the only one that looked some what right.

77,000 Dalriada

The eintre DEAs of Ballymoney, Ballymena and Causeway The Bannside DEA, minus the ward of Grange The Glens DEA, minus the ward of Lurigethan The wards of Ballee & Harryville, Kirkinriola and Glenravel, from the Braid DEA

I hate the fact that I’ve managed to rip the ‘Causeway Triangle’ apart, but sadly I couldn’t get anything else to work as well with the neighbouring constituencies. However, I greatly prefer the name of Dalriada over North Antrim.

72,453 Mid Antrim

The eintre DEAs of Antrim, Ballyclare and Dunsilly The Glengormely DEA, minus the ward of Collinbridge The Braid DEA, minus the wards of Balle & Harryville, Kirkinriola and Glenravel The wards of Templepatrick and Mallusk, from Airport DEA The ward of Grange, from Bannside DEA The ward of Mossley, from Three Mile Water DEA

This is my slightly more sensible reworking of the proposed West Antrim constituency. Like Mid Ulster, I changed the name to Mid Antrim, as I have never heard anyone talk about ‘West Antrim’.

75,235 East Antrim

The eintre DEAs of Carrickcastle, Coast Road, Knockagh, Larne Lough The Three Mile Water DEA, minus the ward of Mossley The Macedon DEA, minus the ward of Valley The ward of Lurigethan, from The Glens DEA

My only major change to this constituency is reallocation of several wards down at the Newtownabby end.
