6 7 8 1ST BARNS GREEN AND RAINBOWS, BROWNIES AND GUIDES

To register your daughter’s interest in Rainbows, Brownies or Guides visit www.girlguiding.org.uk/joinus or email [email protected]

We currently have spaces for an immediate start for Brownies aged 7 -10.

The new academic year is always an exciting one. The girls are keen to share news of their holiday activities and adventures, new teachers and new schools. We have new children starting their guiding journey and some moving up to the next stage as they get a little older. It’s always a busy one for us. We help with some community events such as the half marathon and Remembrance Service, and try to add in a fund raiser for a different charity each year.

You may have heard that there is a massive change in the Guiding programme and how the activities and badges have received the biggest restructure in years. We hope the girls will help us choose where to start on this new scheme and give us plenty of feedback. Being a village unit, we will strive to keep up our outdoor adventures and continue to have local guests to our unit.

The new programme brings some reflection about how many different badges the girls have passed, some of which are revamped and will carry on and others which have been ‘retired’. We think about how many girls have been enrolled and enjoyed guiding within the village, the number of Sixers, Seconders, buddy’s and patrol leaders we have had, some have come back as volunteers or have done their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering with us. We are proud about the money we have raised for charity, how many different sports we have tried, the quality of cooking and crafts made, remembering places we have visited, joint adventures and the variety of interesting visitors to our unit. To all of you in the village who have given your time to support us THANK YOU.

Carrying on with our community effort, we continue to collect used postage stamps. The girls will nominate which charity these will support this year. Feel free to get in touch to add yours.
