GLIMPSES FROM OUR OPUT REACH ROGRAM

Door to door awareness is explained with the rationale of ABC and support requested from community residents. Those with fears and phobias are reassured with measures that protect them. Only after they are paci$ ed does the programcommence.

We are overjoyed when dogs previously adopted from our shelter, are brought forward for sterilization operations. The dogs are always very happytoseeus!

8 BCLUE ROSS OFH YDERABAD A wonderful note of thanks for us,from a citizen of Hyderabad

This loving family takes care of the dogs in their neighborhood and are very keen about their well- being. They got $ ve dogs that they take care for, neutered and are very happy with the results. They are an excellent community resource to spread awareness and understanding about the bene$ ts of the program. Community dogs serve most homes as securityandcompanions. A pro animal citizen from Prashanthi Nagar, KPHB Colony helped round up 30 dogs in his area for ABC. Initially he saw our van picking up dogs in the neighboring area and approached us. When we explained the importance of ABC, he became an active supporter and continues to be a good communityresource.

12 BCLUE ROSS OFH YDERABAD ADDOPTION AY

On Adoption Days many loving families adopt Indian puppies and dogs; and kittens and gave them a loving home. It is our platform to provide homes for homeless pups, where foster caretakers came with their puppies to makebestuseofourplatform.

Note: We do not house puppies at our shelter. We do not encourage or advise groups of puppies to be housed together. Puppies must be vaccinated before being housed in an animalshelter.

Adoption Day ensures pups move from a safe foster care home to the family that adopts them.

There is no better way to spread happiness and joy for animals than by adopting them, and giving them a loving home and family. Here are a few glimpses of the animals adopted into lovinghomes, bythewonderfulpeople!

Hima bindu Madala, one of our regular and dedicated volunteers, shares her experience ofbeenapartoftheadoptiondayactivities.

"On the 29th of December, we hosted our monthly adoption drive at the shelter where we provide a support to foster parents to put their rescued puppies and kittens up for adoption. Families who are looking for a loving pet, visit to adopt them. We had 34 rescues come in, out of which 28 found good homes to grow up in. Other volunteers were ready to receive them, providing puppies and kittens with food and water. ANNUAL R EPORT 2019-20 13 Adoption Day in conducted in the adoption space sponsored by 'MARS' (Pedigree) and the family carry home a bag of puppy food to get started.

"Our volunteers continued to look after the puppies and kittens for the entire duration of the drive, chatted up with some of the fosters and were moved with emotion when listening to some of their rescue stories. It's a miracle how a number of these animals overcame all their struggles and fought with all their might toliveon, andto$ ndafamilywhowilllovethem withalltheirheartandbeing.

"We host these drives in hopes to educate the public about Indian dogs who have been left on the streets to die, due to the rise in demand for breed dogs. We hope that these drives allow us to educate them about how very marvelous Indian dogs can be when it comes to intelligence, friendship, orevenmaintenance!"

MeetMr.SaiKrishnaTeja Blue Cross of Hyderabad is a place where people can $ nd real peace of mind in seeing and interacting with the warm and loving dogs here. We think a lot of stuff in our head as humans and have many assumptions but here the dogs without a leg or eyes are so happy. They have that happy face always when they come to you. When they see a new person in the shelter, they interact with utmostloveandaffection.

MeetMs.Chaitrali Whenever I'm in Blue Cross of Hyderabad I feel like I am at home.My co-volunteers started calling me "oldest volunteer". Since then our motive to serve animals hasn't changed but only the ways in which we are doing it has changed. Presently we moved towards programs like Birth control, Anti rabies vaccination and creating awareness among people. All of us workherewithlotofpassion, love, dedicationandwillingness.

MeetMs.Himabindu Caring for the rescues has taught me to appreciate and learn from the life on the streets. They are deserving of a comfortable life and so, adoptions are a bliss for us volunteers due to the looks of sheer contentment on the faces of adopters with new additions to their families, all snuggled up in their arms and ready to start a new life. This, intheend, makesitallworthit.

MeetMs.AparnaChalla 'I didn't just stop my service at the shelter boundaries. The basics I learnt from Blue Cross has helped me rescue, treat, re-home and rehabilitate many homeless animals from the streets. Be it, dogs, cats, cows, horses, birds, monkeys, ducks, rabbits, squirrels, guinea pigs, and any animal that I could help. I still visit them and they're all happy with their loving families in their beautiful homes. Had I not thought of taking that $ rst step of trying to help them, wouldtheybethewaytheyarenow? It overwhelms me to think of the change I brought in these beautiful souls…and, it all started with BlueCrossofHyderabad!

MeetMs.KashviGaddam AbigThankYoutoallourvolunteers! You people are so good to the animals and the area they live in is so clean. Fresh water always, nutritious food and you have great affection for the animals. Our Education O" cer Mr. Sai Pavan, regularly conducts sessions at various schools across the city. The session for school students is called "Understanding Animals" and is supported by Pedigree-MARS India. The session covers what animals say with their body language. The session also prepares students how to help animals, and how to ensure not to get bitten by a dog, and what to do in the case of a dog bite, for their safety. Mr. Pavan successfully gave awareness sessions to 2000+ students in the span of four months. More schools are interested in conducting such awareness programs in their respective schools too and approach us. This is a positive and welcome sign forholisticeducation.
