ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN BEGINS

Dear Friends in Camping,

By now, many of you will have received a letter soliciting your support for the ACA, New England Annual Fund. Published here is the list of the many individuals, camps and businesses who pledged last year to support the many programs in New England which directly benefit us as camping professionals. We are particularly grateful for this support because many of the names on the list were also generous supporters of the highly- successful Capital Campaign. One visit to your new home in Lexington will remind you how valuable this campaign was in aiding our work.

Whether or not you have been able to support the Annual Fund in the past, we hope that you will be able to consider a contribution or a pledge. If you have not received information about this, please contact Diane Chaisson at the ACA New England office. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and thanks again to the many who have been our generous supporters.

Camp Enrollment Results for Summer 2006 www.acacamps.org/research/camprecruitment.php Wondering how enrollments were for summer 2006? Results are in for Enrollment Survey 2006 and the major findings are posted on this page. Watch for an article covering the enrollment information and comparisons to the data gathered last year in the March/April 2007 issue of Camping Magazine. During the ACA National Conference in Austin, a special session is being offered with a primary focus on enrollment issues for religiously-affiliated camps.

Latest Camp Salary Data Released www.acacamps.org/research/salary_study.php The American Camp Association (ACA) continues its signature research efforts into the business of camp operations. This Camp Salary Information was gathered in the fall of 2006 in a survey of 1,797 camp owners and operators who were a stratified, representative sample of almost 2,700 camps affiliated with ACA. This is the largest study of its kind providing current information to camp owners and operators about salaries—that area of the budget that, on average, consumes 54 percent of a day camp’s budget and 40 percent of a resident camp’s budget.

New Online Tools to Promote the Value of ACA Accreditation www.acacamps.org/accreditation/talking_points.php ACA has developed talking points and a PowerPoint® presentation to help you share the message with parents and the public about the benefits of the camp experience and the importance of ACA accreditation. These are available for download. The talking points are in an online, Web version and in PDF format.

ACA Connect www.acacamps.org/connect ACA has established a program to connect camps and companies with appropriate, ACA pre-screened free products. ACA is regularly contacted by companies and corporations that have materials, products, and other resources available for camps FREE of charge. Some of the products are: food items, games, arts & crafts supplies, posters, sports equipment and educational materials. Sign up today!

Take this brief survey www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=820382530052 and tell ACA what equipment or materials your camp would be interested in receiving as part of these programs. Taking the survey does NOT obligate you or your camp to the new ACA Connect program. ACA Connect will be a permission-based program that your camp will sign up for when the program is initiated . . . . Watch for more details.

ACA Purchase Power www.acacamps.org/purchasepower/ ACA is beginning the process of negotiating directly with manufacturers of products regularly used by camps such as boat makers, paper/office supplies, balls, , life preservers, etc. By combining our purchasing power, ACA camps could realize huge bulk pricing . . . 10,000 case (combined purchase power) pricing on copy paper as opposed to 5 case (individual camp purchase power) pricing.
