Day 2: Lauris – Merindol. You will follow the vines, sheltered by the southern side of the Luberon. On the way, chance of a wine tasting visit in a “Cave de Vins”. Picnic in a pine grove: a copious buffet prepared by our assistant. In the evening, dinner and night spent in a nice guesthouse. A pleasant meal accompanied by a “Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence”. Day 3: Merindol – Oppède. Ride through pine forests with wonderful views of the Durance valley with orchards, whose fruit you will taste at the picnic. In the afternoon, landscapes of cliffs where eagles and other birds of prey nest. Arrive at Oppède where the horses will stay for the night. For the riders transfer to Coustellet. Today, you enter into the “Côtes de Ventoux” producing area, via the Vaucluse mounts. You will reach the “mur du peste” a wall constructed in 1720 to protect the populations from the great epidemic that spread from Marseille. Night near Venasque, a historical village. Day 5: Venasque – Crillon le Brave. Countryside of rolling hills, through pine forests and cherry trees, facing the “Mont Ventoux” called the "Giant of Provence". Before lunch wine taste at the Domaine des Anges. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at the Moulin d'Antelon or other guesthouse near the village Crillon le Brave. The village takes its full name of Crillon-le-Brave from the most legendary of its dukes: Louis des Balbes de Berton de Crillon or "Le Brave Crillon" (1541–1615) was one of Henri IV's ercest and most valiant generals during the French Wars of Religion in the late 16th century. The same Crillon family also gave its name to the famous Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. Before dinner you can enjoy the swimmig-pool. Day 6: Crillon le Brave – Gigondas. You will ride through villages, with the “Mont Ventoux” in the background. Picnic near the Barroux village and chateau. In the afternoon you will discover the “Dentelles de Montmirail”, needle thin spikes and ridges (“dentelle” means lace). Wine taste at Domaine de Cassan, in the heart of this beautifull range. End of the ride at Gigondas. Transfer to Lauris. Day 7: End of the trail after breakfast. Free transfer to Aix en Provence train stations or Marseille airport (departure at 9:30 am). * Indicative itinerary: may be changed if necessary. MEETING/DEPARTURE MEETING: Day 1 afternoon (usually Sunday, check according to the dates) at Cap Rando, Mas de Recaute in Lauris. Free transfer from Marseille airport (5 pm), Aix en Provence TGV station (5:30 pm), Aix en Provence center train station (5:45 pm). DEPARTURE: Day 6 morning after breakfast (usually Saturday, check according to the dates). GUIDE & ASSISTANT: 1 qualied guide speaking French and English + 1 professional assistant ensuring luggage transports and preparing lunch buffets. HORSES: Essentially crosses of Spanish, Arab, French breed. Horses are allocated according to each rider weight, height, riding level and experience. All our horses are trail riding “professionals”. Living throughout the year in a herd, trail riding is their only work activity. For these reasons, they are well-balanced gentle, yet wilfully engaged. TACK: Comfortable trail ride saddles equipped with saddle bags. Trail ride saddles are especially designed for long rides as well as for the gaits employed on this type of terrain. Toute évocation de suicide et d’idées de mort doit être prise au sérieux. La majorité des personnes décédées par suicide avaient fait part de leurs intentions avant de passer à l’acte. Nous pouvons tous intervenir face à une personne suicidaire. Avant tout en étant là et en parlant avec elle du suicide. La plupart des personnes qui se suicident n’expriment pas un désir de mort en tant que tel, mais une réelle souffrance et un besoin d’apaisement que seule la mort semble pouvoir leur apporter. Parler de suicide et de ses émotions avec une personne suicidaire permet de la soulager et réduit le risque de passage à l’acte. Plus le nombre de tentatives de suicide augmente, plus le risque de décès par suicide augmente lors du prochain passage à l’acte. Il ne faut donc pas minimiser les tentatives de suicide répétées. 1. Il faut savoir Quelques données... Il y a environ 11 000 décès par suicide et 3 500 décès par accident de la route chaque année en France. Le suicide représente la 2e cause de décès chez les adolescents et les jeunes adultes. L’accès aux déchèteries (contrôle à l’entrée des sites) à les habitants devront présenter une pièce d’identité et un justificatif de domicile, et respecter les jours réservés à leur commune de domiciliation (tableau ci-après). Riding ­ To the south there are plains with fruit trees and vineyards and medieval villages perched above. ­ To the west the Dentelles de Montmirail offer varied terrain and some small passes such at the Col de la Chaine, Col de Suzette which often mark people’s memories. ­ To the north is the Drôme Provençale with endless curvy roads, small climbs, hidden valleys, quaint villages and an occasional lake. ­ To the east is the Giant of Provence, Mont Ventoux All these rides to the scents of wild rosemary, thyme, lavender and olives, apricots and more. Provence is a wonderful ride for the senses. Mont Ventoux + Gorges de la Nesque An amazing ride that starts with a 21km climb up Mont Ventoux from Malucene. Having enjoyed the view, had a coffee we start a 32km descent to Sault for lunch on the town green. The town is best known for lavender and there are many fields of this delightful plant to see. The second half of the day takes us through the Gorges de la Nesque, A 22 km progressive descent marked out by tunnels and by belvederes in the heart of an exceptional landscape: The Gorges de la Nesque is a most beautiful hydro geologic sight and a wild canyon. Once at the bottom we head towards Bédoin and around the south side of Mont Ventoux before tackling a small Col de la Madelene and coasting back to Malaucene. 105km, 2070m climbing Les Barronies After a relatively flat 15k this ride heads to Buis Les Baronnies and then up the Col d’Ey with several switchbacks incredible views of Mont Ventoux.
