The World Champi- Eonships were held in Detroit, Michigan and Houston, Texas. This year, FTC team TOWR 5291 was lucky enough to be selected by the lottery to participate in the World Championship competition in Detroit. In the lottery, a team’s chance of being selected is greater if their team has been around longer. This made them the first FTC team from Oxford to participate in the World Cham- pionship. In the World Championship, most of the FTC teams are made up of high school students. However, since the program is so big in Michigan, FTC is restricted to middle school students. Less than 10% of teams at Worlds were middle school teams and the rest were high school. With 15 team members and hundreds of hours of work and dedication, TOWR competed amongst teams from Taiwan to Italy to Romania and England.
