ID Response 3 Just try to make the internet connection better. 8 No problems. Resnet is fast, love it 13 No 20 nope 21 None. 22 No, thank you. 25 Make Internet service faster. 26 Can oit help speed up my computer if I go to the walk in center for example removing unneeded programs and basic clean-up? 35 none 36 Please dont make cable mandatory. I dont want to watch TV and dont want to have to pay for it. 37 I think charging $15 for 20 or so channels is the best idea because it is so expensive now. The plan was for me to buy the TV and my roommate the cable hookup but once she saw how much it was she refused so all year we have had a brand new 32" flat screen with no use. 38 no 39 none 40 No 42 None 44 no 47 Why is the "ncsu" network so unreliable outside of the Honors Village Commons (HVC)? If more than 2 computers are outside, the network will kick someone off. 49 None. 51 Fix your connection issues in Watauga. The whole building would lose any net service, the cable connections in the room and the NCSU wi-fi connection. Its aggravating because it happens at least 4 times a week. 54 No 55 No thank you 57 No. 58 N/A 61 This is in regard to ResNet. I have noticed that the connection speed is great most of the time, but occasionally there is a lag spike where bandwidth drops to 0. It recovers (to about half of its normal speed) within 2-3 seconds so it isnt as noticeable. Then, it recovers back to its full speed within the next 5-10 seconds (I observed this with a network monitoring tool). I have noticed this occurring at both Wolf Village (two different buildings) and Owen Hall. I believe this might be a campus wide issue. It is particularly noticeable when gaming or doing any sort of task that requires a consistent connection. It almost seems like the lag spikes are on a time interval, occurring every 5-10 minutes. 65 Do not make cable service mandatory! 68 none. 70 none 80 No 83 N/A 84 No 88 None 93 Yes! The Internet service on campus this year was horrendous. It would drop out and leave me without Internet for an indeterminate amount of time. If I had a lot of work to do, I wasnt able to do it. I found it especially happened in Riddick and the library. It was appalling how often it happened. page 185 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

96 Dorm wifi connection should be stronger. Perhaps consider installing more routers? 102 Which channels would be provided if everyone paid $15 and everyone received 20 channels? Overall, I am satisfied with the services provided. 103 Nope, no questions, you guys are awesome! 109 N/A 110 none. 112 Overall, I was very pleased with the technology offered by NC State this year! 113 ResNet is great and very beneficial for completing my school work! 121 How much cheaper would cable be with mandatory $15 fee? 122 No 125 Hire actual Computer Science majors to work in your OIT office. If a Design major knows more about her OS than you do, thats a problem. 132 N/A 137 n/a 138 Everyone with wireless should password protect it so that other peoples devices dont automatically connect to it. 139 No 143 N/A 147 Thank you very much for your working. 151 None 154 No 157 No 161 Who would I contact to look at my computer about my internal microphone not picking up sound and getting that fixed? 162 A lot of times there are drops in the internet in the library and some buildings such as the lounges in dorm rooms. This could be looked at and possibly made better. 166 I might suggestion upgrading the router for the library, while sitting in the library commons, I often have the internet cutting in and out regardless of what device I am using. 175 No 179 I do not have any questions, comments, or suggestions. 180 Great job! Love everything going on at Hunt as well as other places around campus. OIT is doing an overall great job that makes my college experience easier and more enjoyable. The ability to check out resources from the libraries is an invaluable tool that I love having at my fingertips. Thanks for doing a great job and keep up the good work 181 None. 183 The list of software that I wish would be provided is completely invalid because I use only Linux and only one of those applications is available for Linux. 192 Dont make student that dont have a television, pay for television when they arent going to use it. Not everyone need to sit in front of the television and get fat... 193 n/a 194 Id like a better way to register my phone so that I dont have to login with my unity ID each time I want to get on the internet...or better directions online if this is an option. 195 I think we need a strong WiFi system. Near Poe, SAS, and Park Shops I have been experiencing very slow WiFi and usually my phone can not connect to the internet. This is relatively new, last semester it did not happen once I was able to register my phone on resnet again. 202 None 208 GET HD CABLE ALREADY! 210 ResNet was very unreliable this year and spotty. I was disappointed since I had such a good experience the previous year. 219 I would like there to be a one time fee for Cable for a the year. If someone decided to leave, they could get a prorated refund. The amount now may be frightening to some and scare them from purchasing cable, but if you got rid of the expensive channels (ex. HBO) and lowered the cost, I think that more people would be prone to buying cable. 224 no. 227 Fix the issues that you have before implementing new things. I would love if the walk-in center had employees who did what they were there for. 228 I love the Nomad System and how I dont have to sign in to ncsu wireless at every location-definitely a benefit that not all students know about! I love that students now have gmail/ncsu email accounts. 231 Fix the internet in Riddick! 234 Please please please make the wireless better! :) 237 no 241 I would like to see the hours of when the computer labs are closed for classes posted in front of the door to the computer labs so you dont go in and mistakenly disrupt a class, like

page 186 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

the computer lab in Wither DOES NOT have. 247 What channels or types of channels would be included in the mandatory 20 channels for $15? 249 n/a 251 no 252 No 259 :D 264 Im not sure if it is just the wireless router that we have in our apartment, but only a certain number of devices can be using the wireless internet at a time. This poses a problem with four of us who all have smart phones and laptops, and visitors coming in with their smart phones and sometimes bringing their laptops. If it is ResNet that is the problem, then I would like to see this fixed, but like I said, the problem could possibly be with the router. 269 thank you for all you do 272 A wireless with more constant bandwidth, if possible. 275 No but thanks 277 No 279 It is hard a lot of times to stay connected to the NCSU wifi and that makes it difficult to complete online assignments. 286 No 287 I would like to get BBC America and ESPNNews through NCSU cable but they are not currently available. 293 Occasionally the internet will not work on some of the laptops that are offered by the library, especially the mini pc laptops. Somehow fix the connection problem with these computers.

Also, about 3 or 4 times a semester I have problems with my internet access and even plugging my laptop directly into the Ethernet port will not work. I do not know if this is just because a lot of students are accessing the internet in Wolf Village or if the connection is slow but it has been frustrating when it happens. 297 nope 302 None 312 None 315 I have always been impressed by the speed of the help whenever I email. ECEhelp responds promptly when I have a question about software or cable requirements for a research project. 320 More stable connection. Mine resets/disconnects for about 10 seconds once every 2 weeks or so. 327 Sometimes there are rolling packet drops across campus, making online gaming very irritating. I will be on skype, and I will notice compete unresponsiveness of the game for about a second 3 times in quick succession, then my friends i am playing with in Owen will have the same thing happen to them about 10 seconds later. THis usually happens about once every 10 minutes. Please fix this 339 There was a mandatory question that asked if I would care about dropping channels to change the price of cable. But I dont use the cable service and I dont have an opinion. The computer made me choose a random answer, but you should probably not count it since my answer doesnt mean anything. 342 please improve wifi on centennial and in hunt library 343 none 345 improve the customer service of the walk in center. Both my roommate and I have had to use the services and we were not at all happy with the promptness or the quality of help provided. 348 nope! 354 More consistent internet service. Im a senior and in the past three years Ive had no issues with internet connection. This year however, either in online gaming or in other services there are hiccups every 10 minutes or so. This is problematic more so in gaming but is overall an irritant. 361 None 369 N/A 374 The reason I havent used my room as much as I normally do is because the ethernet port on my laptop is broken. Are you all able to fix that here or would I need to take that to the Apple store to get it fixed? Overall, OIT does a great job; the biggest improvement could definitely be making sure students know about what is offered. 378 Why when connecting to the wifi in library or lobby of buildings on campus will I get "limited access" to the Internet for 15-30 minutes stretches of time? 382 -

page 187 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

385 no 388 high ping issues, consider fixing 392 N/a 396 none 398 No 399 none 402 NA 405 No 408 No 411 You should make the nomad device link page more accessible to students so they dont have to sign in every time they get on the internet. 412 no 413 n/a 414 no 417 n/a 425 N/A 428 Big comment: I love the SUPER fast internet: I love how freaking FAST resnet is. Seriously. Good job. Its also VERY reliable; Ive only had it go done 1 time during both the semesters that I have been here. And that down time was only a couple of hours. Seriously, great job on ResNet. 431 When hard lined I will experience random lag spikes, I know several others that experience this as well 435 Is it free for students with macs to obtain windows for their computer? If not, can it be? 436 no 442 No. 445 No 446 No 448 No. 457 Maybe OIT shouldnt take the internet in Daniels offline when classes have internet based tests scheduled there. 458 No I do not. 460 There was a question about paying $15 and receiving 20 automatic channels. Im not sure how that works compared to the current plan. If it means we pay $15 and only get 20 channels, I would like to know which channels first. Also there was a question about dropping some premium channels in favor in favor of lowering the cost of cable. However I havent had those premium channels at all this school year. I also havent had access to the Wolfpack sports channel. There were also a number of channels (maybe 3 or 4) that stopped working towards the end of the fall semester. One in particular is Tru Tv. It worked fine for the fall semester but now its just static. 462 really poor Internet connection in Alexander Hall if we are not located in the basement or near the central part of the building ... and we paid for this service! 464 No 467 Lots of good future ideas in the survey. Definitely consider implementing them all except providing class lecture videos online. That would promote students not attending or paying attention in class. 470 I contacted the ResNet people awhile back about getting another device on the ncsu internet so I dont have to constantly log on to the internet on my iPad, but they never got back to me. I tried calling and emailing and neither worked. 471 As a freshman, my experience with ResNet and Oit has been exceptionally well. On a scale of 1-10 I would say that you guys are a strong 9. 474 There should be wireless connection in every room. Also, even when I connect with an ethernet cable, I still get a very spotty connection. 475 Just implement sharepoint. 479 Never had any problems with ResNet and it certainly exceeded my expectations in speed and quality. 491 Nope. 494 na 497 Avent Ferrys internet connect can be spikey. When playing video games, lag that is unknown on other residence halls, happen quite frequently in Avent Ferry. 502 nope 503 No. 504 no 506 Make the rooms capable of handling more internet devices at once. Simply having to people in a room is almost 6 devices if they have a smart phone, tablet, and pc each, let alone if they get a wireless printer or have game consoles and at least 4 are running at any

page 188 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

given moment. 513 Wireless Internet in the dorm rooms would be fantastic! I would definitely pay an extra $25 to not have to worry about bringing my own router. 524 Dorm room wireless often only reaches the first and second floors. If the wireless devices were placed at the top of the building, the coverage would improve dramatically, and more people could use the wireless. 538 i love to watch TV, but cant afford the cable prices here. I only watch it before Im about to go to sleep & that isnt worth $400. 548 The redbox suggestion is an awesome idea, but thered have to be probably 1 for every residence hall, maybe more 549 No. 552 no 558 The dorms should have the same Internet type and speed as the academic buildings 561 None. Very straight-forward. 564 nope 565 No 567 nope 568 None. 570 nope 576 nope. pretty much everything was covered. 577 N/A 578 nah 589 No 590 No 592 Free loaner computers to students that did not buy their computers through NC State. 604 no 605 Please provide wireless internet in the rooms. 606 No. 613 no 617 NONE 619 Did I win the iPad mini? I really, really hope so! 622 I personally have not heard of the computer weekly so maybe you should bring that to the attention of students. 628 Am I sexy? 629 Nope 635 n/a 636 None 637 No. The Walk-in office is awesome. 639 no 640 n/a 642 No. 643 nope 645 The internet connection this year has been atrocious, even in places where youd think the connection would work, such as the D.H. Hill library. I dont know what made the internet connection this year so bad compared to my last two years here, but its gotta be fixed! 651 Will anything be added or changed around campus with the results of the survey? If so, what? 659 Overall, the biggest strength is that the internet is remarkably fast considering the sheer load of the number of students here and fairly reliable, however it does occasionally drop my devices connection and it was difficult to get a reliable connection to the nomad system at the beginning of the year. 660 I think that there shouldnt be a mandatory cable fee. Internet is something that we all absolutely nee for school. TV is a luxury that a lot of people may not use at all, so why should they help pay for it? 662 The ranking question for software does not work on mobile. You would think a tech survey would do a better job of that... 664 I would really encourage making internet wireless. 668 n/a 672 N/A 673 Have wireless internet access throughout campus, not just in the buildings. 679 Often the internet, whether in my dorm room while hooked up to the ResNet port, or in Bagwell Halls lobby, hooked up to the ncsu wireless network, there will often be times of lag, where the internet will just glitch for a few seconds, and this happens frequently 683 ResNet does have some issues with the internet. I notice it when I play my playstation. The problem is that there is some kind of weird jerk or lag that happens when I play sometimes.

Its rare, but when it happens it can be really frustrating. 689 no 697 none 705 Cable really needs to be cheaper and more affordable. There also should be an option to split the charge equally if you share a room with someone. 706 no 707 no 715 Wireless internet in dorm rooms without having to buy a router would be nice. 716 NA 721 The inconsistency of cable television on campus is often rather frustrating. Unexpectedly, I lose access to certain channels and I never receive an explanation or apology for outages. 724 The cable does not have all the channels that it is suppose to have( like True TV) it would be nice if we had them back in the fall, especially since cable cost so much. Also, the Premium Channels are good!!! 726 Keep it up! Yall are doing a great job. Thanks so much! 728 None 729 no 733 NEEDS MOAR BANDWIDTH!!!! 742 The question about providing recorded lectures depends greatly on the class itself and is hard to generalize. 743 I feel like some of the questions are not related to ResNet or OIT. 748 more upload speed! 761 N/A 766 Nope. 769 no 774 none 776 I would rather not the housing cost rise for cable and internet access. It would hinder students learning and for those that do not use the service it is just extra money. 777 I 778 No 781 none 784 None 793 Wi-Fi should be available anywhere on campus 798 None. 809 n/a 810 No 811 N/A 813 No. 817 the virtual computing lab is really cool but kinda hard to use 824 the walk in helps 837 None 839 Become more involved with the students. Show that you are on campus.. Even if that means giving away nothing but free buttons then do it. 842 Nope. 853 none 855 HEat 856 n/a 861 Wireless internet in residence hall rooms would be extremely helpful 864 NA 866 Nope 871 N/A 872 Thanks for your help! 874 I dont know if you have one, but it would be nice to have a webpage where you can submit internet downtime complaints. There have been several times this past year where I have had shoddy internet connection, or none at all, at a few different places on repeated occasions. 875 No. 876 No 877 N/A 878 Make ResNet more consistent on access. Sometimes I can easily access it, other times it randomly disconnects. 880 Keep up the good work 885 Nope 888 Nope, thank you. 911 Network sockets on both sides of the dorm room so cables do not have to be everywhere

all year. 913 No 914 I do not use to OIT help/repair service because I have had friends take their laptops in and then be given back with applications, photos and files erased. I am not willing to sacrifice any of my content so I am more inclined to go somewhere office campus for help, like the apple store. 921 no 922 N/A 924 None 933 None 934 I think the question about the automatic 20-channel cable depends on the 20 channels 937 Nope 947 NO 949 none 953 Netflix frequently drops and I lose my connection to Xbox Live when streaming. I didnt research to see if it was an issue with my router, but it was very annoying and if there are other reports indicating a widespread network issue then it would be great if this could be remedied. 959 No. 962 No 965 nope 966 N/A 979 Occasionally, maybe every 20 minutes or so, my internet lags heavily for a second or two. This may seem like nothing, but for activities that require a constant connection, like gaming, its noticeable every single time it happens. 986 n/a 987 I like the campus internet access. The only time I couldnt access internet when I wanted to was sitting outside my dorm. 990 How do I find more information about all that NC State has to offer dealing with technology? 992 Why is the internet so bad? The bandwidth is very intermittent when playing online games that require a good connection. One second it will be great, and the next it will be horrible. 995 None 997 Good service 998 Suggest filling in cable channels that were dropped like Golf Channel and TruTv 999 None 1004 No further comments, questions or suggestions. 1006 Nope. 1007 On the NCSU internet there is a period about every 5 minutes where my friends and I experience packet dropping for about 10 seconds. So I would like that issue to be fixed. 1008 While playing online games, there are times (every five to ten minutes) when the games connection lags out(We call this the "NCSU Lag Spike"). This sometimes happens while streaming HD videos. 1012 Dont put Wifi in all the rooms, I already bought a router. Dont give all the students Maple, only engineers use it and it would be a waste of lots of students money to pay for a program theyd never use. 1013 GET MORE WIRELESS AROUND CAMPUS IN GENERAL :) 1014 Some people do not like that we have to have our own router or ethernet cable, but I think its better than getting wifi where it could be slower since everyone would be using it. 1015 None 1016 NA 1021 none 1024 NA 1032 No 1033 Thanks for the hard work! 1034 Not at the time 1038 Why does my cable go to static every so often for about 2 seconds? 1048 N/A 1052 No 1054 No suggestions or questions 1063 It would be helpful if you could work on HP computers at the OIT office 1064 no 1065 n/a 1069 idk 1071 Fix the Wifi.

1073 no opinion 1074 The Nomad System is terribly slow and difficult to keep a connection with. 1075 I have been searching for a job since the start of my freshman year and have not been able to get one. I have applied for several positions, but my qualifications were not suitable for that job. I have a strong belief that I would be a good fit working for ResNet/ Office of Information Technology. 1077 No. 1078 n/a 1079 Why does the ping to external servers jump high for roughly 5~15s every quarter hour or so? 1082 No 1084 Yall good. 1085 redbox 1089 -Automatic connecting of devices should be continued while on campus if you set it up. Saves time when in a hurry. 1093 Nope. 1097 No 1098 N/A 1100 i think they should offer more wifi around campus like in the residence halls so that we dont have to have cords or a router. 1101 Provide Matlab to applied math majors. that would be GREAT! b/c in two of my classes I need to use Matlab for programming. 1104 No. 1105 I thought the survey asked some very good questions. 1118 I think, so far, everything is fantastic! 1120 GET THE INTERNET IN HUNT LIBRARY TO NOT SUCK HALF THE TIME. ty 1121 there are 2 in room ethernet jacks and only one of them work for everywhere ive been can we be more educated about why that is? 1123 No. 1127 WHY WAS IT NECESSARY TO ASK ABOUT WHAT THE CELL PHONE WAS USED FOR? 1131 I wish NC States wireless network would always remain connected on my phone so i dont have to constantly keep logging back in. 1132 no. 1134 Nope! 1135 nope 1137 N/A 1138 The internet connections in dorms is often unreliable. Will lose connection randomly for a few minutes at a time, happens once or twice a week. Needs to be fixed. 1147 Make it so we dont have to keep signing in when we leave one location on campus to another. 1151 N/A 1153 Please fix the Internet on Centennial. Weve had the Internet go out in EBIII practically every hour for about 2-10 minutes each occurrence. This is a dire need because it ruins productivity and wastes staff and students time. 1154 Why has the internet been slower this semester than it was last semester? 1159 No questions. 1162 Nope 1164 No 1172 None. 1177 you provide a service to the srudents of nc state. I wouldd focus more on quality as opposed to cost if i were you. its not like the school doesnt get the allocations for it. 1180 THE COLOR SCHEME OF THIS SURVEY IS AWFUL. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. 1181 Its weird when all of my professors are using campus course websites but theyre all in different places (moodle, courses.ncsu.edu, not even sure what the third one is but its another ncsu course webpage thing) 1183 When I had problem connecting via ResNet in my room, I asked the services I could get from the building handling this problem, but it took more than three weeks, so I had to only use one of the two hole , please work for students fast ! 1185 Stop dropping my packets. 1190 It takes 10-20 minutes to connect a mac computer to the wireless internet inn . 1191 None 1195 Some of the questions on this survey really concerned me.

page 192 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

1. The question about N.C. State not currently offering wireless services in dorm rooms. They actually do, at least in the two halls I have lived in. In Gold, I would have rather had a wired connection. The wireless connection would stop randomly and there was no solution to the problem besides waiting. The connection was also slow. I would much rather have had a solid wired connection.

2. Not every person watches cable. Not every person has a TV in their room. It would be entirely unfair to levy a mandatory charge on everybody for cable, even if it was a reduced cost. $100 for 3-4 months of cable is reasonable, and if a student absolutely needs their TV while studying, then they should be willing to pay a fair price for it. If you need more money, then charge the students who want cable more. Dont make others pay for it. 1200 None 1202 No I do not. 1205 No 1206 Wireless Internet service should be provided in ALL dorms on campus! I would pay more to have it rather than using Ethernet cords. 1207 N/A 1214 No 1220 No 1225 nope 1232 The OIT websites list of approved antivirus software is woefully outdated and mistaken; when I went to the Office to ask about software option, I was told by staff members to simply ignore the lists online and go with whatever I wanted to. This level of customer service produces a negative reputation of the office, and the lack of frequent updates to policies and standards reinforces this reputation, especially since "Information Technology" is a part of the offices name. If the resources available were made more user-friendly and kept up-to-date, I feel the office would gain a stronger reputation and students would see it for its usefulness, not its inconveniences.

ID Response 3 become more present on campus. When giving surveys, dont ask irrelevant questions about my phone plan and things of that manner. 4 Wireless is an important information technology that I would like to see at ncsu. To have a building with no wireless access (wolf village) is crazy to me-especially in this day and age and at this school. 6 To have better access to know who to call when my internet access is down and I cant get online to find the number. 7 Better Internet in Greek village; it goes in and out constantly 13 Nothing 17 Making wifi available in rooms 20 wireless internet in the dorms 21 Improved connection stability. While the connection is fine for "mundane" uses, its rarely, if ever, stable enough for uninterrupted use in games. I tried having OIT check it out last semester and they said they didnt have any issues. There are certainly issues. 22 Im fairly pleased with it so far. 25 Dont have anything. 26 Better wireless coverage in the outdoor spaces such as outside Tucker and Owen. 30 Internet service and phone signal in the atrium 35 N/A 36 Wifi would be much easier and more convenient. 38 faster internet on thedesktops 39 none 40 n/a 42 None 43 Decreased latency in ResNet 44 increase visibility of services 45 get a better wifi signal 47 none 49 None 50 Higher internet speed. 54 I would enjoy WiFi in the form rooms 55 Sometimes the wireless stops working and that can be frustrating! Especially parts of DH Hill 56 faster wifi speeds 57 Gigabit connection. 58 N/A 64 Making the services more publicized on campus, putting the technology help office in a better, more popular area 66 Cheaper Printing 68 provide wireless internet do bragaw hall. other dorms can connect to the ncsu wifi but from bragaw everyone has to either plug into the wall or use a router which sometimes causes problems. 70 none 71 Free Website design clinic, especially for Orgsync 73 It is hard to stay ahead of the technology curve, but I think one thing that NC State could really benefit from investing in new networking development. Maybe networking and computer science research could bring new things to our campus that students can try first before it comes to the market. who knows.... 75 High speed internet in dorm rooms 80 Not having to log on to Internet every time page 194 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

83 1) Tell students about Tracster. 2) Tell students about tutorial centers (for Maple, etc.) 84 Better wifi 86 More reliable WIFI connections 88 None 96 Wifi connectivity is almost extensive. 101 Have internet in the residence halls 103 Have some cool workshops that would inquire student interaction to make some of your services shown and show off some neat things. 109 N/A 110 Definitely add wireless to the dorm rooms. And also maybe a chat line for people who are having trouble with the network. 112 No changes! 119 Nothing! 120 First, it would be useful if ResNet allowed you to establish CNAMEs for servers that live in a dorm. Second, the Eos lab and server environments should be updated with newer versions of programming languages etc. - this wouldnt affect me as much since I can build my own software, but it would help others. 121 No opinion 122 Wifi in the residence halls, recorded lectures 125 It would be helpful, if I had a problem with my Linux system, to be able to speak with people that had actually heard of Linux before. Not experts mind you, but at least a working familiarity... 128 More publicity, it seems like you have a lot to offer the student body but not that many people realize it. 132 Make VCL a tad easier to use and available outside of NCSU network! My experience so far with information tech has been very solid. 137 n/a 139 Room wifi 143 N/A 147 To do maintainance PC constantly. 149 Friendlier help desk employees. 151 None 154 Make the internet even faster 157 None 159 Wireless accessible anywhere on campus 160 Have the Internet fucking working at all times, it is extremely frustrating when Nomad system wont be working or Resnet blacks out. We pay for this shit so it should work at all times. 161 More information about where, who, and when to take your computer to when you need software or hardware checked out. 162 Having internet in the dorm rooms. 165 More reliable internet/wireless. Since switch to new provider its been spotty. Also, OIT provided wifi would be nice in dorms so that there arent 50 routers causing interference over one another. 166 I would like to see better connectivity with the Google Chromebook. While other devices connect almost immediately, the Chromebook can sometimes take up to fifteen minutes to connect to the wireless internet available on campus. 168 None 170 Wireless internet in all buildings 174 Informing us of different amenities. Not requiring routers for wireless internet because when everyone has routers the signals get confused and my ip address is often assume when i have not ised my internet in a while. It also causes a lot of anxiety when the router is not working. 175 Making more of their services known 178 No,ad wireless around the campus, not only in buildings 179 More marketing and promotion about technology resources available to NC State Students. 180 Cheaper printing 181 offer everyone a PDF e-reader, which will be very helpful for our eyes. 186 Better wireless on campus, when it goes out for many hours at a time that is a huge inconvenience for us students trying to turn in our work online. 191 The price. 192 Faster Internet connect on resnet 193 n/a

page 195 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

194 Better internet access in buildings around campus, not just dorms. 195 Recently the wireless has been really slow. When it is slow and I am expecting an email it is hard to check my email on my phone. 197 Free wifi in the dorms 202 One website that listed and had access to all of the technology at NC State. A more compact website rather than several different websites would make my time more efficient. 204 software that can be downloaded and doesnt need a license, we can keep it once we leave 207 The wireless network periodically goes down. Its never out for more than around 20 minutes, but it is a nuisance as almost all of my homework is online. 208 GET HD CABLE ALREADY! 212 For my needs I do not really need any hi-tech stuff but if there is somethign that I can obtain and that it will be a great product then I am for it. 218 PLEASE buy extra routers for the library. The system is constantly overloaded and students are penalized if they lose Internet connection while taking quizzes. 219 I would like wireless internet in the dorms, but not if it would cost me more. 222 Wireless in my room and in dorms/halls 224 wireless internet in the dorms 225 Improve the Wifi at Hunt library. 227 I strongly believe that the OIT Walk-In help center needs work. I went there to have a problem with my computer looked at and the person that I was assigned to was extremely rude and would not even look at my computer. I took the time out of my day to go to see if they could help with my computer problem and they could not even be bothered. I really do not want my student fees going towards this if this is the type of service that is being provided. On top of that I filled out a survey on my visit earlier and in it it asked if I wanted to be contacted by a manager. I selected yes, however I was never contacted, and I never knew who to contact again. 228 stronger campus wide internet connection 229 Better wi-fi. Half of the time I went to the library, I couldnt get onto the internet and had to leave, wasting a lot of time walking back and forth. 231 The internet not constantly going out in Riddick. 234 The internet needs to work better. I have lost information and lost quizzes multiple times because the wireless always drops this year... 237 Wireless internet in the rooms. Raffles for microsoft office 238 Make more textbooks available online. It seems like it would be cheaper for the school to buy a license to put a book online than for thousands of students to buy them over time. 239 Steady wireless connection. Was really shoddy compared to last year. Disregard for piracy laws: I know you arent going to do it, but its really a shame with such fast connection speeds. 240 Printing in each hall, and more consistent internet access in rooms 244 Better internet connection in Hunt 249 Wi-fi coverage in some of the buildings needs to be a little bit better 251 free cable 252 Nothing. 253 Less wireless drops. Its frustrating when using in the library and it drops. But overall we probably have some of the best internet at a university. 255 Recorded lecture tools do not always function properly; sometimes, you cannot skip to the middle of a previously-started lecture; other times, portions of the visual content freeze while the audio continues 259 Snail slow login/access times on computers owned by NCSU. It should not take me six whole minutes to access my unity account. Its not very progressive... Or indicative if my schools technological capability. 263 Stop blocking ports. Especially RDP, SMB 264 Wifi in residence hall bedrooms. Online time sheets for employees of the university. 268 better wireless internet throughout all campus. 269 online time sheets and a larger server to avoid crashes 270 Easier access via iPhone to my pack portal 272 The Wolfpack Portal. It is the most confusing site I have ever tried to navigate. And none of the other NC State sites are up to date on the sites layout when describing how to get somewhere 275 Better availability of services 277 Everything is fine 280 Not charge for Internet in separate rooms. Rather charge groups of people. This should go for cable tv as well 281 A consistent Internet connection

page 196 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

283 Less reliance on maple and webassign 286 Nothing everything is good 288 Wireless internet in the room. 291 My ResNet port didnt work; work orders to fix it were ignored. 293 Get a mobile app for Moodle. Make MyPack portal website access not kick you off when you open two pages, eg. allow for the degree audit to be open while searching for/ signing up for classes. 297 none 302 Wireless Internet at wolf village 303 Maybe help tutorials for programs the campus wants students to use (ex. Maple, Solidworks, etc.) 304 Better connection to wifi 306 Make scheduling smartphone-friendly 308 Have the Golf Channel in the cable lineup 310 Improve the wireless access around campus, particularly on Centennial and in the buildings. There are many dead spots in the engineering buildings. 312 Having Microsoft Office added would be nice. Or an in dorm printer for the whole building. 315 Change some of the licensing for software. Specifically Matlab, the current license is a pain to deal with when you have multiple computers. And the linux .deb file is broken. The sym links do not work correctly. 316 Better wifi connection throughout D H Hill. My computer gets dropped alot there. Also better ncsu wifi connection and speed in Sullivan hall 323 Providing video/audio of lectures 325 I think that Wireless internet should be provided in Residence Hall Rooms. 326 Faster Internet service. 329 Internet stop dropping in library 330 There are random, often hindering lag spikes, when playing video games. While not a issue in terms of doing work often, these lag spikes are often annoying while playing games and completely frustrating if I am trying to actually do school work. 337 Wifi in more places with less crashes 338 the wireless on campus goes in and out. 339 I am not always confident any more that the wireless internet will work properly around campus. I have had a lot of trouble with it this year that I havent had previous years. 342 More access to complex software for all platforms; more free tutorial classes for certain technology skills 343 none 348 Maybe make the virtual lab a bit more user friendly and easy to use. 352 Promote what is offered so more students know about it and can benefit from it. 360 The one thing I would change would be to make sure that the wifi doesnt drop as often, especially in the library. There have been multiple occasions where I have been working online for an assignment and the internet randomly goes out. 361 None 369 N/A 370 Better virus protection, i have one 374 I would like Wi-Fi in my room. Access to more journals, but I know the library is the one that buys those, so I guess it doesnt actually apply here. 375 Fix the wifi in Hunt Library. My computer wont always connect to it and when it does, itll drop the wifi and wont reconnect for a while, making it really frustrating to attempt to do homework. 378 Wifi at wolf village. 382 Probably just work to make the internet connection more consistent. Sometimes it just stops. Also, there is no wireless here at Avent Ferry. 383 Videos of class lectures. 385 better wifi 388 decrease ping/lag spikes better methods of informing students of the status of on campus internet 391 Moodle App, Wireless in rooms 392 N/a 396 sometimes the internet goes down and causes me some issues, so if it was more reliable that might help 398 Wifi in all dorms 399 no opinion 402 A better way to publish grades 405 Faster internet 406 Wireless in the rooms

page 197 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

408 One thing would be a better wireless connection in the rooms, especially when many others are using the same network. 411 The log in pages for each service should log you into all the services at once instead of having to log into each one individually. For example, Webassign, webapps, Maple, and class pages. 412 price of resnet, and more information about IT during the year 413 Sometimes the server is down and that could be something to work on. 414 If I could just get cell service all over campus it would be nice. 417 It would be nice to have free cable. We kick out a lot of money to attend this school, and yet we do not have free cable like the majority of the 4 year institutes in . Giving us free cable will take away from the pain of buying other services such as Netflix and Hulu, and it would lessen (if not stop) the illegal act of movie/show downloading. 424 I would like wifi in my room. I live on the tenth floor of carroll and theres no way for me to get internet without a cord. 425 Better Internet Access 428 Overall, I cant thin of anything; you guys do a great job with the tech. I would like to see more teachers using technology in the classrooms though. But, Im under the impression that, in most cases, the teachers COULD use technology to teach, they just choose not to. Nothing OIT can do about that. 429 Free access to course materials from other classes, so that if you miss your class you could look up your professor or another professors class in the same course perhaps this would also help clarify information for some students who need to hear someone explain a concept a different way 431 redue wolfprint to make it more user friendly like it was last year 433 Wifi provided in all resident hall rooms 435 The Internet in the room is really slow sometimes. 436 price better promoting, making everyone aware of all the stuff they offer 440 The log in pages for each service should log you into all the services at once instead of having to log into each one individually. For example, Webassign, webapps, Maple, and class pages. 442 The nc state websites are ridiculously hard to use. I wanted to apply to be a lifeguard and I still cannot find the application form. Making the web system more user friendly would be at the top of the list for needed improvements. 445 informative emails 446 You have only one router in the silent room... Lets be real here.. Its not handling all the computers connected to it when the room is full. It bumps ppl off 447 a simpler way of registering devices so you dont always have to log in, i know it exists but it does not work all the time and its hard to sign in on an iphone screen 448 No opinion. 449 Web-help chatrooms. 451 Wifi (especially in Hunt Library) need to be more consistent In many cases, the wifi cuts out, which is very inconvenient particularly during a VCL session.

It could be a licensing issue, but it would be nice to have programs like Matlab to be able to be downloaded on more than one computer (laptop and desktop for example). 455 Seamless wireless internet all across main campus 458 I wouldnt change anything for the time being. 460 I really like the new printing in Hunt Library where you swipe your card at the printer you wish to use and I would like to see that in other places on campus. Also if I were to save a document on a computer in D.H. Hill I would like to be able to access it somewhere else, like Avent Ferry computer lab. In high school we used Citrix. At home we could download the Citrix app and once we opened the app, everything we did at school was available for us to do at home. I would like a central location to save all my documents so I dont have to go back and visit a specific lab if I forget to save my work to a USB. 461 improve internet speed 464 Printing 466 Better connectivity to the Nomad service. I have problems connecting to it sometimes. 467 Not cater so much to people with iPhones and Smartphones. It is very difficult to live on campus without one. 470 More consistent internet. 471 Online timesheets 472 More consistent wireless service 475 Nothing 479 Greater wireless range and strength of the NCSU system.

page 198 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

483 Receiving connection in my room 484 More wireless hotspots around the streets/walkways. 491 To be able to get the NC State internet access in my dorm room, to be able to use Maple on my laptop for free (or at least without being charged a ridiculous amount of money). 492 I would make campus-wide wifi campus-wide. I keep my 3G off because I use wifi, but there are some places on campus that dont have wifi 494 na 500 Video taped classes to be put online 501 Better internet at library 502 charge 503 Too much packet loss 504 not sure 506 Fixing wolfprint so thay its easier to use and you can simply add money through mypack. 513 Record more classes and post them online. 515 lowering cable price 522 Microsoft Office for free or GREATLY reduced price Increase VCL awareness 524 No opinion. 529 Wireless Internet in Dorms 547 Adding text alerts about OIT updates. 548 n/a 549 I would like more information sessions. I had no idea half of these services existed. 552 no opinion 556 The wifi crashes sometimes and gives me a "gateway error" really annoying when doing homework 557 Consolidate Moodle and teacher web pages or the courses.ncsu site. 558 Better internet service at Wolf Village, sometimes the Internet will randomly cut off. I never had this trouble at the other places I loved on campus. 561 The information center is very useful. Fast working internet everywhere on campus, and helpful and useful websites for even the smallest questions. The only thing that I would like to see before I graduate would be an application for the school. One with all events, menus, buses, etc. I think this would be pretty cool since many schools around the area do not have an app. 562 Less lag over the resnet 564 more advertising to know whats avaliable 565 Printing double sided should cost less because it uses less paper and is more environmentally friendly. 567 idk 568 I would want WebAssign to be free because I do not agree with having to pay for doing homework and I would want wireless internet in all residence halls available. 570 wireless in residence halls instead of having to use ethernet cables 573 Improve consistency of internet connection in dorms. 576 none that i can think of 577 I am satisfied with the experience. 578 cant log onto every computer, so if that was fixed. 581 Wireless internet in my room and improve the wireless internet outside (sitting outside of Lee and Sullivan) 583 - More accessible of wireless in campus because at some places in the campus, I cannot even get wireless at all. 584 Consistent Wireless in the Dorms of Bragaw Access to download all Required Software through NCSU. i.e. solidworks for gc 120 even if your not an engineer, its required but not provided (very expensive per student) 586 More free software. 589 N/A 590 Nothing to change 591 Better wireless internet in the residence halls. More importantly though, better wireless service in the Hunt Library (it fails about once an hour, requiring you to disconnect and reconnect). 592 Free loaner computers to students that did not buy their computers through NC State. 599 enable all of the google apps on the ncsu gmail accounts better wifi throughout campus 604 n/a 605 Make it easier to be automatically logged into the wireless so I wont have to sign in every 10 minutes or every time I switch locations on campus.

606 NC State should better inform people of every available technology for students. 610 Different cable plans and free wifi in dorms 613 no opinion 615 Wireless internet available in my dorm room. 617 NONE 618 More reliable wireless access in D. H. Hill and Hunt Libraries. 619 I WANT HD CABLE TELEVISION IN MY DORM ROOM!!! I mean, seriously, whats the point in having HBO and all the other deluxe channels if I cant watch their broadcasts in HD?? 622 Overall I was very pleased with OIT. 628 More reliable internet connection. 629 They advertise their technology more, so students know about it. 632 More quiet areas in D.H. Hill library; the section with all of the computers is usually extremely loud with people playing video games and such. 635 n/a 636 Dont know. 637 N/A 639 make cable and internet cheaper 640 wireless internet in dorms 642 A good time table for the buses, or stop having them sit at places for double digit minutes. 643 More software 645 Having the internet connection be reliable at ALL times! Especially in the afternoons and especially in areas where we work (including the D.H. Hill Library). 646 Have kiosks that list wolfline bus locations at all times somewhere near major bus stops on campus. 651 A short, but informative email about the technology at NC State every month would be useful for students, especially entering freshman. 659 Anything that makes electronic homework easier and less tedious. Ask any student about webassign, moodle, or maple and watch them grimace if you need more information.

Also, whiteboards are better than document projectors for anything being written during class. Document projectors and regular projectors are better when projecting something pre-made. The exception to this is transparency projectors. Projectors with a scrollable clear plastic screen that professors can write on are as good as whiteboards. 662 MAKE IT SO THE FREAKING NCSU WIFI ON CAMPUS WORKS. Whole reason I took this survey. This entire year it has been so spotty and unreliable if anything at all and I know Im not the only one complaining. Last year ir was great and then you guys messed it up. Please fix!!! It prevents me from getting work done a lot of times. 664 Make the printing easier to understand. 667 better wireless printing, sometime didnt work correctly at Wolf Village 668 n/a 670 Please make the wifi in Hunt work. Please. 672 The internet works and my router works; Im happy. 673 Fix all computer problems of nc state students, not just the ones who bought computers through the bookstore. 674 More stable internet connections 677 Make the network stronger so that I wont lose connection while doing Maple or other homework. 678 I would like to have wifi access across campus. There are several locations where wifi is not available, or where signal strength is low. 680 more reliable internet. Internet in lounges in residence halls barely works, sometimes not at all 683 no 689 information boards in the residents halls they take forever to cycle through and are often down, so you dont get a chance to see the information. other then that you do a great job 691 Increase internet speeds. More frequent computer lab upgrades. 694 Condense Moodle and courses.ncsu.edu and course lockers to just be one. It is so confusing to have to guess where my grades and info will be posted at. 696 The wireless connection in various spots - especially the D.H. Hill library tends to go out and in every once in a while. ...an annoying occurrence but overall the service is great so I really cant complain 697 Accessibility to technology and lower costs 705 I have been at the library before when the internet just went out for several hours. Very annoying when trying to do school work. So more reliability. 706 Better wifi coverage in academic buildings

713 larger Bandwith. 714 Have faster internet, provide information about the best wireless routers. 715 The Windows computers in DH Hill are terrible. Theyre slow, and constantly crash. I think spending less on the frivolous and unnecessary Macs and more on utilitarian Windows computers would be a good idea. 716 Not having to sign in every ten minutes on my E-pad and other internet devices. Wireless internet in the rooms. 720 Advertise the classes you offer, and explain what antivirus is for dummies 726 N/A They work well for me already to the best of what I need! 727 -Half of the time, the library computers do not work -When first moving in, my ResNet did not work for two weeks -Is it really necessary to itemize the ResNet charge - why can it not just be included? 728 Touch screen of up coming events at the bottom of residence halls. 729 charge me less 733 NEEDS MOAR BAND-WIDTH!!!! 740 More knowledge about the services available. 742 Everything works fine. 743 There are access problems all over the first floor of Burlington Nuclear Engineering Lab. Fixing those would make work much better. 751 Internet in the gym. 756 Higher wifi speed. 761 I would change having access to facebook and other media sites. Its really my problem so I need to change my habits of habitually checking the site. 762 none 766 Better connection. 767 Often times, the wireless internet does not work around campus or the page will not come up for me to sign in. 769 i would not change anything 774 Availability of wifi 776 none 778 Online lectures from each class. sign in to watch them incase of sick or didnt understand the first time. 781 nothing in mind 784 None 786 More stable internet connection 787 WiFi on buses! 789 I would like to be better informed of what OIT offers here. 793 Wi-Fi connection everywhere 798 Better connection to wifi. 801 Take the hunt library off a server the windows computers lag! 802 add wifi to more buildings. and to also make the existing wifi more reliable 803 More student access to software 809 better campus wide wifi 810 The WiFi is horrible. 811 this year I would change the wireless internet, it was really bad service. 813 I cannot specify something to change. 816 Gigabit at least between the rooms in a residence hall / building in wolf village 817 wireless internet available in all rooms (without router being necessary) 818 WiFi in the atrium and cell service inside Poe Hall 824 wireless in the bedroom 832 Allow students to set up virtual servers on the state network. Provide classes for different technologies and software. 833 Sometimes the internet in the library gets very slow. 837 Faster wireless internet 839 Stop having the internet go out during the day 841 better/faster tech and computer tech repair. more stable and constant internet conection 842 No clue. 849 Waaaayyyy better Internet connection everywhere. 850 Provide laptop services with insurance to students. Provide online recordings of class lectures for a majority if not all classes. 853 more compatibility with macs 855 HeatyyHeat 856 n/a 860 Great job guys! 864 NA

866 No idea 871 Wolf alerts should appear in texts and emails faster. 872 Access around campus 874 Wifi in the dorms, or at least common areas. 875 The WiFi cuts in and out a lot in the dorm lounges. Itd be nice if I could consistently to homework in there without interruption. 876 More reliable internet (it likes to just go out sometimes) 877 The NCSU WiFi connection is often spotty at best, and I would like to see that improved because I often use the NCSU connection to study and do homework. 883 Wifi in the dorms instead of ethernet 885 Offering downloadable podcasts or videos of lectures and lowering the printing cost for school related projects. 888 Add computers to the Syme lounge. 891 More how-to information on the current IT options available 913 Better discounts on student software like Microsoft office 919 wifi everywhere 920 the cheaper cable would be great 921 Have wireless in more places 922 N/A 924 None 928 Much faster internet connection. Its the most used feature and not very fast. 931 If both roommates are using the internet it goes slow so I would like the speed to increase. 933 Video record class lectures! 934 Free student software for personal laptops (Not sure if this is possible- if one can move around campus without disconnecting from ncsu wifi to connect at every building) 936 video record class lectures 937 Better Internet Connection 942 For gaming on the ethernet service provided, I would say that the connection speed is often far too slow, even for relatively low-quality games. 947 NONE 949 An ability to have E-book of the books at the library. Have an E-book that last 4 hours or 1 week until renewed. 953 Webassign/Moodle calendar integration into Google Calendars. 955 Wireless Resnet in rooms 959 Less spam FROM the actual school 960 Allow programs that have to be used for classes to be installed on lab computers 962 A walk in center for student computers at the libraries instead of a separate not so well know building as is currently the set up. 964 Wireless in the dorm rooms. 965 free netflix 966 Make it easier to learn about all the apps that NCSU has 967 We need better wireless connection around campus. 970 Hd channels, better cell reception, and faster internet. 979 Dont Know 980 More/stronger wifi hotspots Red Hat computers in the library (bootloader option) 983 Wifi in the dorm rooms. 984 I would have liked to know about different computing services that are available across campus. 986 more videos of lectures available to students 990 no opinion 991 -Wifi in rooms -have ALL classes post grades online 992 Cannot think of anything 995 None 997 More ethernet or access points on campus. 998 Faster Wifi speeds around campus 999 To have a more consistent Internet connection throughout campus 1000 More programs that students could download free. 1004 Higher speed and 100% reliable WIRELESS internet access in dorm rooms and dorm buildings. 1006 Make the wireless signal better in Hunt Library and EBIII. 1007 On the NCSU internet there is a period about every 5 minutes where my friends and I experience packet dropping for about 10 seconds. So I would like that issue to be fixed.

page 202 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

1008 More consistent internet connection(i.e. no packet drops). 1011 Be able to handle more wireless load in EBII. Our C class would bring down Internet for a fourth of the building when we all tried to get on the Internet. 1012 Making WebAssign free. After all, the site was created at NC State, why not make it free for NCSU students? And by free, I dont mean just tack it in with student fees-theyre high enough already. I mean actually 100% free. 1013 MORE WIRELESS IN ROOM AND ON CAMPUS 1014 I wish I would have known that we needed a router or ethernet cable before I got here, because I went a few weeks without a router, so I had to go to the library or computer labs. 1015 I would get wireless internet in my dorm room. 1016 A lot of the time I have trouble connecting to the wifi. 1021 nothing 1024 Give Microsoft office for free 1032 Better access to wireless internet in on-campus buildings and surrounding areas. 1033 Instructional videos on setting up routers for first-timers. 1034 More access to Wi-fi 1038 Faster internet because it seems like there are times when it can be really slow. 1040 Getting wireless internet in Wolf Village rooms. 1047 ResNet wireless service in all rooms. 1048 N/A 1052 Wireless Internet throughout the dorms, cheaper/free cable 1053 The cost of cable should be available to split instead on person having to get it... 1054 Wireless internet everywhere would be helpful. 1058 Computers that block distracting websites. 1061 The wi-fi that I get on my phone is often unreliable. The cable TV price is extremely high, I would be in favor of having a lower price for the basic channels and an upgrade option if people so desired. 1064 Wireless Internet in dorm rooms 1065 Nothing I can think of at the moment. 1069 idk 1071 Make the Wifi work better and stop cutting out as much. 1072 Stop using trend micro. Really bloated. 1073 better internet connection in my sorority house 1075 I thinking having high speed wireless internet and full coverage for all the major carriers all over campus would be really helpful because the Wifi and phone service is spotty in some areas on campus especially the residencial halls and some areas in the library. 1077 Make sure course.ncsu.edu does not go down the week of exams. 1078 Provide more online resources geared towards college students for a discounted price. 1082 At wolf village allow students to get basic cable in individual rooms since its a mandatory fee for the common room anyway 1084 Yall good 1085 redbox 1086 broadcasted a little better about what they offer 1088 Working printers in every dorm 1089 More channels. Ive paid for cable every year that Ive been here, but only for a few channels that I actually like. 1093 n/a 1094 Provision of PDF editing software would be the most helpful, or at least an allowance for the printing of non pdf files through the printing service. 1097 Improved internet speed throughout Greek Village. It is very slow here compared to other residence halls. 1098 Make recorded course content viewable online. 1099 -all classes made audio content available to students after class 1100 i wish they told us more about it at orientation. i know my mom went through a class on learning information but i didnt and i think it would have been helpful. 1101 Better wifi! Some of the places in the DH Hill library is really slow and something it wouldnt connect my laptop to the wifi. And Sullivan hall as well! Actually Wolf Village internet connection is iffy too. Every time I use the internet in any of these places, the internet doesnt load or it just really slow loading. When I go back to my home, my computer is fast and theres no need to wait as long. 1104 There isnt much I would change, I like the simplicity but current ways of doing things here at NCSU. 1111 More lending at the library 1113 As much as people hate to say it or hear it, I think that having cable in the dorm rooms hinders many peoples ability to succeed academically, and I dont think it should be a

page 203 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

feature that students get just by moving in (in contrast, particularly, to the earlier question about charging $20 for basic cable). 1118 Nothing that I know of. 1120 nothing tech here is top tier 1121 keeping better tabs on EOS labs and unity labs, especially making sure these computers can access K and J drives (Especially in DS weaver labs) 1123 More study rooms with working tvs that have a HDMI connector. 1125 none 1127 ONLINE VIDEO STREAMING SERVICES CAMPUS WIDE. 1131 Cheaper and robot fights. 1132 Live Chat on website so that we wouldnt have to walk to West Dunn. 1134 Not sure what you mean. 1135 NA 1137 N/A 1141 Greater coverage with ResNet. Use of Foursquare by NCSU to promote campus events. 1143 Increasing internet speed. 1147 Faster internet in Avent ferry Using something other than moodle, and making sure that all the teachers use it and are aware of how to use the software. 1148 Lectures and/or notes available online for every professor. 1149 making the software that is available to students more well known 1150 Better wireless internet signals on campus; Sometimes apple products wont connect. 1151 N/A 1153 Faster Internet. Sometimes its not so fast. This year in particular has been the worst, both in my dorm and also on Centennial campus. But especially on Centennial campus. 1156 Consistency! It would be nice to have consistent wireless internet and cable in the dorm rooms. The wireless is so hit or miss that every student has been forced to purchase very expensive wireless routers to compensate! 1159 Not much or none at all. 1162 Send out list to all residents on the services you offer, allowing all to know what they have access to and at what cost to them. 1164 Have more advertisements so I know what you guys do. 1166 More wifi, faster wifi, fuckin google fiber 1167 Faster and more consistent wifi internet connection 1171 The internet is really wonky in the dorm rooms. It cuts on and off all the time, an the little caution triangle always pops up when I log into my wi-fi. 1172 The new printers dont print pictures very well- They all come out grainy. This is a serious problem when it comes to cheat sheets. Also the computers NCSU provides at the library and in various buildings are all extremely slow. It takes about 5 minutes to log on, and its just not worth it. 1177 Switch back to the cisco client instead of the aruba clean access. My mac absolutely will not run it from the wifi in either library. it has hindered me from being an active member in group projects, kept me from doing work, and overall complicated my life. 1178 This is not really related to success, however, there is a problem with packet loss with ResNet and I play a couple of computer games and this can sometimes get frustrating. But overall, the internet quality here is great. 1180 Well Id never complain about faster internet. 1181 Wireless internet in my apartment common area, and not having to enter the same username and password over and over, more affordable printing 1183 I hope there are more Kiosk systems that inform students of social issues more often 1188 Increase the Linux to Windows ratio in labs... 1191 Eliminate the need for a wireless router. Have the university provide it. 1193 Advertise for it more 1195 Quit introducing new services to replace previously working services before thoroughly testing them. The updated print service was a complete joke for the first couple of months, and it really still is. It is slower and bulkier than the previous system. It offers new tools that are entirely useless. It forces me to pay extra money just to put money onto the account. I am still restricted to uploading PDF or text files. Print.ncsu.edu does not automatically redirect to the actual print site. I have learned to live with it, but I do not see how it is in any way an improvement. 1199 Network speed and connection availability 1200 If you need to borrow a computer you should be able to borrow what youre used to. 1202 I can think of anything that will impact my success here. I think information technology is fine. 1205 Their ability to communicate what tools they have available to students more effectively

page 204 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

through social media and going out on or somewhere and talking about it. 1207 Registering your laptop so you dont have to sign in every time you connect to wifi 1211 Access to lectures online (to supplement in-class instruction) 1214 None at all. 1215 The location is kind of hidden and therefore, many people dont realize it exists or how close it is to some of the places on campus. 1220 N/A 1225 idk 1232 I would like to see the information technology more efficient and cost effective. For example, the computer in DH Hill run slowly, which decreases homework productivity, which also reduces the overall amount of resources available to all students when time that could be contributed to multiple students is wasted on loading time and other hardware/software shortcomings. Further, given the trends of rising tuition, methods of lowering technology costs on campus to ensure the affordability of college, even for low-income students, would be beneficial by way of reducing student stress and thereby fostering an environment more conducive to learning. 1234 Wireless in Hunt library

I go to class, but sometimes professors write so quickly, Im in the small group that tries to keep up while the others stop not because of material, but because the professors write quickly and skip steps. In math classes especially, I feel it would be better for everyone if notes/lectures were posted online. 84 Cant think of any 86 Better TV delivery services (IPTV or digital HD cable) 88 None 96 The ability to broadcast wifi using a new technology without hampering speed of connectivity. I forgot the name of that router like technology. 103 Having wireless provided in the dorm rooms. It would make studying a bit easier because students could then be more mobile in the room while studying. 109 N/A 110 Adding smartboards to the library. 112 Wireless capability in the bedrooms of the dorms. 119 The technology that State provides always meets and surpasses my expectations. 120 OpenShift 121 No opinion page 206 / 213 Quick statistics Survey 273636 '2012-2013 ResNet User Survey'

It has been around for many years now and our rivals in Chapel Hill offer HD cable to their residents so OIT needs to keep up with the technology. IPTV is good when it works, but since a computer is needed to watch the HD programs provided, the amount of processing power needed to stream HD makes the computer useless to other processes. 218 Wireless in the dorm rooms 219 I havent heard or seen of any currently. 224 havent heard of any. 228 I feel like if I sign onto a computer anywhere on campus I should be able to access my saved documents anywhere-and not just on that specific computer. I dont know if that is possible, but just an idea. Also, if the bookcopy scan machines didnt require a flash drive, you could just sign in with your unity id and access those scans later on your personal laptop. 234 None that I know of. 237 none 238 Card access to dorm rooms and more routers in well-populated areas. Maybe not innovative, but definitely useful. Giving access to Microsoft Dreamspark to all majors would be pretty good too. 240 Segways 251 free cable 252 Cant think of any at the moment. 255 Resource Management Tool - Some organizations, especially in engineering, own large quantities of equipment. Much of this equipment is duplicated across organizations (oscilloscopes, soldering irons, printers, etc) when it could be shared. By promoting resource sharing, it would also reduce the costs required to create new student organizations and reduce dues for existing organizations. From an officer standpoint, I would like to be able to identify and track pieces of equipment to (1) not loan, (2) loan only internally, (3) loan to other organizations, (4) loan to all students, and (5) loan to local educators. For some equipment, we should be able to restrict it to only the people trained to use it (the way the College of Design restricts their laser cutters). We want to be able to track how often it is used, provide scanned manuals, warranty information, purchase information. As a user, I want to be able to search for equipment and find the right person to contact, and reserve it if it is currently on loan. If the equipment requires a fee to maintain upkeep and replace consumables, the system could also permit online fee payment. Essentially, it would become a cross between NCSU Materials Support, the librarys technology lending program, and clubs.

259 Google Fiber 263 Gigabit 264 I know that online time sheets exist, NCSU just does not use them. Also, Triangle Transit busses have wifi on them that works pretty well, perhaps we could implement a similar system. 269 wireless buses 272 NC State already has plenty of technology. I personally have nothing in mind. 275 Have a moodle mobile app 277 None that I have heard. 279 More mediascape areas in the residence hall lounges 281 Wifi in all of the dorms 286 None 291 Google Fiber :P 293 The Moodle app that LSU has. 297 none 302 None 304 Not up to date on the tech world 312 None 317 Free Cable 325 smart boards 342 More smartboards 343 none 345 Private video chat rooms? 361 None 369 N/A 374 More information about services such as Mendeley (essentially Dropbox for research articles). Mendeley is currently free, but I did not find out about it until I was hired outside of the University to help collect and file research papers, which we store in Mendeley. I am sure there are other highly useful sites and services that we just dont know about. 382 - 383 Key-card access into dorms and into campus buildings. 385 wifi 386 Redbox, more wireless routers 388 google internet 392 N/a 396 have not seen or heard of any 397 The lights in buildings should be turned off when nobodys around. 398 None 399 no opinion 402 NC state should implement more smart boards in classrooms 405 Fiber optic cable for internet 406 Automatic timers and other devices to save energy 408 Google Fiber, which allows students and faculty to enjoy a 2GB/second download speed. 412 NA 413 N/a 414 nothing 417 n/a 422 Campus wide wifi 424 laundry apps are common at other schools. 425 Unsure 428 Nothing. 431 google fiber 433 Google Fiber 435 Improve the quality of vcl for students with macs who cant obtain some windows software any other way. 436 cool apps 442 I think that more apps are needed. We need apps for events on campus, so that people can actually hear about them before the events are happening. We need apps that provide times for clubs like meeting times, event times, fundraising time, etc. 445 Residence Hall card access 446 Cloud computing vm ware . Cool 447 google fiber 448 None. 457 Apps for things like moodle, webassign, and mypack portal would be cool. 458 None that I can think of.

461 unaware of any 464 Better mobile apps 466 More ports to connect to the ResNet Service in dorm rooms. There is only one spot in the room where someone can plug a ethernet cable into the wall. 467 There should be more visual maps of the Wolfline around campus. Since I do not have a smartphone I cannot access the Wolfline App to see when busses are coming. There should be screens with the TransLoc map at each bus stop showing where the busses are currently. 470 Wifi that actually works consistently. 471 Internet of busses 475 Sharepoint, please, it is absolutely incredible. 479 Not sure if its applicable, but Ive heard of Google Fiber, and 100x broadband speed sounds wonderful and would cut down time spent on online projects and homework and also recreational activities, like streaming videos/music or playing games. 481 The bad version of MyPack is the only real issue I have 483 Rent underwater headphones for swimming at the gym 491 I dont know of any. 494 na 502 dont know 503 Vertically dispensing water fountains 504 none 506 A new "Sandbox" in one of the libraries powered by Corning using their Glass technology. 524 Turn off lights and TVs that are not in use to save power. 544 Google Glass but on giant windows. 547 Trying to make websites mobile accessible. 548 n/a 549 None. 552 no opinion 558 I cannot think of any. 560 key fobs for entering dorms 561 Mobile phone application. 643 none 645 N/A 648 Printing from computers without having to convert to PDF 651 A NCSU dining app would be very useful for meal plan holders. Having the ability to look up the menu would not only save time, but it would save students meals if they do not want anything that is offered at the dining hall that day. Plenty of my friends, including me, wasted swipes and walked across campus only to be disappointing by the menu selection. Along with the app, quick access to the AllCampus information would be useful to track meal plan and dining dollars. 658 Fobs for ALL dorms. 660 I would love it if the campus libraries had at least the option to rent Mac equipment so that I could use the resources in the study rooms. 662 Electric buses. Or at least something cleaner. 664 Information sessions on helpful programs on a students computer. 668 n/a 672 N/A 673 None. 683 The technology is good. 689 na 691 Google Fiber!!! 692 Google Fiber! we want it, also great to get new students 694 Live video between DH Hill and Hunt. 697 no opinion 705 GuardianSentral app is used at some universities. A student can use their GPS tracking on their smartphone to designate a certain time they should be back in their room by. It lets campus police know if the student has not returned and they will be notified. Would help students feel safer walking around campus at night. 706 Lecture Capture 716 Roku 728 None 729 battery life improvement 733 Wi-MAX 740 I really like the classes being recorded. 1069 idk 1071 No idea. 1073 no opinion 1075 I have heard and read a lot about ClearWire 4G LTE service; Implementing a high speed wireless connection like that would ensure that all the students and faculty are able to stay connected and it would also solve the WiFi and phone reception issues that NC State is currently having. 1077 Not sure. 1078 n/a 1082 None 1084 Google Glass 1085 redbox 1086 I havent heard of any 1089 -More channels 1093 none. 1094 Nothing feasible comes to mind. 1097 None that Im aware of. 1098 Make recorded course content viewable online. 1101 Nothing. 1104 Having all the lectures of classes online for the students to be able to access. This would make our lives a lot easier. 1105 I like the idea of a RedBox on campus. It would give my something to do on those lazy nights. 1113 I am not aware of anything in particular, however, I have had classes this semester which sought to use the technology available in the classrooms, and the technology did not work as it was supposed to, and the assistance for this technology was unable to really help.

In one of the classes I took this semester, my professor was required to stay home by his doctor for about a month, and was not able to lecture in person. On a few occasions, he attempted to call in to the classroom to have a discussion with the class, and it never worked very well - the solution OIT provided was to mic the rooms telephone, but because of the noise levels and issues with feedback, the volume was incredibly low. One solution they never tried was to make a video call through skype or a similar video system - although my class experience is rather unique, I think that providing a video call-in system would be dramatically beneficial for the classroom - especially considering how digitized everything is becoming today. It would not have to be a full-scale DELTA classroom, but having a camera set up in the room to provide for a 2-way video call would have dramatically aided my particular class this semester while my professor was required to stay home. 1118 None. 1120 we have da best around 1123 Not sure. 1127 SYMODIUMS AND SMART BOARDS (ALLOW TEACHERS TO SAVE THEIR NOTES FOR ACCESS ONLINE BY STUDENTS) 1131 Red Box on campus!!! 1132 none. 1134 THE MAP APPLICATION! and updating technology in the dorms 1135 NA 1137 N/A 1143 I have heard that windows is offered for free at other schools so I would like that to be implemented here as well. 1147 Possibly implementing Blackboard, it is similar to Moodle 1151 N/A 1153 Broadcast all the course material. e.g. study rooms, lounges, commons. 1180 How about that Microsoft Word? Eh? DO YOU KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE LOSING "STYLE CHECK"? I DONT THINK YOU DO.

Put in those directed speakers thingies, so us srs lifters can listen to real music and the cardiobunnies can listen to that pop crap. 1181 single web page to connect to enter username and password once, and be connected to all campus web stuff. for ncsu that would mean not having to enter the same information for internet, email, mypack, library, course websites, moodle, ticketing, epack in one sitting (I frequently use all of these multiple times in the same day) 1183 Sometimes Internet connection is not good on campus, usually for samsung phone users 1185 Tap-to-pay card technologies. Would speed up the process. Just have workers punch in the total, hit a button, thing lights up, tap, go. 1188 Card swipe in as opposed to key entry to dorm buildings. 1191 Card access to vending machines/dorms. 1200 None 1202 I do not know of any innovative technology solutions. 1205 Mobile apps. 1207 N/A 1211 Redbox 1214 None at all. 1218 Smart Boards or a way for the instructor to write notes that show up on a screen as they write that can later be saved as a document and posted to a website for students to view.
