Top price per kilo was 203p for a Limousin x steer from Mr. W.G. Piper of Germoe purchased by David King of Exeter. Top value at £1,228 was an Aberdeen Angus x weighing 686kg for Nicholls & Co. of and bought by Messrs. Rapson of Tavistock.

A decent number of cull cows met a better trade on the week. Well fleshed cows both beek and dairy in good demand with straight out of the parlour cows at a lesser level. A standout Friesian from Messrs. W.O. Brown & Son of St. Austell topped the averages selling at 126p/kg and £881 to Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh. Leading the beef sorts to 124p/kg was a Charolais x from Messrs. R.J. & S.J. Gabriel of Launceston purchased by David King of Exeter. Top value on the day was a grand South Devon cow at £1,016 for Messrs. J.A. & C.R.N. Baker of Newquay purchased by Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh.

An entry of prime cattle from Mr. A.J. Jelbert of Mitchell, Newquay saw Limousin x heifers top at 151p/kg to Trevarthens of Roskrow, averaging 146.28p.

An entry of OTM heifers also for Mr. A.J. Jelbert of Mitchell, Newquay sold to 160p/kg to David Ellis of Lelant and averaged 157.96p.

CULL COWS

A small entry of cull cows sold to a top price of 108p/kg for a smart Friesian cow from Mr. P.J. Harvey of Kea bought by David Ellis of Lelant.

30 STORE CATTLE

A run of Limousin x steers for Messrs. M. & J. Rowe of Ashton, Helston sold to a top price for 1½yo of £655. Similar age Aberdeen Angus x steers sold to £630 for Messrs. K. & M. Ferris of Gunwalloe, Helston who also had Friesian steers reaching 2yo at £610 and 1½yo Friesian steers to £575.
