Chaelundi National Park and State Conservation Area protect the old growth forest communities and other important habitat, and plants and animals of high conservation value, including endangered species and the regionally significant brush-tailed rock wallaby.

    COFFS HARBOUR SEDIMENT MODELLING AND INVESTIGATION Luke McAvoy Undergraduate Engineer (Civil) Griffith School of Engineering, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia Daniel Rodger Senior Engineer Water Technology Pty Ltd, Brisbane, Australia ________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Water Technology has teamed with Griffith University as a part of the Industrial Affiliates Program to complete a Sediment Modelling Investigation for Coffs Harbour. The harbour at Coffs Harbour has been infilling with sediment since breakwall construction and reclamation linked two nearshore islands with the mainland in the 1920s, interrupting the Longshore Sediment Transport (LST) pathway. The harbour has become a sand sink; sand is entering the harbour and then cannot be removed by natural processes. Following on from previous reports from Carley (2005) and Lord (1984), the investigation has used the latest numerical modelling software, volumetric analysis programs and analytical methods for LST estimation to investigate the effects of the harbour on sediment transport. The effect of the breakwall orientation on wave height and particle velocity for different incident wave directions was investigated using a MIKE 21 Flexible-Mesh Spectral Wave model. The model predicted bottom water particle velocities throughout the harbour and mapped potential accumulation hotspots and sediment pathways. Bathymetric surveys spreading 118 years were analysed with the volumetric analysis program 12D Model. The results showed sand accumulating within the harbour in the lee of the eastern breakwall after its construction, as predicted in the MIKE model. This shoal built up to a uniform level before extending across the entire width of the harbour. Each periodic bathymetric comparison showed the sediment extending further within the harbour as a „wave‟.

For the time being they all are assigned to Dolichopeza s. str. Lectotypes are designated for seven species. One taxon previously regarded as a subspecies is given füll specific rank, and one species is synonymized. In total 28 previously described species are recognized. The males of two of those species previously known only from the female, and the females of th- ree of those species previously known only from the male, are introduced, and 18 species are described as new. A key is presented to species groups as recognized in this paper (males only). Key-words: Dolichopeza, revision; Australian species. Introduction The first description of an Australian species of Dolichopeza CURTIS was presented by MACQUART (1846) under Apeilesis cinerea. To this SKUSE (1890) added seven more species, and ALEXANDER (1920, 1924, 1928a, 1928b, 1930, 1934, 1937, 1944) contributed another 19 taxa of the species group. However, only SKUSE (1890) provided illustrations, for four of his species. DOBROTWORSKY (1974) revised the Australian members of Do- lichopeza. He (DOBROTWORSKY 1974) synonymized one of ALEXANDER'S species, attributed full specific rank to one of ALEXANDER'S subspecies, re- described all previously known species which he recognized, and described three more species.

  • Piedmont Ecoregion Aquatic Habitats
    Piedmont Ecoregion Aquatic Habitats Description and Location The piedmont ecoregion extends south of Blue Ridge to the fall line near Columbia, South Carolina and from the Savannah River east to the Pee Dee River. Encompassing 24 counties and 10,788 square miles, the piedmont is the largest physiographic province in South Carolina. The piedmont is an area with gently rolling hills dissected by narrow stream and river valleys. Forests, farms and orchards Pee Dee-Piedmont EDU dominate most of the land. Elevations Santee-Piedmont EDU Savannah-Piedmont EDU range from 375 to 1,000 feet. The Piedmont Ecoregion cuts across the top of three major South Carolina drainages, the Savannah, the Santee and the Pee Dee, forming three ecobasins: the Savannah-Piedmont, Santee-Piedmont and Pee Dee-Piedmont. Savannah-Piedmont Ecobasin The Savannah River drainage originates in the mountains of North Carolina and Georgia. The Savannah River flows southeast along the border of South Carolina and Georgia through the piedmont for approximately 131 miles on its way to the Atlantic Ocean. Major tributaries to the Savannah River in the South Carolina portion of this ecobasin include the Tugaloo River, Seneca River, Chauga River, Rocky River, Little River and Stevens Creek. The ecobasin encompasses 36 watersheds and approximately 2,879 square miles. The vast majority of the land is privately owned with only 239 square miles protected by federal, state and private entities. Most of the protected land (192 square miles) occurs in Sumter National Forest. The ecobasin contains 3,328 miles of lotic habitat with 143 square miles of impoundments.

    Crown Lands (General Reserves) By-law 2006 As at 1 July 2017 Does not include amendments by: Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013 No 105, Sch 6.2 [1] [3] and [4] (not commenced) Part 1 – Preliminary 1 Name of By-law This By-law is the Crown Lands (General Reserves) By-law 2006. 2 Commencement This By-law commences on 1 September 2006. This By-law replaces the Crown Lands (General Reserves) By-law 2001 which is repealed on 1 September 2006 by section 10 (2) of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989. 3 Application This By-law applies: (a) to each reserve specified in Schedule 1, and (b) to each reserve for which a reserve trust has been established and the affairs of which are managed by the Ministerial Corporation under section 95 of the Act, except as specifically provided by other clauses of this By-law. 4 Definitions (1) In this By-law:"authorised person", in relation to a reserve trust, means: (a) a member of the trust board of the reserve trust, or (b) an administrator of the affairs of the reserve trust, or (c) a ranger or other person appointed in writing by the reserve trust for the purposes of this definition, or (d) if a corporation other than the Ministerial Corporation has been appointed to manage the affairs of the reserve trust, any officer, employee of the corporation or other person appointed as an authorised person for the purposes of this definition by the corporation, or (e) if the Ministerial Corporation has been appointed to manage, or the Minister is managing, the affairs of the reserve trust, any person: (i) holding an office, position or rank prescribed by a regulation under the Act for the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of "authorised person" in section 153 of the Act, or (ii) authorised by the Minister in writing for the purposes of this definition.

Target outcome: To foster employment and retention of more young people by providing careers advice on local industries with employment potential, linked with more available traineeships and apprenticeships. Key points: - Our region’s youth unemployment rate is 50% higher than the NSW state average. - There is a decline in the number of apprenticeships being offered in the region. - The current school based traineeship process is overly complicated for students, teachers and employers.
