Survivors follow the adventures of a group of former domestic dogs that form a flock using Lucky, a lone dog, after an earthquake separates them from their owners. The first book, Empty City, was released on August 21, 2012, followed by Hidden Enemy on May 7, 2013, Darkness falls on September 3, 2013, Broken Way on February 11, 2014, Endless Lake on June 3, 2014, and The Dog Storm, released february 10, 2015. There are two contracts, each containing six books. The first, Survivors (later renamed Survivors: The Original Series), was published from 2012 to 2015. The second series, Survivors: The Gathering Darkness, completed its latest book, The Final Battle. The first book of the second series, A Pack Divided, was released on October 13, 2015, followed by Dead of Night on June 7, 2016, Into the Shadows on February 7, 2017, Red Moon Rising on October 3, 2017, The Exile's Journey on June 26, 2018, and The Final Battle on February 5, 2019. Other books have been released in addition to the main series, including three e-books of the novel titled The Tale of Alpha, The Journey of the Retinue and The Choice of the Moon, the last novella released on May 5, 2015. The Survivors series was released in e-book format for popular electronic readers such as Barnes and Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle. The series has also been translated into several languages. In addition, the series has a website featuring games, commercials, quizzes and news. Survivors received positive reviews, with critics praising the walk, the characters, and the magical style of writing. Inspiration and Origin When The Seekers series is created, it started as a request from HarperCollins to Victoria Holmes, stating that the team should develop another series about a group of animals, but this time not cats. HarperCollins initially suggested that they write a book about dogs, but Holmes did not stories that would be too close to the warriors, and the dogs lived in flocks, hunted for food, had a strict hierarchy and guarded their territories like cats. Eventually it was decided that the series would be about the bears instead. In another chat two years later, Holmes said that while she was happy to focus on cats and bears right now, she would consider doing a series about dogs. Later, Gilian Philip said that dogs just felt like natural progress from cats. Later, the authors invited Inbali Iselris, author of The Tygrine Cat, to write a new series about dogs called Survivors. She readily accepted the offer after learning that Philip was also writing the series. According to her, cats are more mysterious than dogs, which are easily sociable and full of frantic energy. Joining Erin Hunter, she spent more time with her dog Michi, closely observing his behavior. Some of his manners that were marked were his tail wagging and ears flicking back in excitement at the sight of his friends. This gave her a lot of material to develop the character of Lucky and his comrades. While the previous series had a preview of the story written by one author, a different approach was taken for the Survivors series. The whole team creates a detailed story plan and develops the characters together, and then the actual letter is done by one author who has the power to change something significant about the plot or characters if they feel that a certain character will not act in a certain way. See also: The List of Surviving Characters of the Book Original series Empty City Empty City is the first book in the original series and was released on August 21, 2012. It begins with the main character, Lucky, a shaggy, golden-white male Shelty Retriever mix, hearing a story of an apocalypse called Storm Dogs from his mother's retriever mix while he was a puppy named Yap. He and his four siblings (his brothers Yowl and Snip, and his sisters Squeak and Yip) are intrigued, but basically the story is very quickly the legendary dog named Lightning, who is said to have become an actual lightning bolt. Years later, on a long light (summer) day in the coastal city of California, the Great Snarl, Earthquake, Strikes, Killing Most Longpaws (People) in the area. Lucky and his friend Sweet, a female fast dog (greyhound), escape from the trap of the house (dog pound). The two go their separate ways - Sweet wants to be part of the package while Lucky wants to be a lonely dog. When Lucky found himself trapped by red foxes, he is rescued by his long-lost sister Squeak, now called Bella, who leads a group of six other former Leashed Dogs (dogs kept as pet longpaws) who are confident their owners will come back for them - they include Bruno's big, sturdy, fat brown man Shepherd Chow Chow Mix Fight Dog, Martha's Massive Black Black (Newfoundland Dog), Alfie the Bulldog, Sunshine Maltese Dog, Daisy wiry, white-and-tan, short-legged west Highland female white terrier-Jack Russell terrier mix and Mickey Farm Dog (border collie). Lucky decides to join them temporarily and show them how to survive in this new world before returning to being a loner. He recounts a part of his life to Bella, where he once belonged to an abusive long-legged man from whom he escaped. Eventually he decided that Leashed Dogs couldn't keep waiting for their lost longpaw owners to return, so they join Lucky as they drive away to the nearby deserts outside the city. After Martha saves Bruno from drowning in the river because she has webbed paws like a water dog, Lucky teaches pack how to separate work based on their abilities. When Alfie finds a place (abandoned dog training center) where there is food and other dogs a little further away, Bella, Daisy and Lucky follow him. Lucky is not sure to enter the place first, so he refuses to follow further. Lucky soon discovers that others have been captured in the facility (so called Dog Garden) by a violent yet unreasonable pack of 16 Fierce Dogs (Doberman Pinschers) already living there, angry that Leashed Dogs are eating their leftover kibble. Lucky uses deception to help the hostages escape and leads them to safety. He forces them to bury any traces of their owners, but Mickey holds fast to the baseball glove of his owners' son. Lucky leaves his Package, but returns when he hears a fight. Hidden Enemy is the second book in the series, released on May 7, 2013. It begins in flashbacks, with the young Lucky's mother telling him and his siblings that wild grey wolves should not be trusted, especially since in regards to the story of an intrigued wolf named Greatfang, who tried to kill a curious granddaughter of the Flash named Nuzzle (but she survived and grew up to be a cruel warrior-dog called Wildfire), and with this Yap went to sleep, believing that he would be smarter. than Nuzzle. Nowadays, Lucky hears the sounds of fighting and rushes to the aid of the Leashed Pack from the attack of some members of another dog pack, Wild Pack 13, and realizes that their Alpha is a male wolf that kills Alfie. The aftershock of the Great Growl occurs, causing the packages to dissipate. Lucky rescues a female beta-swift dog Wild Pack, which, as it turned out, was Sweet, which fell into the abyss of discovery. Lucky hides that he is associated with the Leashed Pack. Sweet invites Lucky to her in a package, but he rejects the offer. Bella sends Lucky as a spy in the Wild Pack, where he temporarily made a patrol dog in the Wild Pack, briefly working with a Twitch tan male spaniel-beagle mix of chase-dog and darth skinny, slender, brown-white female whip mix - during patrol service, you don't eat and can only have the amount of water to drink because their Alpha believes it distracts from patrol dogs duty, and it is mentioned that the now banished male member of this package broke this rule by eating a mountain cotton corpse he found while on patrol (not only is the unnamed dog banished, but the rest of the pack do mention his name more). During the holiday mining exchange, Mulch's rough long-haired, shiny black male English cocker spaniel mix tries to steal dead North American deer from a booty pile when it's not his turn, but sweet snaps at him and threatens to downgrade him from hunting and patrolling duties, shocking lucky. Later, he feels a sense of loyalty to Paku during their nightly ritual howling called the Great Howe. At some point he sees the same mysterious crow before, but at night, and believes that it may be the messenger of the Forest Dog.
