The game marked the second straight game that Pachan has tossed four touchdown passes. Saturday’s win marks Minnesota State’s first 6-0 start since 1926 and secured Minnesota State a winning record for the 2009 season.

NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK #44 David Alvarez (LB, 5-11, 200, Sr., Soquel, Calif. / Soquel HS) Northern State University Alvarez was all over the field for the Northern State defense in their 34-17 win over Minnesota, Crookston, as he notched 12 tackles (four solo) on the afternoon and added two interceptions. His first interception kept the Golden Eagles out of the end zone prior to halftime as he picked off a Tim Ennis pass in the end zone as the clock ran out on the first half. He was part of a Wolves’ defense that held the Golden Eagles to season-best 56 rushing yards on 32 attempts (1.8 ypc), while holding the UMCUMC ofoffensefense to 1717 points,po also a season-low.

NSIC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK #10 Billy Emanuel IV (K, 5-9, 165, R-Fr., Owatonna, Minn. / Owatonna) Winona State University Emanuel made his collegiate debut with a big boot. His first collegiate field goal attempt was good from 38 yards, he then added one from 26 and missed his third attempt. He did converted on all five of his extra point kicks for 11 total points in the Warriors eight point shoot-out win over SMSU.

ONE CHANGE IN THE TOP 10 IN AFCA DIVISION II COACHES’ TOP 25 POLL

WACO, TEX.– Despite both teams winning easily this past Saturday, Central Washington and Bloomsburg (Pa.) switched places in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll with the Wildcats taking over the No. 4 spot while the Huskies dropped to No. 5. Grand Valley State (Mich.) still owns the No. 1 spot with a 6-0 mark after a 47-21 win over Tiffin (Ohio). The Lakers are followed by Abilene Christian (Texas) at No. 2 and North Alabama at No. 3. Three new teams entered the poll this week as Nebraska-Kearney jumps in at No. 21, Angelo State (Texas) comes in at No. 23 and North Carolina-Pembroke enters the poll at No. 25. Nebraska-Kearney hasn’t been ranked in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Poll since the final poll of 2005, while Angelo State (Texas) is making its first appearance since 2001.
