7 A STRONG SISTERLY BOND Growing up, Alyssa and I have always had a strong sisterly bond. We did everything together in high school and knew we wanted to still be together through college. We had the same love for the health science field and knew we wanted to pursue a career in it. After looking at numerous campuses, Alyssa and I knew Misericordia University was the college for us. Our experience throughout our four years was outstanding. The facility and staff were very welcoming and always knew us as the "Machey Twins" just because a lot of people could not tell us apart. Throughout the four years at Misericordia, Alyssa and I were inseparable. We had all of our classes together, studied together, and now work at the same hospital together. Upon college graduation, we accepted two full time X- ray positions at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. We would not have made it this far without the help of everyone at Misercordia. Every single facility member and all of the students there had made our experience a great one.

~ ALISON MACHEY ’17 • B.S. Medical Imaging

As a 2016 graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, I never would have made it without the help of my professors. Though all doctors, these professors were all on a first name basis with their students. My graduate professors did whatever they could to make sure the students succeeded. Whether it was providing their cell phone number if you had a question at 9 o’clock the night before an exam, or even coming in for extra study time with you on a Saturday, they all went above and beyond for every one of us.

Thanks to Misericordia, I had a job a few weeks before graduation.

It is so wonderful to see this University still abides by Mercy, Service, Hospitality, and Justice — four charisms set forth by its founders almost 100 years ago. I truly have the best Alma Mater out there.

~ AMANDA MACHEY ’13 • B.S. Health Care Management ’16 Doctor of Physical Therapy

8 My wife, Debbie, and I always knew that Misericordia University was a wonderful school as the twins, Alison and Alyssa, always had a great attitude toward their college education. The twins picked a field of study that they absolutely loved. They would always tell us about how great their professors were, and we got to see that in person at the Medical Imaging Department luncheon for students and parents. My wife and I were so impressed with how much their professors cared about each and every one of their students. Some colleges are so large you are just a number; but at Misericordia, it is like you are a family and everyone really does care about you.

It is important to note that Alison and Alyssa’s older sister, Amanda, also graduated from Misericordia with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

13 ALUMNI SUCCESS

“The faculty and staff of the Misericordia Mass Communications and Design Department provided me with a strong foundation as I went into my professional career. I did two internships as a Misericordia student, both under the supervision of Dr. Melissa Sgroi, and I received excellent feedback from my supervisors at both news stations.”

~ TARYN TALACKA ’15 • B.A. Communications News producer at WPMT FOX43, York, PA

“Misericordia University, specifically, the Medical Imaging Program, is a huge part of why I’m successful in my career today. I’ve worked in several fields of medical imaging since graduating and in each one, I was leaps and bounds ahead of other technologists with whom I worked in terms of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. Whether it was my experience as a resident assistant or president of the Medical Imaging Club, I was challenged at Misericordia to be a better leader, and I still use the lessons learned from those experiences today!”
