Conservatory Overview Sample Curriculum The Ballroom Dance Conservatory is designed for ambitious dancers who desire American Smooth Ballroom comprehensive training in the art forms of ballroom and . The Ballroom Latin Technique Dance Conservatory’s faculty is comprised of well-known professionals in the Standard Ballroom industry, including champion competitors, judges, and studio owners, providing Standard Technique students with one-of-a-kind classes and world-class training. The curriculum is designed to train students to become well-rounded dancers and artists who are prepared to enter the professional ballroom dance industry.

The conservatory also provides students with the opportunity to participate in championship award-winning Ballroom and Latin Formation teams, as well as two community outreach performance groups, Ballroom Blitz and Ballroom Stars. Additionally, Ballroom Dance students can perform in OCSA’s Finale at the prestigious Segerstrom Center for the Arts at the end of the year.

Unique Experiences Throughout the school year, Ballroom Dance Conservatory students compete at world-class events across Southern California. Mr. Robert Porch earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in theatre performance from the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating, he was a full-time instructor and competitor with Dance Studios in Florida and New York City. Mr. Porch has been fortunate to dance professionally in several ballroom touring shows, including the U.S. tour of Simply Ballroom with host Debbie Reynolds, as well as a Las Vegas residency show and the filming of the U.K. tour of Simply Ballroom. He has also judged the Journey Dancesport California State Youth Championships and the AAU West Coast Junior Olympics in the category of DanceSport for several years.
