    For Immediate Release February 5, 2021 Contact: Carrie Kikel, Oregon Arts Commission, (503) 480-5360 150 arts organizations receive $910,568 in Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission Awards totaling $910,568 have been distributed to 150 Oregon arts organizations through the Oregon Arts Commission’s fiscal year 2021 Operating Support Program. There are 12 more recipients than in fiscal year 2020 due to a growing number of eligible organizations. Ranging from $2,828 to $ 22,888, the grant awards are available to nonprofit organizations with arts at the core of their mission and budgets over $150,000*. “We often hear that operating support is the most important type of award,” said Arts Commission Chair Anne Taylor. “Especially now, as arts organizations continue to suffer great losses due to the pandemic, these awards can help relieve a bit of the economic pressure.” In 2019 organizations receiving Operating Support from the Arts Commission expended $213 million, employed 11,681 FTE and produced events and activities that were attended by close to 3.7 million people. *Organizations with budgets under $150,000 are eligible to apply to the Small Operating Program. This program funds an additional 97 arts organizations. She was also a winner of the Trula Whelan concerto competition in 2016. Kaylee also played piano for 8 years, studying with teachers including Dorothy Fahlman and Harold Gray.

    For Immediate Release July 21, 2014 Contact: David Huff, (503) 986‐0086, [email protected] Carrie Kikel, (503) 680‐7651, [email protected] 96 Oregon arts groups receive $1,099,500 in Operating Support grants Operating Support grants totaling $1,099,500 have been awarded to 96 medium and large Oregon arts organizations across the state for fiscal year 2015. The grants, intended for arts groups whose prior yearʹs cash operating revenue totaled at least $75,000, range from $4,000 to $50,000. Funds for Operating Support grants are designed to support an organization’s full range of programming, including operating, administrative and personnel costs with the exception of capital expenditures. Applications are evaluated based on quality of artistic programming, organizational capacity/sustainability and community impact. They cannot exceed 10 percent of the applicant’s prior year cash budget. “These grants recognize arts groups who are making ongoing contributions to the quality of life in their communities,” said Arts Commission Chair Julie Vigeland. “They are central to our mission to ensure access to quality arts programming across the state.” The organizations receiving 2015 Operating Support grants are (alphabetically by community): Ashland: Dancing People Company ‐ $4,000 Dancing Peopleʹs mission is to create and perform professional, original dance works that illuminate the commonality of human experience and to create opportunities for professional dancers, non‐professional dancers and other community members to interact. B. Yeats and based on a real person that Yeats admired for her audacity, lust for life and satirical eye. She is a passionate old woman who flies in the face of convention and propriety to speak her mind about love, war, character and freedom. She shakes her fist at generals and bishops alike. She acts as a mouthpiece for unpopular truths and thus upholds the tradition of strong, mythical Celtic women in her own unorthodox way. The only reason she gets away with it (in early 20th century Ireland, anyway) is because, well… she’s crazy. The women of Cascadia Composers adopted “Crazy Jane” as their muse because her bold spirit and fearlessness in expressing herself is an inspiration to women composers – a group that has been marginalized throughout Western musical history. Some of the older composers in our group grew up during a time when women were barred from playing in professional orchestras and what few female musicians (especially composers and conductors) who had existed barely merited a footnote in traditional music education. While that atmosphere is increasingly a relic of the past, its traces linger.

Photo: Thomas Osborne © 2010. 2 oregon cultural trust October 2010 To the supporters and partners of the Oregon Cultural Trust: Fiscal Year 2010 (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010) was full of accomplishment benefiting Oregon’s 1,300 cultural nonprofits, 45 county and tribal coalitions and five statewide partners. The Cultural Trust’s work is possible only with your support and we are pleased to report on your investments in Oregon culture. At the beginning of the year, the Trust announced $1.45 million in grants benefiting 48 cultural nonprofits, county and tribal cultural coalitions and partner agencies. Dollars available for grantmaking declined slightly because of lower revenues and interest earnings. The Trust was pleased, however, to continue investing in Oregon’s diverse cultural community. Donations to the Trust in fy2010 increased six percent, to $3,734,110 from fy2009’s $3,493,004. However, low interest earnings on the Trust’s corpus slowed overall growth, with total revenues increasing only by 1.8%. Two important events occurred in fy2010. From October 1 – 8, 2009, the Trust presented the second annual Oregon Day of Culture celebration.
