COUNTRY LEGEND GUY CLARK TO PERFORM AT UM MISSOULA— Country music lovers are in for a treat Thursday, Sept. 21, when Guy Clark takes the stage in Missoula. Clark will bring his folk- and blues-influenced music to The University of Montana at 8 p.m. The performance will be held in the University Theatre, located in UM’s Fine Arts Building at the corner of Connell and Maurice. Tickets cost $22 in advance and $24 the day of the show. They are available at all GrizTix outlets, by calling 888-666-8262 and online at http://www.griztix.com. All seating is reserved. Clark has been described as a songwriting legend and “literary master” of music. “He’s a poet, an American poet,” country music’s Emmylou Harris said. “He really writes about people. He draws characters in a way no one else does.” Clark has 15 albums under his belt and, by many accounts, is giving the best performances of his career. His songs include “L.A. Freeway,” “Desperados Waiting for the Train,” “Old No. 1,” “Homegrown Tomatoes” and many more. They have been hits for Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, -more- 080306guvc-2 Harris, Willie Nelson, George Strait and many other country artists. His song “Heartbroke” was a No. 1 hit for Ricky Skaggs. Clark was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 and received an American Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. His new album, “Workbench Songs,” will be released in September. For more information, go online to http://www.guyclark.com. m BD Local, dailies, specialized western 080306guyc.
